The last Reuters/Ipsos Core Political poll  , released April 17, reflecting current American public opinion, shows that about two in five Americans approve of President Joe Biden’s job performance, this is relatively unchanged since 2022. Political extremism and threats to democracy are the top concern and most are pessimistic about the direction of the country. President Biden popularity evolution We asked Americans how they feel about the way Joe Biden is handling his job as president. A majority continue to be unhappy with his job performance (56%).  To learn more about our methodology, download the full report . Joe Biden's approval rating among partisans What do Republicans, Democrats and independents think of how Biden is handling the presidency? Democrats are generally supportive of the president’s job performance, while Republicans are extremely unhappy. Independents’ perceptions are in line with the general public. Americans' current opinion about problems in the U.S. Political extremism or threats to democracy are the number one issue, followed by the economy and immigration.  Democrats and independents see political extremism or threats to democracy as the number one issue, followed distantly by the economy. Among independents, immigration is also seen as an important third tier issue, but this there is no clear third place issue for Democrats. Republicans view immigration as the the top issue, followed by the economy, and political extremism or threats to democracy.  How do Americans feel about the direction of the country?
