Journeys for All: An Expedia Group Study on Inclusion in Travel
Not all people have equal access to the benefits of travel, due to a variety of factors including race, ethnicity, gender and sexual identity, disability, economic status and geographic location. Approx. 42% of underserved travelers feel limited by their identities when planning travel. The travel industry has an opportunity and an imperative to change this by making travel more inclusive, all the while building a stronger, more diverse traveler base.
Data on the type of barriers people face when planning travel is limited, siloed and doesn’t paint a clear picture of what needs to be done to solve the problems. This research is a first-of-its-kind effort to illuminate the barriers across identities so the industry can take action to remove these obstacles.
