450% William O'Neil Winner Profited Off Of This Significant Medical Sector Innovation
After all, who doesn't love a bargain? Surely, the lure of finding a stock that triples from $1 to $3 a share, or quintuples from 50 cents to $2.50, seems irresistible. But do you know the unique problems and subtle challenges of hunting cheap stocks to buy for big gains? Let's consider a few.
Cheap Stocks To Buy: The Challenges
Hundreds of equities trade at a "low" price on both the Nasdaq and NYSE. So, how can you pick the winners consistently? A second challenge: Most institutional money managers don't touch cheap stocks.
Imagine a large-cap mutual fund trying to buy tens or even hundreds of millions of dollars' worth in a stock that trades at 30 cents a share. If trading volume is thin, the fund manager would have an awfully tough time accumulating shares — without making a big impact on the stock price.
Third, IBD's decades of research find that dozens, if not hundreds, of great stocks each year do not start out as penny stocks. They already trade at $20, $40 or $80 a share before they
break out of a bullish pattern
, then go on mind-blowing rallies.
Another cold, hard truth that proponents of penny stocks don't tell you? Many low-priced shares stay low for a very long time.
So, if your hard-earned money is tied up in a penny stock that fails to generate meaningful capital appreciation, you're not just nursing a dud stock. You face the lost opportunity of getting a
true market leader such as names that enter IBD Leaderboard
as well as the
IBD 50
,
IBD Sector Leaders
,
Long-Term Leaders
, and
IBD Big Cap 20
. These stocks often enjoy solid institutional buying, even if their share prices trade in the triple or quadruple digits. Institutional accumulation undeniably plays a huge role in successful investing.
This Magnificent Seven Name Is A Buy Now; Here's Why
How To Screen For Great Cheap Stocks To Buy
IBD Stock Screener
filters cheap stocks that trade at $10 or less per share and carry the key fundamental, technical and fund ownership quality traits routinely seen among the greatest stock market winners.
Keep in mind that liquidity is often thin. You might not get trade executions at an ideal price. So, check the gap between a cheap stock's best bid and best ask prices, or the difference between what one investor is willing to pay and another is willing to sell. The smaller the gap between best bid and best ask, the less price slippage.
Never forget the No. 1 rule of investing:
keep losses under control

Silvercorp Delivers New Entry Point
Silvercorp Metals
(
SVM
), which trades on the American Stock Exchange, had been leading the stock market. Shares more than doubled since Jan. 1 to a recent peak at 5.32. But on Tuesday, Silvercorp and fellow mining stocks continued to get punished following the U.S. elections. Since last Thursday's close, SVM has fallen a disappointing 17%. Plus, volume has been elevated.
On Thursday, amid a small gain in silver futures to $30.71 an ounce, Silvercorp rebounded 2.3% and challenged the 4 price level.
Silvercorp's latest base showed
elements of a double bottom
with a middle peak of 3.91. See it between the early July low of 3.27 and a lower low of 2.96. SVM had been sharply extended from the
5% buy zone
from 3.91 up to 4.11, but that's no longer the case.
The gain from this 3.91 buy point briefly exceeded
the 20%-25% profit zone
. Taking gains often at 20% to 25%, or perhaps a bit more, helps reduce painful drawdowns in the portfolio.
This column had suggested watching for a potential new entry, such as a base-on-base pattern or a
normal pullback to the 10-week moving average
.
On Nov. 7 shares finished at 4.59, mildly above the 10-week line at 4.47. That served as an actionable entry. However, on the very next day Silvercorp dropped sharply below the 50-day moving average, down 10% and breaking expectations. Plus, Silvercorp has made an unfavorable round trip of the solid gains from the double-bottom base breakout at 3.91.
So, at this point, SVM has triggered a pair of key sell rules — a
big break of the 10-week moving average
and a round trip of strong short-term gains — to defend against any remaining profits and to keep losses small.
On Nov. 7, shares rose 1.3% after hours after Silvercorp posted adjusted EPS of 9 cents and revenue of $68 million, up 26% vs. a year ago. But with the recent decline in gold and silver futures prices, mining stocks including SVM have struggled. Therefore, this column will likely replace Silvercorp.
After an initial breakout attempt on Aug. 29, the small cap quickly headed south and fell more than 7% below the 3.91 pivot point. This action was bearish and triggered the most important rule:
cut losses short
. However, Silvercorp rebounded fiercely. On Sept. 13, shares retook the prior double-bottom entry at 3.91 and also crossed a trendline entry near 4.
The Vancouver-based miner has operations in Canada and China. Silvercorp's second-quarter results proved a bonanza. Earnings soared 140% to 12 cents a share on a 20% jump in sales to $72.2 million.Â
According to MarketSurge
, analysts see earnings rising 30% and 35% vs. year-ago levels to 8 cents each in the next two quarters. Revenue is seen up 32% in Q3 to $71.3 million and up 32% again in Q4 to $77.1 million. Sales over the past four quarters topped $226 million. Silvercorp also earned 27 cents a share over that four-quarter span.

