When you apply for a Schengen visa you must show proof of insurance, such as the first page of your insurance policy (policy schedule). The document must show that:
you are covered by the policy
the insurance provides cover in all the
countries of the Schengen area
for the entire duration of your stay
the insurance covers at least ā¬30,000 in medical expenses for:
hospital admission and treatmentĀ
emergency treatmentĀ
prescription medicine
repatriation to your country of residence (including in the event of death).
If you already have health insurance or travel insurance that covers medical expenses, check whether it meets these requirements. Also check whether your policy schedule includes the required information before you apply for a Schengen visa.
If your insurer cannot issue proof of insurance bearing your name and containing the other required information, take out insurance with another insurer.Ā
