It also establishes privacy protection safeguards which apply generally to companies that “conduct business in Texas or produce a product or service consumed by residents of Texas” and that collect, use, store, sell, share, analyze, or process consumers’ personal data.  ### [Mandatory Data Breach Reporting](https://www.texasattorneygeneral.gov/consumer-protection/data-breach-reporting) Texas law requires the reporting of data breaches to the Office of the Attorney General if 250 or more Texans are affected.