Cheap Stocks To Buy And Watch: New Entry In Aerospace Firm
CPI Aerostructures
(
CVU
), which trades on the Amex and makes structural parts for fixed-wing aircraft and helicopters, bolted out of an early-stage cup pattern with a 2.94 buy point on Aug. 27. Shares climbed more than 4% and hit a session high of 3.09 in thick turnover before cooling off.
But on Thursday, CPI Aerostructures crashed on Q3 results. The stock dropped more than 10% and fell way below its 50-day moving average in heavy volume after announcing that third-quarter earnings tripled to 6 cents a share. But sales edged 5% lower to $19.4 million. CPI's sales have increased just once in the past three quarters.
This column had noted that investors could wait until the stock clears the newly formed handle atop the cup. In mid-September CVU cleared this handle with a 3.11 entry and has gotten
well extended past the 5% buy zone
. For now, the 3.50 price level continues to act as a ceiling of resistance.
But with Thursday's deep sell-off, CPI Aerostructures has instead delivered a sell rule by giving back all the gain from the breakout past 3.11.
CPI Aerostructures on average trades less than 30,000 shares a day. So it's thinly traded. Yet CPI Aero has been showing relative strength vs. the S&P 500 in recent weeks. Also, the
relative strength line
breached its April peak; that signals unusual strength.
One could have drawn a trendline from the cup's left-side peak and determined a lower, more aggressive buy point near 2.70.
The Edgewood, N.Y., firm began trading on the American Stock Exchange in late September 2022. The company recently reported a 22% rise in second-quarter earnings to 11 cents a share on a 1% increase in sales to $20.8 million. MarketSurge showed no full-year earnings estimates. The firm's president and CEO, Dorith Hakim, had previously served as group VP at
Parker Hannifin
(
PH
), where she directed the global supply chain for 11 divisions.
According to MarketSurge
, there are no published earnings or sales estimates for the company. In the year-ago quarter, CPI Aerostructures posted earnings of 2 cents a share and sales of $20.4 million.
Recently, CVU showed a very bullish 2.8 up/down volume ratio. It has since eased to 1.8, still very positive. But after Thursday's sell-off, this ratio should fall. An up/down more than 1.0 signifies heavy volume during up days vs. down days over the past 50 trading sessions. Please check out this
Investor's Corner for more on the up/down volume ratio
.

