Are you planning a city break in Paris and looking for where to stay? Here is a complete guide to the  8 best neighbourhoods  in the French capital, with the  top sustainable hotels  in each area. From the iconic  Eiffel Tower  to the stunning  Louvre Museum  and the historic  Notre Dame Cathedral,  the fascinating capital of France is full of  things to do and see  – with many hidden gems! Paris is where I come from and is still today one of my favourite cities in Europe for its  unique culture, atmosphere and architecture . I always love wandering its picturesque streets, and whatever the season, there is always  so much to discover  – for all ages.  However, I would note that the capital is vast and  challenging to explore on foot . Therefore, do not worry too much about where you stay and if it is not in the centre. The  metro system is super efficient, fast and affordable , so take advantage of it. I would also recommend  focusing on one area daily  to get the most out of your city break . So are you ready? Let’s dive into the  8 best areas  and  eco-friendly hotels  to stay in Paris, whether you are staying for one night, a weekend or a week. Enjoy! Where to stay in Paris: 8 best areas In this article, you will also find the  best things to do, what to see  and the  top green hotels  in each neighbourhood. I selected each accommodation by researching on  ETIC Hotels ,  Ecobnb  and  bookdifferent , and by carefully reading their website and looking for green certification . However, I understand these hotels are not the cheapest and the most budget-friendly places to stay in Paris, but  they are the most eco-friendly . Unfortunately, mixing the two is not always easy, and I have tried to select accommodations that  focus on making a difference whilst being affordable . If you have any other suggestions, please let me know in the comments below Planning an epic Parisian city break? Plus, its convenient location makes it an ideal base for accessing the main attractions on foot or by metro. **How many days in Paris is ideal?** I suggest spending a minimum of 3 days in Paris to fully appreciate its must-see highlights without rushing. It is the perfect timeframe to immerse yourself in the unique atmosphere of the French capital and explore its main attractions, including the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre Museum, Montmartre and various parks. **Is Paris a walkable city?** Yes, Paris is a walkable city as many of its most famous attractions and landmarks are close to each other, making it convenient for exploring on foot. However, Paris is also a large city, so you may want to use the efficient public transportation system, including buses and the metro. **Where to avoid staying in Paris?** Whilst Paris is a safe city for tourists, there are neighbourhoods you may prefer to avoid for various reasons, such as BarbĂšs-Rochechouart (around the Gare du Nord train station), Stalingrad, Goutte d’Or and Porte de la Chapelle. ![where to stay paris](data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7) ![where to stay paris](https://www.exploremindfully.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/stay-paris-3-683x1024.jpg) ![france](data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7) ![france](https://www.exploremindfully.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/stay-paris-8-683x1024.jpg) ![where to stay paris](data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7) ![where to stay paris](https://www.exploremindfully.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/stay-paris-4-683x1024.jpg) *** ****And you, **where is your favourite place to stay in Paris?****** **Let me know in the comments below\!** With love ♡ Lucie - [Share on Twitter]("Share on Twitter") - [Share on Facebook]("Share on Facebook") - [Share on Pinterest]("Share on Pinterest") By: [Lucie](https://www.exploremindfully.com/author/luciechptr/) · In: [France](https://www.exploremindfully.com/category/france/), [Paris](https://www.exploremindfully.com/category/paris/), [Where to Stay](https://www.exploremindfully.com/category/where-to-stay/) ### You will also love [![paris](https://www.exploremindfully.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/paris-3-day-5-750x1030.jpg)](https://www.exploremindfully.com/paris-3-day-itinerary/ "Permanent Link to 3 Magical Days in Paris: Complete Itinerary + Map")[3 Magical Days in Paris: Complete Itinerary + Map](https://www.exploremindfully.com/paris-3-day-itinerary/ "Permanent Link to 3 Magical Days in Paris: Complete Itinerary + Map") [![france](https://www.exploremindfully.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/south-france-road-trip-7-1-750x1030.jpg)](https://www.exploremindfully.com/south-of-france-road-trip-1-week-itinerary/ "Permanent Link to South of France Road Trip: 1-Week Itinerary")[South of France Road Trip: 1-Week Itinerary](https://www.exploremindfully.com/south-of-france-road-trip-1-week-itinerary/ "Permanent Link to South of France Road Trip: 1-Week Itinerary") [![italy](https://www.exploremindfully.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/stay-rome-4-750x1030.jpg)](https://www.exploremindfully.com/where-to-stay-rome/ "Permanent Link to Where to Stay in Rome: 8 Best Areas (& Hotels)")[Where to Stay in Rome: 8 Best Areas (& Hotels)](https://www.exploremindfully.com/where-to-stay-rome/ "Permanent Link to Where to Stay in Rome: 8 Best Areas (& Hotels)") ### STAY INSPIRED Join our community today to receive exclusive travel tips & behind-the-scene stories that will inspire your next adventures, directly to your inbox.
