When the weather turns rain into sunshine for a few days in a row, you need to try cold brew coffee.
In this article, I will take you on a journey through my 2 cold brew recipes. You will be amazed by the result and thank me for getting you a good recipe to get through the hot days.
Let me start by telling you what cold brew coffee is, then we'll get into the recipes, and last but not least, I will make a few suggestions on how to serve your cold brew coffee at home for the upcoming hot days.
What is cold brew coffee?
First things first, let me tell you what cold brew coffee is; next up are the recipes. If you like the idea of cold brew coffee, I will give you 2 recipes to try out yourself.
Cold brew coffee is coffee made by letting ground coffee beans and water steep for several hours. Usually ranging anywhere from 12 up to 24 hours.
The
coffee beans for cold brew
will need to be ground very coarsely. If ground incorrectly, your cold brew will taste like a sour bomb.
Why these recipes are the most delicious cold brew coffee you've ever made (and drank!)
The recipes I will provide you with are the most delicious because they have the right beans to water ratio.
It has been a long journey to get the correct amount of coffee and water to make the very best
cold brew
I could imagine.
I recommend sticking to the brewing time I suggested in my recipes. The brewing time really matters if this is your first time making cold brew coffee; take the advice and stick to the brewing time.
Once you have made the cold brew coffee, you can adjust the recipe to your liking by adding more or even fewer coffee beans or reducing or adding to the brewing time. This all depends on the taste of everybody here.
And if you don't like it at all, not a problem. You'll be glad you made it at home for the first time before ordering it in a coffee bar and disliking the taste.
Which coffee roast should you use for the cold brew recipes?
For the cold brew recipes, I suggest using
dark roasted
coffee as this will increases the strength of your final product.
Once the coffee beans have been roasted to a dark roast, it creates a coffee bean that packs a lot of punch and body.
Cold brew, just before being covered up for its brewing process
This is exactly what we need because you will be diluting the cold brew slightly (to taste), and you don't want all the flavors to disappear while doing so.
I will tell you all about diluting your cold brew coffee and giving you some tips on how I make my cold brew at home.

Total Time

Ingredients
To make this recipe, you are going to need the following things to make a batch of cold brew extract:
Coarsely ground coffee beans: 100 Grams
Water: 1 Liter
This recipe will be enough for 6 cups of cold brew coffee while diluted.
Additionally, you can dilute your cold brew coffee with a little water, milk, or milk substitute.
I use 70 grams of cold brew extract and 40 grams of milk to make the most delicious cold brew coffee at home!
Instructions
First off, start by grinding your coffee beans if you have not done that yet. Make it a coarse grind. I will explain why further down.
Add your freshly grounded coffee beans to your French press.
Next, add your water to the coffee beans, stir with a spoon to wet all the coffee beans.
Make sure you put the lid on top of your French press. You can also cover this with plastic wrapping if the French press is too big to fit in your fridge entirely.
Notes
What to do after brewing the coffee
After waiting for 15 hours (I know it's long), your cold brew is done. The only thing left is to press down on your French press's plunger and pour out the cold brew extract. I suggest adding this cold brew extraction to a small container or mug with some sort of spout. This will make for easy pouring of your cold brew extract.

To make this recipe, you are going to need the following things to make a batch of cold brew extract:
Coarsely ground coffee beans: 110 Grams

Boiled Water: 100 Grams
This recipe will be enough for 6 cups of cold brew coffee while diluted.

I use 80 grams of cold brew extract and 40 grams of milk to make the most delicious cold brew coffee at home!
Instructions
First off, start by grinding your coffee beans if you have not done that yet. Make it a coarse grind; I will explain why further down.
1. Add your freshly grounded coffee beans to your French press.
2. Once the water has been boiled, leave it on your kitchen counter for 2 minutes. You don't need this water to be super hot. After the wait, slowly pour the water over the ground coffee beans into your French press.
2. Next, add your cold water to the coffee beans, stir with a spoon to wet all the coffee beans.
3. Make sure you put the lid on top of your French press. You can also cover this with plastic wrapping if the French press is too big to fit in your fridge entirely.
Notes
What to do after brewing the coffee
After waiting for 14 hours, your cold brew extract is ready to be filtered. Slowly press down on the plunger of your French press and wait for it to reach the bottom. Pour the entire content into another cup or container. Something you can easily pour out your cold brew extract with.
This recipe will give you a stronger tasting cold brew, you will be using more coffee beans than batch number 1, and you are also going to use more cold brew extract when making this cold brew coffee. Of the two, this one is my favorite because it tastes even stronger than the other.

