One thing I love about Paris is that the city center is so walkable. It is so easy to walk to many of the major attractions as well as some of the
hidden gems of Paris
.
However, where you stay can make a huge difference in how much time and money you spend using public transportation, taxis, or
Uber
in Paris
. This is why I highly recommend looking for walkable areas of Paris, so that you can simply wander around enjoying the beauty of Paris without having to figure out transportation logistics.

### 1st Arrondissement
The 1st arrondissement is in the center of Paris, which makes most of the major attractions walkable from this area. The biggest highlights of the 1st arrondissement includes the Louvre Museum & Tuileries Garden.

This part of Paris is also known for its shopping, especially the luxury boutique stores along Rue Saint Honoré.
In my opinion, this area is less charming compared to other Parisian neighborhoods, but it can be a good choice if you want to be right in the center of Paris. It is also a good area to use the metro as it is close to the largest metro station in Paris, Châtelet-les Halles.

✔️ Seine River: 5 minute walk
✔️ Palais Garnier: 10-15 minute walk
✔️ The Notre Dame Cathedral: 30 minute walk
