It is not required to drive within the EU, or within the countries that are party to the Geneva Convention on Road Traffic, as the Maltese Driving Licence is accepted within the EU. If you wish to drive a motor vehicle in another country other than in a Member State, you may apply to the Authority for the issuance of an international driving permit in accordance with the provisions of any international convention applicable to Malta. The fee for the International Driving Permit is €33.25 and is valid for one year from date of issue.