How to serve your freshly made cold brew coffee
You want to dilute your cold brew coffee with a nice bit of water, milk, or a milk alternative like oat milk or almond milk. This way, your cold brew will still be very tasteful but not pack too much caffeine. You will be able to appreciate your cold brew a lot.
Serving the cold brew coffee is the most important thing to this recipe. If you are diluting too little of
the cold brew concentrate
, you will end up with a much stronger cold brew you need.
The best way to find out what you like to add to your cold brew is to try it out. You can start by pouring half a cup of cold brew in your mug, then adding ice cubes to it as this will cool it down and make it nice and refreshing.
This is where you can add anything you want to it; I like to make my cold brew with just a bit of milk in it. I usually don't add too much, as this will impact the flavor because I like a strong cup of coffee.
In the recipes, I have given you the measurements I use while making my cold brew.
Keep in mind that these recipes are made to my taste, and you can add more milk (or
substitute
), or you can replace it with water. Or you can choose to make it stronger by diluting it less than I have already given you.
How to store the cold brew for its brewing time
You can choose to store your cold brew in the fridge if you've got the space and time. But leaving it on the kitchen counter is also a safe choice.
Just remember that storing your cold brew coffee in this fridge will delay the brewing time. The recipes for making cold brew are meant for storing your coffee on the kitchen counter.
Cold brew coffee covered up to start brewing away
If you will store your cold brew coffee in your fridge, add 2 more hours to the brewing time. The cold fridge will delay the brewing process a bit. The extra time will make sure to extract the flavors from the coffee beans fully.

Cold brew coffee batch 1
This recipe will be using cold water only, as apposed to adding a little boiled water to the ground coffee first.
**Prep Time** 20 minutes
**Waiting Time** 15 hours
**Additional Time when storing in fridge** 2 hours
**Total Time** 17 hours 20 minutes
### Ingredients
- To make this recipe, you are going to need the following things to make a batch of cold brew extract:
- Coarsely ground coffee beans: 100 Grams
- Water: 1 Liter
- This recipe will be enough for 6 cups of cold brew coffee while diluted.
- Additionally, you can dilute your cold brew coffee with a little water, milk, or milk substitute.
- I use 70 grams of cold brew extract and 40 grams of milk to make the most delicious cold brew coffee at home\!
### Instructions
First off, start by grinding your coffee beans if you have not done that yet. Make it a coarse grind. I will explain why further down.
1. Add your freshly grounded coffee beans to your French press.
2. Next, add your water to the coffee beans, stir with a spoon to wet all the coffee beans.
3. Make sure you put the lid on top of your French press. You can also cover this with plastic wrapping if the French press is too big to fit in your fridge entirely.

