Well, this depends on how are you using the Bollinger Bands. The fancy about the Bollinger Bands, and that's why I love them so much, is that you can trade trending strategies or swing strategies with them. You can even trade volatile markets using Bollinger Bands.
So if you are using them to trade trending periods, you should look for a moving average confirmation, an ADX or any other trend based indicator.
If you are them to trade swing periods, you should look for an RSI, Stochastics, %R, or whatever momentum indicator.
It's all based on your strategy and which indicators you like and understand more.
Thanks,
Nader
The Gimme is a great set up. You could also use divergence to confirm.

You can trade it off any time frame. I have traded them of 1 5 and 30 min.

You can just trade any pair with the appropriate setup of the BB parameters. Some pairs will perform very poorly with 20,2 (The default setup), some pairs will do good. You will have to play around with the parameters to find the best for the pair without over-optimization.
Thanks,

Try using the BB squeeze system. There should be a thread floating around here somewhere.
I have had some success using BB's set to 1 std dev. and playing the break outside of the band. That setup seems to work well with trending pairs such as USD/JPY.
I think what the quality indicator it should be 10 pips target will make it the worst indicator

Hello Mr Whipple,
As one of the couple I would like to thank you for the VT indicator links, very useful. Do you have any preferred time-frame/settings for the Squeezeometer? I'm experimenting with Akuma's settings of 12/6 on 1H charts at the moment, any advice gratefully accepted.

I have a journal using the squeeze and CCI with BB ([http://www.forexfactory.com/forexfor...ad.php?p=56627](http://www.forexfactory.com/forexforum/showthread.php?p=56627)) ... it is not the holy grail, but with some practice, BB can be very helpful.
You can quit and they won't care, but you will always know.

Does anyone know of a good confirming indicator to use with bollinger bands if goal is to make 10 pips per trade?

What time frame are those charts. 1 hour, 4 hour etc?
Thanks
Fdisk
Fdisk Please I just want a few pips. Is that too much to ask?
You can trade it off any time frame. I have traded them of 1 5 and 30 min.
For anyone trading bollinger bands, what are usually the best pairs to trade
where the price frequently bounces off support and resistance?

You can just trade any pair with the appropriate setup of the BB parameters. Some pairs will perform very poorly with 20,2 (The default setup), some pairs will do good. You will have to play around with the parameters to find the best for the pair without over-optimization.
Thanks,
Nader
Try using the BB squeeze system. There should be a thread floating around here somewhere.
I have had some success using BB's set to 1 std dev. and playing the break outside of the band. That setup seems to work well with trending pairs such as USD/JPY.
I think what the quality indicator it should be 10 pips target will make it the worst indicator

I like the squeeze too! It is set up with the BBands and the Keltner channels on the chart. Next put up a momentum indicator. Your now set to catch a Squeeze. I especally like the Squeeze play because, after all I ***am*** MrWhipple.
Watch for when the KChannels go *inside* the BBands. When they come *out* again, make your play. Watch which way the momentum is going to decide to go long or short. But watch out for the dreded head fake! Price will often move in one direction and then quickly reverse and rocket in the other direction.
There are some great indicators out there already written for Trade Station, VT Trader, MT4, and a lot of others. I use Squeezometer for VT.
Good Luck this is a grovy play that can make you a lot of dough, but it can turn on you too. Squeeze moves can be BIG moves.

Yes,
take care
kiss the trend
Hello Mr Whipple,
As one of the couple I would like to thank you for the VT indicator links, very useful. Do you have any preferred time-frame/settings for the Squeezeometer? I'm experimenting with Akuma's settings of 12/6 on 1H charts at the moment, any advice gratefully accepted.
Thank's again.

1hr or 2hr work good. I like to keep an eye on lower timeframes too (on the other monitor) like 15 or 5min. to look for headfakes and whipswas.
