Read this guide to learn more about how to clean your washing machine. ##### Supplies - affresh® tablets1 or other washing machine cleaner - Clean towel or rag - Washing machine cleaning wipes ![affresh® tablets](https://www.whirlpool.com/is/image/content/dam/business-unit/whirlpoolv2/en-us/marketing-content/site-assets/page-content/oc-articles/clean-washing-machine/clean-washing-machine_CC_1.png?fit=constrain&fmt=png-alpha&wid=2875) ### Step 1: Clean washer with affresh brand tablets - Remove any items left in the tub. - Add an [affresh® Washing Machine Cleaner tablet](https://www.whirlpool.com/accessories/laundry-accessories/washer/p.washing-machine-cleaner-tablets-6-count.w10501250.html "Shop affresh® Washing Machine Cleaner tablets") to the bottom of the tub to break up dirt and residue. If it does, it needs to be cleaned every thirty days. - Pull out the dispenser drawer until you feel resistance. Depending on your washer, the drawer may or may not be completely removable. Note that dispensers may not be dishwasher safe. - Use a machine cleaning wipe to wipe down all surfaces. If you don't have wipes, use a damp cloth or an all-purpose cleaner as needed. Not all agitator caps are removable. If there’s any doubt, check your owner’s manual. If it does, it needs to be cleaned every thirty days. - Pull out the dispenser drawer until you feel resistance. Depending on your washer, the drawer may or may not be completely removable. Note that dispensers may not be dishwasher safe. - Use a machine cleaning wipe to wipe down all surfaces. If you don't have wipes, use a damp cloth or an all-purpose cleaner as needed.
