Echo360
Echo360 is a video capture and streaming service primarily used to record lectures and other live events for later access. The Echo360 app gives you the flexibility and convenience of watching lectures on your own device. You can even download lecture recordings using the University wi-fi and then watch these offline when commuting.
To download Echo360 app:
go to your unit of study website in your Learning Management System (Canvas) and select âRecorded Lecturesâ (2019 Recordings for Compass users), in the left-hand navigation menu.

Agree to the terms and conditions and step through the Microsoft authentication process.
Use the menu to navigate through to available software and resources.
Microsoft Office 365
You can access the Microsoft Office 365 ProPlus subscription on up to five of your devices. This gives you access to the latest versions of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and OneNote.
Your Office 365 software will remain activated as long as you are enrolled at the University and connect to the internet at least once every 30 days.
To get Office:
visit the Microsoft Online Portal, enter your student email address and password, then select work or school account
you will be redirected to the Office 365 page. Select âInstallâ to download the client
open the client and follow the instructions.

RStudio is an integrated development environment (IDE) for R. It includes a console, syntax-highlighting editor that supports direct code execution, as well as tools for plotting, history, debugging and workspace management.
R is a language and environment for statistical computing and graphics.
R provides a wide variety of statistical (linear and nonlinear modelling, classical statistical tests, time-series analysis, classification, clustering) and graphical techniques, and is highly extensible. The S language is often the vehicle of choice for research in statistical methodology, and R provides an Open Source route to participation in that activity.

You can access further apps on our desktops through the Citrix Workspace app. This includes:

Echo360
Echo360 is a video capture and streaming service primarily used to record lectures and other live events for later access. The Echo360 app gives you the flexibility and convenience of watching lectures on your own device. You can even download lecture recordings using the University wi-fi and then watch these offline when commuting.
To download Echo360 app:
- go to your unit of study website in your Learning Management System (Canvas) and select âRecorded Lecturesâ (2019 Recordings for Compass users), in the left-hand navigation menu.
- download the Echo360 app to your smartphone
- follow the prompts and enter your University of Sydney email address, followed by your UniKey.

MATLAB helps you with numerical computation, visualisation and programming. With MATLAB you can analyse data, develop algorithms and create models.

Microsoft Azure Dev Tools for Teaching
All students and teaching staff at the University of Sydney may download and install copies of various Microsoft products via the [Azure Dev Tools for Teaching portal](https://azureforeducation.microsoft.com/devtools).
There are 140 different Microsoft products available including:
- Microsoft Project
- SQL Server
- Visual Studio
- Visio
- Windows 10
- Windows Server 2019
Follow the easy steps to access these products:
1. Go to [Azure Dev Tools](https://azureforeducation.microsoft.com/devtools).
2. Sign in or enrol with your University email address. Do not use a personal email account.
3. Agree to the terms and conditions and step through the Microsoft authentication process.
4. Use the menu to navigate through to available software and resources.
Microsoft Office 365
You can access the Microsoft Office 365 ProPlus subscription on up to five of your devices. This gives you access to the latest versions of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and OneNote.
Your Office 365 software will remain activated as long as you are enrolled at the University and connect to the internet at least once every 30 days.
To get Office:
- visit the Microsoft Online Portal, enter your student email address and password, then select work or school account
- you will be redirected to the Office 365 page. Select âInstallâ to download the client
- open the client and follow the instructions.
Office 365 is available on Windows and Mac OS.

Microsoft OneDrive
Microsoft OneDrive is a file sync and share service from Microsoft that is part of the Office365. It allows you to access your files from multiple devices anywhere. The OneDrive client can also be used to sync and share files that are associated with Teams chats and Sharepoint sites.

NVivo
NVivo enables you to handle rich text based information. It automates many manual tasks associated with analysis, such as data classification and sorting.
It is available on Windows and Mac OS X.

RStudio
RStudio is an integrated development environment (IDE) for R. It includes a console, syntax-highlighting editor that supports direct code execution, as well as tools for plotting, history, debugging and workspace management.
R is a language and environment for statistical computing and graphics.
R provides a wide variety of statistical (linear and nonlinear modelling, classical statistical tests, time-series analysis, classification, clustering) and graphical techniques, and is highly extensible. The S language is often the vehicle of choice for research in statistical methodology, and R provides an Open Source route to participation in that activity.
To use RStudio, R must be installed.

SafeZone
SafeZone is a free safety app for all students and staff and part of our commitment to keeping our community safe. It connects you quickly with Protective Services and emergency teams and sends important safety notifications.

SAS
SAS is a statistical software that allows you to perform data management, visualisation and prediction.
You will need to accept the SAS Student Use Agreement online to obtain a copy of SAS.
SAS is available on Windows and Linux.

SensusAccess
SensusAccess allows you to convert your media files into a wide range of accessible and alternate formats to suit your needs. It is a self-service technology that is simple to use. Find out more about SensusAccess and its capabilities.

Sydney Uni App
The Sydney Uni app offers a wide range of tools and services to help enhance your University experience.
Through the app you can access your class timetable and wayfinding campus maps that can direct you straight to your classroom. You can also book a study space, a GP or library appointment, find food outlets, and even view the Student Centre queue.

### Streamed apps
An alternative to installing apps on your computer is the [UniConnect Cloud portal](https://sydneyuni.service-now.com/sm?id=kb_article_view&sysparm_article=KB0014433&sys_kb_id=79e35d341baf0810bf890edbdc4bcb05). Through an online connection you can run specialist apps from your device both on and off campus.

You will need to download the Citrix Workspace app and have a reliable internet connection to access the apps.
Be aware that files on the âremote sessionâ are not saved. To save files created using these apps, you'll need to save them to your device (eg. USB drive).

A list of available apps will appear, which you can then open.
iPads and Android tablets
1\. Download the Citrix Workspace app from your deviceâs app store.
2\. Open the Citrix Workspace app and fill in the following before saving:
- **Store URL:** https://uniconnect.cloud.com
- **Username:** Shared\\\<Your UniKey\> e.g. shared\\jsmi1234
- **Password:** your UniKey password
- **Choose a store:** Store

The Code Repository is a software repository management platform using an enterprise edition of GitHub. The Code Repository is a tool to provide a university-wide resource for code management, code review, and general collaboration at The University of Sydney.
