Overall, 29 percent agreed that the reason behind the name change was to avoid legal repercussions. Additionally, 51 percent agreed that the name change was to distance itself from recent controversy. Overall, 29 percent agreed that the reason behind the name change was to avoid legal repercussions. In late October, Facebook restructured and rebranded itself as Meta while announcing a strategic shift towards the metaverse, a virtual reality project. Additionally, 51 percent agreed that the name change was to distance itself from recent controversy. Overall, 29 percent agreed that the reason behind the name change was to avoid legal repercussions. In late October, Facebook restructured and rebranded itself as Meta while announcing a strategic shift towards the metaverse, a virtual reality project.