Cheap Stocks Under $10: Finnish Giant
Nokia
(
NOK
), the Finish telecom giant, was a superstar during the late 1990s tech rally. Today, with a nearly $27 billion market value, it is not a small cap. Nevertheless, the stock rose 8.9% in the week ended Oct. 18 to 4.75. Also, Nokia surged past a shallow flat base with a 4.52 buy point. On Tuesday, NOK sank 1.5% to 4.50 and is just below this new entry.
Wireless play Nokia is now testing a key buy point and gained a nickel, or 1%. Its uptrend remains intact.
Shares continue to rally, and NOK hit a multiyear high of 4.95 last week. This column noted the
5% buy zone
from 4.52 goes up to 4.75. Therefore, NOK was extended. But in recent days, the stock has pulled back sharply and is now just above the entry.
At this point, it makes sense to keep watching Nokia and waiting for the sell-off to end.
In general, it's a savvy strategy to avoid buying shares no more than 5% above the pivot point. Why? After a breakout to new highs, a stock often pulls back as some traders cash in on the rally. In many cases, the stock drops right to the
proper buy point
or even a few points below it.
On Oct. 18, the company announced Melissa Schoeb will leave the company as its chief corporate affairs officer while Jenni Lukander, president of the Nokia Technologies business group, is also exiting. Meantime, Mikko Hautala, a former Finnish ambassador to the U.S., will join the firm as chief geopolitical and government relations officer.
According to MarketSurge
, Nokia is expected to grow earnings 8% this year to 35 cents a share, revised lower from 36 cents.
Trailing four-quarter sales totaled $20.7 billion. But in each of the past four quarters, sales fell 21%, 21%, 19% and 3% vs. year-ago levels. According to MarketSurge, the top line is expected to grow mildly in three of the next four quarters.

IBD's Long-Term Leaders: How They Differ From Cheap Stocks
Cheap Stocks To Buy: Canadian Silver Miner Tested
Fortuna Mining
(
FSM
) enjoyed lustrous gains in the week ended Oct. 18. Shares gained 8.4% to 5.15. It retook the 10-week moving average, a bullish move, after bouncing nicely off a test of the longer-term 40-week line the prior week. However, amid the new pullback, Fortuna is trying to hold above its 40-week line again.
Heavy volume was absent. Nonetheless, the stock crossed an early trendline entry near 5. One could draw the trendline starting with the late-May high of 6.36. However, the stock is now below this aggressive buy point.
On Nov. 7, Fortuna closed at 4.79, below the trendline buy point near 5. The stock tested buying support at the 40-week moving average.
At this point, failure to rebound off the 40-week line, or the 200-day moving average on a daily chart, would result in Fortuna exiting this column.
Fortuna posted a healthy 60% jump in earnings to 16 cents a share in the third quarter as sales rose 13% to $275 million. It had faced tough year-over-year comps. In Q3 of 2023, sales expanded 46%.
On an annual basis, the Vancouver-based miner and processor of silver has been highly profitable every year since at least 2017. After earnings grew 44% last year to 23 cents a share, Fortuna is now expected to post a 120% gain in the bottom line this year to 51 cents a share and 64 cents in 2025, up 27%.
Fortuna has a market cap of $1.47 billion and 306 million shares outstanding.

Crexendo Leads After It Returns To The Screen
Crexendo
(
CXDO
) has acted well since returning to the IBD Screener. But the stock slid 7% last week after reporting earnings. On Thursday, Crexendo fell another 1.5% and tested its 50-day moving average for the second time in as many weeks.
Earnings dropped 50% to 6 cents a share despite a 13% pick-up in sales to $15.6 million.
At this point, watch to see if the stock can find buyers around its rising 10-week moving average, currently at 5.01.
Looking at a daily chart, one could draw a trendline from the August peak of 5.45. The
trendline offers an entry point
near 4.65.
The stock had been building a base the past seven weeks and recently cleared the 5.45 buy point as well, as noted by this story earlier in the month. But CXDO has now fallen below this entry, an expectation breaker.
Crexendo has relatively low liquidity. It trades 124,000 shares on average and has a micro-cap stock market value of $144 million. The member of IBD's internet-network solutions industry group has staged a virtuoso-like gain since bottoming at 1.24 in May 2023, more than quintupling in price.
The provider of ecommerce-related technology and services to small companies has shown excellent earnings growth in five of the past seven quarters.

