Mark Zuckerberg shared his thoughts on "The Social Network" during a recent podcast appearance.  Chris Unger/Zuffa LLC More than a decade since “ The Social Network ” hit theaters, Mark Zuckerberg is still critiquing the film that portrayed the creation of Facebook.  The tech mogul appeared on the YouTube podcast “The Colin and Samir Show” this week, and reflected on the one and only time he watched the 2010 biographical drama, which tells the story of how he founded the social media platform in the early 2000s.   “It was weird, man,” Zuckerberg said during the interview, which was published on Thursday, March 27. “They got all these very specific details of what I was wearing, or these specific things correct, but then the whole narrative arc around my motivations and all this stuff were like, completely wrong.” Article continues below this ad He particularly noted the plotline of his character being “motivated by trying to find a girlfriend” as inaccurate. Zuckerberg said he was actually dating his now-wife Priscilla Chan before even starting the company.  Despite his distaste for the film’s portrayal of his story, Zuckerberg said that he still arranged for his Facebook employees to watch it together when it premiered. He even bought a prop from the set.  San Francisco Chronicle Logo Make us a Preferred Source to get more of our news when you search. Add Preferred Source In fact, during the recent interview, Zuckerberg wore the prop, a blue “Ardsley Athletics” T-shirt that Jesse Eisenberg wore onscreen while playing him in the film. Zuckerberg briefly attended Ardsley High School, a public school in New York, before transferring to Phillips Exeter Academy in New Hampshire his junior year.   When asked about the fashion choice, Zuckerberg revealed that one of his friends encouraged him to buy it in an online auction. It was listed on PropstoreAuction.com and valued between $2,000 and $4,000. His winning bid was $4,095. Article continues below this ad “Yes, this is his shirt. Well, it’s my shirt now. But it was his shirt,” he confirmed on the podcast.  Though Zuckerberg proudly flaunted the item, Eisenberg doesn’t seem to share the same interest in the Meta CEO.  While speaking on BBC Radio last month, the Academy Award-nominated actor emphasized his efforts to distance himself from Zuckerberg due to his recent “problematic” decisions regarding his social media platforms. Datebook Picks “I don’t want to think of myself as associated with somebody like that,” Eisenberg said on last month, adding that Zuckerberg’s policies were “making people who are already threatened in this work more threatened.”  Article continues below this ad The interview came shortly after Meta, the parent company of Facebook and Instagram, replaced its independent fact-checkers with “community notes” that allow users to challenge the accuracy of posts.  Reach Zara Irshad: zara.irshad@sfchronicle.com March 31, 2025 Staff Writer Zara Irshad is the Chronicle's Arts & Entertainment Engagement Reporter.
