Carpentry Training
Online carpentry apprenticeship programs by Penn Foster Workforce Development prepare learners with the fundamental skills and technical instruction to embark on a carpentry career. Carpentry classes delivered online include residential construction, planning and estimating, framing and foundation, blueprint rendering, and other related subjects to supplement on-the-job training. The skilled trade involves the drawing, erection, installation, and repair of buildings and structures.
Learners will receive industrial online training designed by the Bureau of Apprenticeship and Training (BAT). Learners will be taught:
- Basic mathematics, algebra, geometry, and trigonometry
- The application of basic concepts in construction and maintenance and how to read drawings
- Wood and material classifications, along with framing methods
- Roof and stair building techniques
- Wood selection for cabinetry, millwork and moldings
- The National Building Code and requirements for conceptual design, construction and renovation
