Together, these technologies create a massive network of intelligent machines with fundamentally new challenges, such as network connectivity, mobility and security. All this amidst new patterns of load, difficulty in generation and EHV plant-up, public health and environmental sustainability concerns, as well as, changing regulatory landscape. This session will describe our experience in implementing a middleware that is based on the Object Management Group Data Distribution ServiceTM (DDSTM) standard variant of the Open Field Message Bus OpenFMB reference architecture. In order to deploy these ideas, one needs to consider what is needed to fully support a network of a highly interconnected assets (software and hardware alike). In the case of the Asia Pacific region, one of the most relevant efforts is Singapore’s own Future of Manufacturing (FoM) Initiative, led by the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A\*STAR). As part of the FoM Initiative, the Model Factory @ ARTC offers opportunities for manufacturers, technology providers and the broader industry to: - Learn how the technologies are implemented on manufacturing use-cases - Test process improvements enabled by the technologies at the facility, without disrupting their own operations - Co-develop technology solutions - Support the adoption of solutions at their everyday industrial operation.