Logistics Play
Reitar Logtech
(
RITR
) debuted on the Nasdaq on Aug. 23 at $4 per share. It closed the first day at 4.15, then rushed 23% higher the next session. Reitar also made a new high of 6.87.
In recent weeks, Reitar triggered a new entry among cheap stocks to buy. Why? First, it cleared a trendline near 6.10. Second, the stock established a trading range between 4 and 6. So an early buy point at 6.20, based on the intraday peak of 6.20 on Oct. 1, was logical. And third, shares cleared the 6.87 high marked on the second day of trading after Reitar's IPO.
As seen on a MarketSurge daily chart, Reitar has also reclaimed the
21-day exponential moving average
, a key gauge of short-term technical strength. Yet trading have been hyper-volatile in some sessions, and the stock has made limited price progress.
The Hong Kong, China-based company belongs to IBD's Commercial Services-Consulting industry group. It recently ranked 87th, in the upper half among 197 industries for six-month price-weighted performance.
In general, favor companies that are part of a top 40 industry group. See

.
The Hong Kong-based firm provides asset management and consulting services to investors in logistic properties.Â
Based on MarketSurge data
, the company posts semiannual results. In the six months through March, Reitar reported 4 cents a share, up 63%, on a 361% leap in sales to $22.8 million. Reitar has 62 million shares outstanding and a current market value of $338 million.
Despite the low share price, Reitar has posted numerous sessions in which at least 200,000 shares exchanged hands on a daily basis.

Top Growth Stocks: What's Hot In The IBD 50 Now?
Cheap Stocks To Buy: How To Spot The Buy Point
IBD's buy rules traditionally used to add a dime above, say, the handle in a
cup with handle
, or the left-side peak of a
flat base
. Now, IBD has reduced it to simply a move past the pivotal price points in these historically proven chart patterns.
Decades ago, William O'Neil,
founder and longtime chairman of IBD
, preferred to add 1/8th of a point, equivalent to 12.5 cents, to the key resistance level within a base to determine if a stock is in fact breaking out. Before the stock exchanges moved to decimalization of price quotes, stock prices traded in fractions of 1/2, 1/4, 1/8, 1/16, even 1/32nds of a dollar.
A special IBD buy rule,
the 5% buy zone
covers the ideal price range in which to
buy a breakout
. Therefore, watch for a potential pullback near the ideal entry. This strategy applies to all cheap stocks to buy and watch.
Another potential entry point, but still a long ways away? A test of support at the stock's rising
10-week moving average
.
Also, keep an eye on
IBD's current outlook for stocks
. The best time to buy growth companies: only when the outlook shows a confirmed uptrend.

The Golden Rule
Finally, even among cheap stocks to buy, never forget the No. 1 maxim of investing. If you buy at a
proper buy point
and the stock breaks expectations,
cutting losses short
to protect your hard-earned capital allows you to invest in a more promising growth company.
No matter what price you purchased shares for, accept no larger than a loss of 7%-8% on those shares. You can quickly recover from such a deficit. But a 50% loss in a single stock requires that you make a 100% gain on the next trade to get back to break-even.
It's very hard to spot stocks that double in price —even among cheap stocks to buy.

Bull market or bear market? Regardless of [what stage of the stock market cycle we're in](https://research.investors.com/markettrend.aspx), some folks never tire of searching for cheap stocks to buy.

NOW PLAYING 450% William O'Neil Winner Profited Off Of This Significant Medical Sector Innovation
After all, who doesn't love a bargain? Surely, the lure of finding a stock that triples from \$1 to \$3 a share, or quintuples from 50 cents to \$2.50, seems irresistible. But do you know the unique problems and subtle challenges of hunting cheap stocks to buy for big gains? Let's consider a few.
## Cheap Stocks To Buy: The Challenges
They already trade at \$20, \$40 or \$80 a share before they [break out of a bullish pattern](https://www.investors.com/how-to-invest/investors-corner/netflix-stock-chart-pattern/), then go on mind-blowing rallies.
Another cold, hard truth that proponents of penny stocks don't tell you? Many low-priced shares stay low for a very long time.
So, if your hard-earned money is tied up in a penny stock that fails to generate meaningful capital appreciation, you're not just nursing a dud stock. You face the lost opportunity of getting a [true market leader such as names that enter IBD Leaderboard](https://leaderboard.investors.com/#/ibd50/full) as well as the [IBD 50](https://leaderboard.investors.com/#/ibd50/full), [IBD Sector Leaders](https://research.investors.com/stock-lists/sector-leaders), [Long-Term Leaders](https://www.investors.com/research/best-stocks-to-buy-now-long-term-stocks-ibd-long-term-leaders-list/), and [IBD Big Cap 20](https://research.investors.com/stock-lists/big-cap-20/). These stocks often enjoy solid institutional buying, even if their share prices trade in the triple or quadruple digits. Institutional accumulation undeniably plays a huge role in successful investing.

