Perhaps it's just my anecdotal experience, but I recall that a decade ago, Intel was the primary choice for gamers. Having an AMD processor for gaming was a little unusual, and I vaguely recall people claiming it was the inferior choice. But that may just be my imagination. At any rate, Intel seems to be in a pickle with the gaming community right now. Reports are coming in that high-end tournament gamers are experiencing issues when running their games, and they would prefer to use a computer with an AMD processor. ## Tournament gamers are noticing better performance with AMD processors vs. Intel  As spotted by [PC Gamer](https://www.pcgamer.com/hardware/processors/the-game-is-ass-on-anything-else-but-a-9800x3d-esports-players-are-complaining-about-using-intel-cpus-at-sponsored-tournaments-rather-than-amd-x3d-chips-with-multiple-claims-of-crashing-and-significantly-worse-performance/), the discourse over Intel vs. AMD for gaming began on X in a reply to a post about Counter-Strike 2. The original poster discussed that CS2 was " in a very good state right now," and the only real problem was the anti-cheat. This prompted Ropz, a professional CS2 player, to make their own post about how the game still has FPS issues, and that "the game is ass on anything else but a 9800X3D and not every tournament has that." This, in turn, was followed up by a post from Hardware Unboxed, which claimed that professional gamers were using X3D processors in their home computers. When they're then given a PC with an Intel CPU at a tournament, the players "find them too slow." They also claim that "multiple 13700K systems also crashed during the tournament, all were stock." If this is true, and professional players are finding that Intel CPUs are lacking compared to AMD, this could be huge for the gaming scene. Intel has held the throne for so long that any shift toward AMD would likely take years for the company to regain, if it ever can.
