I’m writing today to welcome two new colleagues to the Opinion Shows team. Stephanie Khoury and Julian Hackney are both joining as video editors for our podcasts.  Stephanie Khoury began her career documenting life through drawing. She then moved into the field of video and film, where she has edited many award-winning documentaries. Stephanie worked on the feature documentary “Remaining Native,” which won both the audience award and the documentary special jury award in South by Southwest’s 2025 Documentary Feature Competition. She has also edited several nonfiction series, such as Vox Media Studio’s “Glad You Asked” and PBS’s “The Future of America’s Past.” She was a 2019-20 fellow of the Karen Schmeer Film Editing Fellowship and was selected as a Sundance Story and Edit Lab fellow in 2023 for “Remaining Native.” Steph also has worked on several short films. “Sheila and Joe” placed second in the documentary daily life category at the Pictures of the Year awards. Her edit of “Death Metal Grandma” was awarded best documentary at the Emerging Filmmakers Pavilion at the Cannes Film Festival. This film eventually found its way to becoming one of our very own Op-Docs .   Steph graduated from Ithaca College with a B.A. in documentary studies and production and minors in art and environmental studies.  Julian Hackney comes to The Times from Tidal, where he edited music documentaries, artist performances and brand-forward storytelling projects. He got his start as an editor at Jump Cut, a creative agency focused on independent and international film campaigns. There, he worked on trailers, promos and social content for clients including Netflix, Sony Pictures Classics, Neon, IFC Films, PBS and Film at Lincoln Center.  Julian grew up obsessed with film in all its forms, including everything from legendary directors to the ritual of popcorn in a dark theater. Julian first discovered his love of editing while co-creating a web series. In postproduction, experimenting with pacing, structure and juxtaposition, the storytelling clicked. He is especially proud of editing the Chaplin Award Gala tribute honoring Spike Lee, which aired during the release of “NYC Epicenters 9/11-2021½.” Julian is a graduate of Bates College, where he double majored in film and television rhetoric and African American studies.  Welcome, Stephanie and Julian.  — Jan