## How To Screen For Great Cheap Stocks To Buy
[IBD Stock Screener](https://ibdstockscreener.investors.com/) filters cheap stocks that trade at \$10 or less per share and carry the key fundamental, technical and fund ownership quality traits routinely seen among the greatest stock market winners.
1 rule of investing: [keep losses under control](https://www.investors.com/how-to-invest/investors-corner/still-the-no-1-rule-for-stock-investors-always-cut-your-losses-short/).

## Silvercorp Delivers New Entry Point
**Silvercorp Metals** ([SVM](https://research.investors.com/quote.aspx?symbol=SVM)), which trades on the American Stock Exchange, had been leading the stock market.
On Thursday, amid a small gain in silver futures to \$30.71 an ounce, Silvercorp rebounded 2.3% and challenged the 4 price level.
Silvercorp's latest base showed [elements of a double bottom](https://www.investors.com/how-to-invest/investors-corner/when-buy-growth-stocks-why-double-bottom-base-fuels-strong-breakouts/) with a middle peak of 3.91. See it between the early July low of 3.27 and a lower low of 2.96. SVM had been sharply extended from the [5% buy zone](https://www.investors.com/how-to-invest/investors-corner/buy-zone-nvidia-stock/) from 3.91 up to 4.11, but that's no longer the case.
The gain from this 3.91 buy point briefly exceeded [the 20%-25% profit zone](https://www.investors.com/how-to-invest/investors-corner/how-to-build-long-term-profits-in-stocks-take-many-gains-at-20-25/). Taking gains often at 20% to 25%, or perhaps a bit more, helps reduce painful drawdowns in the portfolio.
This column had suggested watching for a potential new entry, such as a base-on-base pattern or a [normal pullback to the 10-week moving average](https://www.investors.com/how-to-invest/investors-corner/how-to-buy-stocks-why-the-10-week-moving-average-offers-new-entry-points/).
So, at this point, SVM has triggered a pair of key sell rules — a [big break of the 10-week moving average](https://www.investors.com/how-to-invest/investors-corner/when-to-sell-growth-stocks-number-1-rule/) and a round trip of strong short-term gains — to defend against any remaining profits and to keep losses small.
On Nov. 7, shares rose 1.3% after hours after Silvercorp posted adjusted EPS of 9 cents and revenue of \$68 million, up 26% vs.
This action was bearish and triggered the most important rule: [cut losses short](https://www.investors.com/how-to-invest/investors-corner/sell-a-stock-cutting-losses-short-is-first-rule/).
Earnings soared 140% to 12 cents a share on a 20% jump in sales to \$72.2 million. [According to MarketSurge](https://marketsurge.investors.com/), analysts see earnings rising 30% and 35% vs. year-ago levels to 8 cents each in the next two quarters. Revenue is seen up 32% in Q3 to \$71.3 million and up 32% again in Q4 to \$77.1 million. Sales over the past four quarters topped \$226 million. Silvercorp also earned 27 cents a share over that four-quarter span.
Here are the key IBD ratings for SVM:

