This 60-credit program can be completed in two years, with late afternoon and evening classes designed for working professionals. Summer and winter courses are offered online. In small cohorts of 15, students progress together as a supportive community. You’ll complete 700 hours of clinical experience, including three practicum credits and 12 internship credits, meeting New York State licensure requirements. The curriculum explores values, cultures, techniques, and interventions for preventing and treating diverse mental health issues, preparing you to work with clients across backgrounds and developmental stages.

Although any major is welcome, we see most applicants from majors in human services, psychology, counseling or related fields. Applicants are required to successfully complete prerequisite courses in introductory psychology, introductory counseling, abnormal psychology and research methods by the start of the program. |

## New York State Licensure
The curriculum is designed to lead to eligibility to apply for a limited permit, provide preparation for the National Clinical Mental Health Counseling Exam, and eventual full licensure as a mental health counselor in New York State. It should be noted that licensure in New York includes a background check. The licensure requirements can be found at: <http://www.op.nysed.gov/prof/mhp/mhclic.htm>. Each student will be responsible for applying for licensure upon completion of the degree.
The M.S. Clinical Mental Health Counseling program at Le Moyne College holds Diagnostic Privilege Designation. Once licensed, graduates of this program will have the appropriate diagnostic education to quality for their own Diagnostic Privilege permit.
