I put it in the rice maybe a half an hour later and it has been in it mostly since it got wet 2 days ago. I didn’t know to clean it or not try to charge or turn it on. So needless to say I did both of these things, however the phone will still work but the screen is black. Can it be repaired? The issue with water damage is that it happens pretty much the moment you drop the electrically-active phone in the water; also, the water inside the phone may get stuck under shields and other nooks and crannies that wouldn't be accessible to the rice. That said, the phone coming on might be a good sign; you may need to only replace the display. The problem here is that you won't really know if the issue is the display or the damage to the board itself without replacing the display anyway; you might get a new screen on and find out that it's still showing up black. That said, you might be in luck. As an aside, do keep it powered off until you can get it open and properly dried out just in case there is some water remaining inside the device. You don't want to cause more damage than has already been done. Was this answer helpful? Skip the rice. It is absolutely useless.''' It will not help you fix your phone. All it does is that it provides a false sense of security. It will not clean your phone, it will not prevent corrosion. Second, **stop** continuing to try to charge, sync or otherwise use your phone. This potentially can make a bad situation worse.This may further damage your phone. The next thing to do is to clean it. Disassemble your phone using guides for whatever model LG this is. If you can give us the model we may have the information for that . You must remove all EMI shields from your boards. If you do not remove those, you might as well not do anything. After you removed those, clean the whole board, connectors and all with +90% isopropyl alcohol. Follow [this guide](https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Repairing+iPhone+Liquid+Damage/5825) , and even so it was written for an Apple iPhone 3G all the points are still pertinent to your phone. While you clean your board, check for any obvious damage, like burned or missing components etc. When it is properly cleaned, **replace the battery**. All these steps are to avoid delayed failure caused by corrosion. Best thing to do would be to clean it with an ultrasonic cleaner, but if you do not have access to one, this will at least help. Once all this is done, reassemble your phone and reevaluate. Until it is cleaned, everything will only be a guess. It is possible that you have a bad LCD and replacing the display assembly may fix it. Even with all this, water damage has only a small chance to be fully repaired, but at least you can give it a try. Was this answer helpful?
