They include:\nPain, swelling, or redness where the vaccine was injected\nMild fever\nChills\nFeeling tired\nHeadache\nMuscle and joint aches\nWHAT ARE RARE SIDE-EFFECTS OF THE COVID-19 VACCINE?\n \nLess common side effects reported for some COVID-19 vaccines have included\nDifficulty breathing\nSwelling of the face and throat\nA fast heartbeat\nA bad rash all over your body\nDizziness and weakness\nThese serious side effects from vaccines are extremely rare. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention advises people to be monitored for 15 minutes after vaccination, and those with a history of other allergies for 30 minutes, so they can be monitored and treated immediately if they have a reaction.\nWHEN TO CALL THE DOCTOR\nIn most cases, discomfort from pain or fever is a normal sign that your body is building protection. Contact your doctor or healthcare provider:\nIf the redness or tenderness where you got the injection gets worse after 24 hours\nIf your side effects are worrying you or do not seem to be going away after a few days\nHOW LONG COULD SYMPTOMS OR SIDE EFFECTS OF COVID-19 VACCINATION LAST?\nThe vaccine side effects should resolve within about 2 to 3 days  of taking a COVID-19 vaccine. At most, those side effects can last up to a week.\nWHAT DOES IT MEAN IF THERE ARE NO SIDE EFFECTS AFTER GETTING VACCINATED?\nWhile the symptoms show your immune system is responding to the vaccine in a way that will protect against disease, evidence from clinical trials showed that people with few or no symptoms were also protected.\nSHOULD A PERSON TAKE THE SECOND DOSE IF THE FIRST DOSE CAUSED SIDE EFFECTS?\nIf the side effects following the first dose were mild or moderate, a person should have the second vaccination. However, if there was a severe allergic reaction to the first dose, then the second dose isn’t advisable. With that said, please discuss your options with your healthcare provider as each case would need to be carefully assessed.\nWHAT IS THE CLOTTING CONDITION?\nA blood clot that develops after vaccination is called a Vaccine Induced Thrombosis. The most serious of these clots tend to occur in large veins in the brain and abdomen while the platelets (that would normally be part of the clotting process) drop dangerously low as well. This is called Vaccine Induced Thrombotic Thrombocytopenia. It is an extremely rare condition, but local experts and treatments are available.\nWHAT ARE THE SYMPTOMS OF THIS CLOTTING CONDITION?\nSevere headache that does not go away. It may occur with blurred vision, vomiting, weakness on one side of the body or difficulty speaking.\nSevere abdominal pain that does not go away. It may be associated with vomiting.\nA rash of tiny red spots might occur under the skin around the injection site.\nLeg pain or swelling.\nChest pain or shortness of breath.\nWHAT SHOULD YOU DO IF YOU HAVE ANY BLOOD CLOTTING  SYMPTOMS?\nIf you get any of  the above symptoms, act without delay:\nSeek care immediately. You may experience some mild side effects after getting vaccinated, which are signs that your body is building protection. They include:\n\n- Pain, swelling, or redness where the vaccine was injected\n- Mild fever\n- Chills\n- Feeling tired\n- Headache\n- Muscle and joint aches\n\n[WHAT ARE RARE SIDE-EFFECTS OF THE COVID-19 VACCINE?](https:\/\/www.nicd.ac.za\/covid-19-vaccine-side-effects-faq\/)\n\nLess common side effects reported for some COVID-19 vaccines have included\n\n- Difficulty breathing\n- Swelling of the face and throat\n- A fast heartbeat\n- A bad rash all over your body\n- Dizziness and weakness\n\nThese serious side effects from vaccines are extremely rare.