## Cheap Stocks To Buy And Watch: New Entry In Aerospace Firm
**CPI Aerostructures** ([CVU](https://research.investors.com/quote.aspx?symbol=CVU)), which trades on the Amex and makes structural parts for fixed-wing aircraft and helicopters, bolted out of an early-stage cup pattern with a 2.94 buy point on Aug.
But sales edged 5% lower to \$19.4 million. CPI's sales have increased just once in the past three quarters.
This column had noted that investors could wait until the stock clears the newly formed handle atop the cup. In mid-September CVU cleared this handle with a 3.11 entry and has gotten [well extended past the 5% buy zone](https://www.investors.com/how-to-invest/investors-corner/how-to-buy-stocks-why-the-buy-zone-is-the-sweet-spot/).
Yet CPI Aero has been showing relative strength vs. the S\&P 500 in recent weeks. Also, the [relative strength line](https://www.investors.com/how-to-invest/investors-corner/relative-strength-line-is-a-simple-yet-effective-stock-indicator/) breached its April peak; that signals unusual strength.
One could have drawn a trendline from the cup's left-side peak and determined a lower, more aggressive buy point near 2.70.
The Edgewood, N.Y., firm began trading on the American Stock Exchange in late September 2022. The company recently reported a 22% rise in second-quarter earnings to 11 cents a share on a 1% increase in sales to \$20.8 million. MarketSurge showed no full-year earnings estimates. The firm's president and CEO, Dorith Hakim, had previously served as group VP at **Parker Hannifin** ([PH](https://research.investors.com/quote.aspx?symbol=PH)), where she directed the global supply chain for 11 divisions.
[According to MarketSurge](https://marketsurge.investors.com/?src=A012BF), there are no published earnings or sales estimates for the company. In the year-ago quarter, CPI Aerostructures posted earnings of 2 cents a share and sales of \$20.4 million.
Please check out this [Investor's Corner for more on the up/down volume ratio](https://www.investors.com/how-to-invest/investors-corner/top-stocks-under-accumulation-use-the-up-down-volume-ratio-to-find-the-best-prospects/).
Here are the key IBD ratings for CVU:
[Composite Rating](https://www.investors.com/how-to-invest/investors-corner/how-to-research-growth-stocks/): 90 on a scale of 1 to 99, up from 87
[Earnings Per Share Rating](https://www.investors.com/how-to-invest/investors-corner/eps-rating-is-key-to-picking-great-stocks/): 85 on a scale of 1 to 99
[Relative Strength Rating](https://www.investors.com/how-to-invest/investors-corner/what-is-relative-strength/): 81 on a scale of 1 to 99, down from 85.

## Cheap Stocks Under \$10: Finnish Giant
**Nokia** ([NOK](https://research.investors.com/quote.aspx?symbol=NOK)), the Finish telecom giant, was a superstar during the late 1990s tech rally. Today, with a nearly \$27 billion market value, it is not a small cap.
This column noted the [5% buy zone](https://www.investors.com/how-to-invest/investors-corner/how-to-buy-stocks-why-the-buy-zone-is-the-sweet-spot/) from 4.52 goes up to 4.75.
In many cases, the stock drops right to the [proper buy point](https://www.investors.com/how-to-invest/investors-corner/apple-stock-set-up-proper-buy-point-before-big-rally/) or even a few points below it.
[According to MarketSurge](https://marketsurge.investors.com/?src=A012BF), Nokia is expected to grow earnings 8% this year to 35 cents a share, revised lower from 36 cents.
Trailing four-quarter sales totaled \$20.7 billion. But in each of the past four quarters, sales fell 21%, 21%, 19% and 3% vs. year-ago levels. According to MarketSurge, the top line is expected to grow mildly in three of the next four quarters.
Here are the key proprietary IBD ratings for NOK:
[Composite Rating](https://www.investors.com/how-to-invest/investors-corner/how-to-research-growth-stocks/): 76 on a scale of 1 to 99
[Earnings Per Share Rating](https://www.investors.com/how-to-invest/investors-corner/eps-rating-is-key-to-picking-great-stocks/): 73 on a scale of 1 to 99

