When we asked for help to harness our children because we hadn’t been here for a while Aw Yong replied “ you need to do it yourself you shouldn’t rely on the staff.. you all attended the briefing” We were shocked at this negligent approach to safety and explained we hadn’t been here for sometime so we wanted to make sure it was fitted right - to which the girl replied “ you were just here in July” (last visit the other staff kindly fitted the harnesses. To cut a long story short - later the manager “Mark” graced us with his presence and continually interrupted and cut my Wife off when talking to him - so incredibly rude and disrespectful. There was one very nice and helpful staff “Dia” who volunteered to help check the harnesses quite contrary to her colleagues and we were very grateful to her. People there - crew and climbers are friendly and look out for each other. We received friendly advice from more experienced climbers - it was like a community. Given that I didn't quite overcome my fear for scaling tall walls, I will go back , this time perhaps for some professional instructions. Climb Central has various walls designed with different levels of difficulties for climbers. We tried the 12m and 8m walls and the kids just loved it to bits. They kept climbing and went for many rounds with their boundless energy. We learned to appreciate rock climbing after this experience and thought it was a great form of family bonding as well as exercise as it involved your whole body. If you have not been to Climb Central at Kallang Wave Mall, you should try out too. It was packed with people over the weekend we were there and now we know why they love it so much\! The staff are really friendly and chatty- really made a big positive difference for beginner climbers like me. Close to MRT and easy to get to. It can get a bit warm with the sun overhead the atrium, so avoid the middle of the day if you can. The staff are friendly and helpful. They have explained to us the safety briefing patiently. My kids enjoyed their climbing very much! Perfect way for kids to bond together & even parents can try their climbing skills\! This was the first wall climbing for kids as well as adults. 15 min brief from very helpful staff can get u going. The party room could do with more interior decoration... but, do the kids even care... actually prefer is to be that way... keep it simple; let kids be kids. There are plenty of options to get the food from the Kallang Wave mall outlets. Also really liked the auto-belay devices that allow solo climbing, or little races amongst your party. Price-wise slightly more expensive than say Onsight, but accessibility wins (Stadium MRT). It's Indoors, Air-conditioned, Kids friendly, climbers certification not required, practice holds area, low bouldering,many rated holds from 5a-6c pls Level 2 challenge walls and Auto Belays\! ~to make it hassle free, online pre-registration will help http://www.climbcentral.sg/walk-in-entry.html ~the counter staff do not work as fast as I'd like but they are a pretty friendly bunch of young folks ~for your first time, you'd be given a small barcoded tag keyring to sign and keep after your safety briefing, on return trips just show this tag to check in ~you can bring your own or rent the harness and climbing shoes. When you rent you'd need to hand over a photo ID you can collect upon returning the equipment ~there are changing rooms and lockers you can rent at \$2 from the counter, the ladies changing room does not have restroom facilities which are on the 2nd floor ~there are also open shelves you can store your stuff in the open, but I'd recommend the lockers, also bring your own water or buy bottled mineral water at the counter ~climbing shoes are compulsory on the wall but you can go barefoot on the floor (no other footwear allowed) ~the Auto Belays are super fun when you reach the top and gather your courage to drop back down..; lotsa kids take this route so if they can do it.... just grab the yellow rope with one hand and then the other, it should catch in 2 seconds and lower you slowly to the ground, it took me at 100kg ~many of the rated rock climbing routes do not need special belaying equipment, and you can easily learn how to belay someone during the safety briefing ~I've been here with family, friends, colleagues etc it's by far a favorited venue for new climbers, have fun, stay safe :) Read more      Written June 7, 2015 This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. ~Why for Noobs? It's Indoors, Air-conditioned, Kids friendly, climbers certification not required, practice holds area, low bouldering,many rated holds from 5a-6c pls Level 2 challenge walls and Auto Belays\! ~to make it hassle free, online pre-registration will help http://www.climbcentral.sg/walk-in-entry.html ~the counter staff do not work as fast as I'd like but they are a pretty friendly bunch of young folks ~for your first time, you'd be given a small barcoded tag keyring to sign and keep after your safety briefing, on return trips just show this tag to check in ~you can bring your own or rent the harness and climbing shoes. When you rent you'd need to hand over a photo ID you can collect upon returning the equipment ~there are changing rooms and lockers you can rent at \$2 from the counter, the ladies changing room does not have restroom facilities which are on the 2nd floor ~there are also open shelves you can store your stuff in the open, but I'd recommend the lockers, also bring your own water or buy bottled mineral water at the counter ~climbing shoes are compulsory on the wall but you can go barefoot on the floor (no other footwear allowed) ~the Auto Belays are super fun when you reach the top and gather your courage to drop back down..; lotsa kids take this route so if they can do it.... just grab the yellow rope with one hand and then the other, it should catch in 2 seconds and lower you slowly to the ground, it took me at 100kg ~many of the rated rock climbing routes do not need special belaying equipment, and you can easily learn how to belay someone during the safety briefing ~I've been here with family, friends, colleagues etc it's by far a favorited venue for new climbers, have fun, stay safe :)
