This allows us to help reduce environmental impact and strengthen the local economy.\n\nFresh, locally sourced food reaches homes in better condition and supports local farmers and ranchers, creating a more equitable and resilient economic cycle.\n\n### Sustainable fishing\nEl Corte Inglés has long been bringing sustainable fishing closer to the end consumer. We hold MSC (*Marine Stewardship Council*) and ASC (*Aquaculture Stewardship Council*) certifications at the fresh food counters in El Corte Inglés Supermarkets, Hipercor, Supercor, and Sánchez Romero.\n\nThe MSC certification sets standards for sustainable fishing and enables traceability of fish products, while ASC certifies responsible practices in aquaculture farms. We also offer certified products in canned and frozen formats.\n\n### Animal welfare\nWe are signatories of the **European Chicken Commitment**, through which we pledge that 100% of the fresh chicken we sell under our own El Corte Inglés brand will come from slow-growing breeds and be certified for animal welfare.\n\nWe also already fulfill our commitment to ensuring that 100% of the eggs under our own brand come from cage-free hens raised in barn, free-range or organic systems, three years ahead of the original 2025 target. This sustainable product selection includes both own and external brands, with the focus on having a product range with sustainability attributes. New sustainability certificates have been added to the El Corte Inglés product portfolio in order to advance in our commitment; that means our product range now boasts around 90 sustainable attributes. ## Sustainability Iniciatives We develop a range of initiatives that promote responsible consumption and a sustainable offering, among which the following stand out: ### Local production One of our main approaches to ensuring the origin of raw materials is our commitment to local production*. This allows us to help reduce environmental impact and strengthen the local economy. Fresh, locally sourced food reaches homes in better condition and supports local farmers and ranchers, creating a more equitable and resilient economic cycle. ### Sustainable fishing El Corte Inglés has long been bringing sustainable fishing closer to the end consumer. We hold MSC (Marine Stewardship Council) and ASC (Aquaculture Stewardship Council) certifications at the fresh food counters in El Corte Inglés Supermarkets, Hipercor, Supercor, and Sánchez Romero. The MSC certification sets standards for sustainable fishing and enables traceability of fish products, while ASC certifies responsible practices in aquaculture farms. We also offer certified products in canned and frozen formats. ### Animal welfare We are signatories of the European Chicken Commitment, through which we pledge that 100% of the fresh chicken we sell under our own El Corte Inglés brand will come from slow-growing breeds and be certified for animal welfare. We also already fulfill our commitment to ensuring that 100% of the eggs under our own brand come from cage-free hens raised in barn, free-range or organic systems, three years ahead of the original 2025 target. Currently, all eggs we sell under our own brand and serve in our cafés and restaurants carry animal welfare certifications. ### Raw materials We maintain our commitment to the Better Cotton Initiative* (BCI) for textile articles, which ensures a responsible cotton supply and contributes to reducing the environmental impact of cotton production. ### Responsible tourism Viajes El Corte Inglés has launched the first commercial campaign for accessible travel, with programs designed to adapt to each client’s needs. In this context, an agreement has been signed with TUR4all Travel, a tour operator of the IMPULSA IGUALDAD group, to reinforce our commitment to reducing barriers in tourism and ensure that all customers—especially those with accessibility needs—can travel under equal conditions. Furthermore, Viajes El Corte Inglés has contributed to the sustainability roadmap for the tourism sector developed by the United Nations Global Compact and is part of the Tourism Sector Group, with the goal of identifying initiatives to raise awareness about the importance of adopting more responsible practices in the tourism industry. ## Related Links: -