## Cheap Stocks To Buy: Canadian Silver Miner Tested
**Fortuna Mining** ([FSM](https://research.investors.com/quote.aspx?symbol=FSM)) enjoyed lustrous gains in the week ended Oct.
Fortuna posted a healthy 60% jump in earnings to 16 cents a share in the third quarter as sales rose 13% to \$275 million.
Fortuna has a market cap of \$1.47 billion and 306 million shares outstanding.
Here are the key IBD ratings for Fortuna Mining:
[Composite Rating](https://www.investors.com/how-to-invest/investors-corner/how-to-research-growth-stocks/): 78 on a scale of 1 to 99
[Earnings Per Share Rating](https://www.investors.com/how-to-invest/investors-corner/eps-rating-is-key-to-picking-great-stocks/): 95 on a scale of 1 to 99

## Crexendo Leads After It Returns To The Screen
**Crexendo** ([CXDO](https://research.investors.com/quote.aspx?symbol=CXDO)) has acted well since returning to the IBD Screener. But the stock slid 7% last week after reporting earnings. On Thursday, Crexendo fell another 1.5% and tested its 50-day moving average for the second time in as many weeks.
Earnings dropped 50% to 6 cents a share despite a 13% pick-up in sales to \$15.6 million.
At this point, watch to see if the stock can find buyers around its rising 10-week moving average, currently at 5.01.
Looking at a daily chart, one could draw a trendline from the August peak of 5.45. The [trendline offers an entry point](https://www.investors.com/how-to-invest/investors-corner/how-to-draw-trendlines-and-find-lower-buy-points-in-stock-charts/) near 4.65.
The stock had been building a base the past seven weeks and recently cleared the 5.45 buy point as well, as noted by this story earlier in the month. But CXDO has now fallen below this entry, an expectation breaker.
Crexendo has relatively low liquidity. It trades 124,000 shares on average and has a micro-cap stock market value of \$144 million. The member of IBD's internet-network solutions industry group has staged a virtuoso-like gain since bottoming at 1.24 in May 2023, more than quintupling in price.
The provider of ecommerce-related technology and services to small companies has shown excellent earnings growth in five of the past seven quarters.
Here are the key IBD ratings for CXDO:
[Composite Rating](https://www.investors.com/how-to-invest/investors-corner/how-to-research-growth-stocks/): 81 on a scale of 1 to 99, down from 97
[Earnings Per Share Rating](https://www.investors.com/how-to-invest/investors-corner/eps-rating-is-key-to-picking-great-stocks/): 66 on a scale of 1 to 99, plunging from 95 after Q3 results

## Logistics Play
**Reitar Logtech** ([RITR](https://research.investors.com/quote.aspx?symbol=RITR)) debuted on the Nasdaq on Aug. 23 at \$4 per share.
As seen on a MarketSurge daily chart, Reitar has also reclaimed the [21-day exponential moving average](https://www.investors.com/how-to-invest/investors-corner/what-is-the-21-day-exponential-moving-average/), a key gauge of short-term technical strength.
See [Data Tables for the latest 197 industry group rankings](https://www.investors.com/ibd-data-tables/).
The Hong Kong-based firm provides asset management and consulting services to investors in logistic properties. [Based on MarketSurge data](https://marketsurge.investors.com/?src=A012BF), the company posts semiannual results. In the six months through March, Reitar reported 4 cents a share, up 63%, on a 361% leap in sales to \$22.8 million. Reitar has 62 million shares outstanding and a current market value of \$338 million.
Despite the low share price, Reitar has posted numerous sessions in which at least 200,000 shares exchanged hands on a daily basis.
Here are the key IBD ratings for RITR:

## Cheap Stocks To Buy: How To Spot The Buy Point
IBD's buy rules traditionally used to add a dime above, say, the handle in a [cup with handle](https://www.investors.com/how-to-invest/investors-corner/the-basics-how-to-analyze-a-stocks-cup-with-handle/), or the left-side peak of a [flat base](https://www.investors.com/how-to-invest/investors-corner/what-is-a-flat-base-skechers-stock-skx/). Now, IBD has reduced it to simply a move past the pivotal price points in these historically proven chart patterns.
Decades ago, William O'Neil, [founder and longtime chairman of IBD](https://www.investors.com/news/management/leaders-and-success/bill-oneil-ibd-founder-and-stock-investor-success-tips/), preferred to add 1/8th of a point, equivalent to 12.5 cents, to the key resistance level within a base to determine if a stock is in fact breaking out. Before the stock exchanges moved to decimalization of price quotes, stock prices traded in fractions of 1/2, 1/4, 1/8, 1/16, even 1/32nds of a dollar.
A special IBD buy rule, [the 5% buy zone](https://www.investors.com/how-to-invest/investors-corner/buy-zone-nvidia-stock/) covers the ideal price range in which to [buy a breakout](https://www.investors.com/how-to-invest/investors-corner/what-is-stock-breakout/). Therefore, watch for a potential pullback near the ideal entry. This strategy applies to all cheap stocks to buy and watch.
Another potential entry point, but still a long ways away? A test of support at the stock's rising [10-week moving average](https://www.investors.com/how-to-invest/investors-corner/how-to-buy-stocks-why-the-10-week-moving-average-offers-new-entry-points/).
Also, keep an eye on [IBD's current outlook for stocks](https://research.investors.com/markettrend.aspx). The best time to buy growth companies: only when the outlook shows a confirmed uptrend.

## The Golden Rule
Finally, even among cheap stocks to buy, never forget the No. 1 maxim of investing. If you buy at a [proper buy point](http://www.investors.com/how-to-invest/investors-corner/chart-reading-basics-how-a-buy-point-marks-a-time-of-opportunity/) and the stock breaks expectations, [cutting losses short](https://www.investors.com/how-to-invest/investors-corner/still-the-no-1-rule-for-stock-investors-always-cut-your-losses-short/) to protect your hard-earned capital allows you to invest in a more promising growth company.

↑ X NOW PLAYING 450% William O'Neil Winner Profited Off Of This Significant Medical Sector Innovation

On Nov. 7, shares rose 1.3% after hours after Silvercorp posted adjusted EPS of 9 cents and revenue of \$68 million, up 26% vs.
This action was bearish and triggered the most important rule: [cut losses short](https://www.investors.com/how-to-invest/investors-corner/sell-a-stock-cutting-losses-short-is-first-rule/).
[Composite Rating](https://www.investors.com/how-to-invest/investors-corner/how-to-research-growth-stocks/): 81 on a scale of 1 to 99, down from 97
[Earnings Per Share Rating](https://www.investors.com/how-to-invest/investors-corner/eps-rating-is-key-to-picking-great-stocks/): 84 on a scale of 1 to 99

Yet CPI Aero has been showing relative strength vs. the S\&P 500 in recent weeks.

This column noted the [5% buy zone](https://www.investors.com/how-to-invest/investors-corner/how-to-buy-stocks-why-the-buy-zone-is-the-sweet-spot/) from 4.52 goes up to 4.75.
In many cases, the stock drops right to the [proper buy point](https://www.investors.com/how-to-invest/investors-corner/apple-stock-set-up-proper-buy-point-before-big-rally/) or even a few points below it.

Fortuna posted a healthy 60% jump in earnings to 16 cents a share in the third quarter as sales rose 13% to \$275 million.
Fortuna has a market cap of \$1.47 billion and 306 million shares outstanding.

[Relative Strength Rating](https://www.investors.com/how-to-invest/investors-corner/what-is-relative-strength/): 88 on a scale of 1 to 99

## Logistics Play
**Reitar Logtech** ([RITR](https://research.investors.com/quote.aspx?symbol=RITR)) debuted on the Nasdaq on Aug. 23 at \$4 per share.
As seen on a MarketSurge daily chart, Reitar has also reclaimed the [21-day exponential moving average](https://www.investors.com/how-to-invest/investors-corner/what-is-the-21-day-exponential-moving-average/), a key gauge of short-term technical strength.