## Cold Brew Coffee Batch 2

Cold brew coffee batch 2
For this recipe you are going to add a little boiled water to the ground coffee first, to start extracting flavors straight away. This will result in different tasting cold brew coffee.
**Prep Time** 20 minutes
**Waiting Time** 14 hours
**Additional Time when storing in fridge** 2 hours
**Total Time** 16 hours 20 minutes
### Ingredients
- To make this recipe, you are going to need the following things to make a batch of cold brew extract:
- Coarsely ground coffee beans: 110 Grams
- Cold Water: 900 Grams
- Boiled Water: 100 Grams
- This recipe will be enough for 6 cups of cold brew coffee while diluted.
- Additionally, you can dilute your cold brew coffee with a little water, milk, or milk substitute
- I use 80 grams of cold brew extract and 40 grams of milk to make the most delicious cold brew coffee at home\!
### Instructions
First off, start by grinding your coffee beans if you have not done that yet. Make it a coarse grind; I will explain why further down.
1\. Add your freshly grounded coffee beans to your French press.
2\. Once the water has been boiled, leave it on your kitchen counter for 2 minutes. You don't need this water to be super hot. After the wait, slowly pour the water over the ground coffee beans into your French press.
2\. Next, add your cold water to the coffee beans, stir with a spoon to wet all the coffee beans.
3\. Make sure you put the lid on top of your French press. You can also cover this with plastic wrapping if the French press is too big to fit in your fridge entirely.
### Notes
#### What to do after brewing the coffee
After waiting for 14 hours, your cold brew extract is ready to be filtered. Slowly press down on the plunger of your French press and wait for it to reach the bottom. Pour the entire content into another cup or container. Something you can easily pour out your cold brew extract with.
This recipe will give you a stronger tasting cold brew, you will be using more coffee beans than batch number 1, and you are also going to use more cold brew extract when making this cold brew coffee. Of the two, this one is my favorite because it tastes even stronger than the other.

I'm dedicated to creating free content that's not only enjoyable to read but also super helpful. [Learn more \>](https://yourdreamcoffee.com/editorial-policy/)

## What is cold brew coffee?
First things first, let me tell you what cold brew coffee is; next up are the recipes. If you like the idea of cold brew coffee, I will give you 2 recipes to try out yourself.
**Cold brew coffee is coffee made by letting ground coffee beans and water steep for several hours. Usually ranging anywhere from 12 up to 24 hours.**
The [coffee beans for cold brew](https://yourdreamcoffee.com/best-coffee-beans-for-cold-brew/) will need to be ground very coarsely. If ground incorrectly, your cold brew will taste like a sour bomb.
### Why these recipes are the most delicious cold brew coffee you've ever made (and drank!)
The recipes I will provide you with are the most delicious because they have the right beans to water ratio.
It has been a long journey to get the correct amount of coffee and water to make the very best [cold brew](https://yourdreamcoffee.com/how-to-make-cold-brew-coffee/) I could imagine.

### Which coffee roast should you use for the cold brew recipes?
For the cold brew recipes, I suggest using [dark roasted](https://yourdreamcoffee.com/blonde-or-dark-roast-which-has-more-caffeine/#So_what_about_dark_roasted_coffee_beans) coffee as this will increases the strength of your final product.

### Notes
#### What to do after brewing the coffee
After waiting for 15 hours (I know it's long), your cold brew is done. The only thing left is to press down on your French press's plunger and pour out the cold brew extract. I suggest adding this cold brew extraction to a small container or mug with some sort of spout. This will make for easy pouring of your cold brew extract.

## How to serve your freshly made cold brew coffee
You want to dilute your cold brew coffee with a nice bit of water, milk, or a milk alternative like oat milk or almond milk. This way, your cold brew will still be very tasteful but not pack too much caffeine. You will be able to appreciate your cold brew a lot.
Serving the cold brew coffee is the most important thing to this recipe. If you are diluting too little of [the cold brew concentrate](https://yourdreamcoffee.com/cold-brew-concentrate/), you will end up with a much stronger cold brew you need.
Keep in mind that these recipes are made to my taste, and you can add more milk (or [substitute](https://foodsguy.com/best-substitute-for-milk-in-coffee/)), or you can replace it with water. Or you can choose to make it stronger by diluting it less than I have already given you.
## How to store the cold brew for its brewing time
You can choose to store your cold brew in the fridge if you've got the space and time.

## How long can you keep cold brew concentrate fresh?
[Cold brew coffee](https://yourdreamcoffee.com/how-to-make-cold-brew-coffee/) can be stored for up to 5 days when kept in the fridge.
The cold brew recipes are meant to make stronger than you need, [cold brew concentrate](https://yourdreamcoffee.com/cold-brew-concentrate/). The cold brew will need to be diluted a bit for the best drinking experience.
## Conclusion
I used these cold brew recipes for a few summers in a row and many more to come! I have shared my recipes with you and sincerely hope you will give them a try.
