| Boilerpipe Text | The Trump Organization, founded by President
Donald Trump
and co-led by his sons Eric and Donald Jr., announced the launch of the Trump International Hotel and Tower in Dubai, just weeks ahead the president's visit to the Gulf region. The hotel expands the company's portfolio in the Middle East.
Newsweek
has reached out to the
Trump organization
for comment via email on Wednesday.
Why It Matters
The announcement of a Trump-branded hotel in Dubai underscores the deepening ties between the president's affiliated company and the Gulf nation. Trump is set to visit Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates in the coming weeks, while his son
Eric
is currently there.
Concerns about the blurred line between politics and personal business interests have been repeatedly raised throughout both the first and second Trump administrations.
What To Know
The Trump Organization owns dozens of properties worldwide, with current and planned holdings in North America, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Indonesia, the United Arab Emirates and Oman. The company operates hotels and golf courses, as well as domestic commercial real estate.
The Trump Organization and Saudi luxury real estate developer Dar Global, have announced the Middle East's first and only Trump International Hotel and Tower. The announcement marks the fifth time the duo will be working together in the region.
The 80-floor tower will have two "distinctive penthouses with sky pools" the company's press release said. Dar Global described the project as a "new icon" for the international city, which already features an impressive skyline that includes the Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in the world.
The hotel and tower will offer suites, private lounges, personalized services as well as a resort-style pool for residents. The development, which is on the main Sheikh Zayed Road, will offer three- and four-bedroom apartments and penthouses.
The Trump Organization already operates a golf course in Dubai and has promoted plans for a Trump Tower in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
The announcement comes as Eric is in Dubai.
"This whole region is dependent on a strong America. And I hear that time and time again. I hear that from the biggest leaders in the Gulf. Dubai, like the entire world, thrives on a healthy, safe world, and that's what President Trump wants," Eric told Reuters.
Eric announced that the building will accept bitcoin payments. He is scheduled to speak at a crypto conference.

What People Are Saying
Ziad El Chaar, Dar Global CEO said in a statement:
"Dubai's vibrant economy and strategic location make it a prime destination for global investment, and Dar Global recognizes this potential. The Trump International Hotel & Tower, developed alongside the Trump Organization, is perfectly positioned to capitalize on this growth, offering investors a unique opportunity to participate in Dubai's success story."
Eric Trump, The Trump Organization Executive Vice President, said in a statement:
"Trump International Hotel & Tower, Dubai is a project that reflects our unwavering commitment to excellence, luxury and innovation. We are honored to partner once again with Dar Global on this landmark development, bringing unparalleled quality and world-class amenities to Dubai's luxury market."
What Happens Next
The Dubai tower is expected to be completed between 2030 and 2031, with a gross development value of $1 billion, according Dar Global. The Trump Organization has several other forthcoming projects in the Middle East, including the opening of a resort in Oman.
Trump is set to travel to the Middle East in mid-May. |
