New Products | February 24, 2026 By Alina Neacsu Toshiba has expanded its protection portfolio with a series of 40V devices aimed at safeguarding power lines in industrial and consumer systems. The additions target applications ranging from factory automation equipment to household robots, where board space and reliability remain key design constraints. For eeNews Europe readers working on compact power architectures, the move reflects the ongoing shift from discrete fuses and protection circuits towards integrated solutions that could simplify layouts and potentially reduce component count. Integrated 40V eFuse ICs for industrial and consumer systems The 40V eFuse ICs, branded as the TCKE6 series , are designed to combine multiple protection functions within a single device. According to Toshiba , the devices provide short-circuit protection similar to traditional glass tube or chip fuses, while also integrating current limiting and overvoltage protection. This integration is intended to help protect downstream ICs from excessive current or voltage during fault conditions. The devices also incorporate thermal shutdown, which switches off the eFuse if abnormal heat or an unexpected short circuit is detected. The series is rated at 40V and supports an input voltage range from 3.3V to 30V, covering common 5V, 9V, 12V and 24V rails. Typical target applications include robots and PLCs on the industrial side, as well as consumer products such as robotic vacuum cleaners and copiers. Compact TSOP6F package and configurable protection modes All five variants in the TCKE6 family are housed in a TSOP6F package measuring approximately 2.9mm by 2.8mm, with a typical height of 0.8mm. For designers working with dense multilayer boards, this footprint could support thinner and more compact layouts. Toshiba highlights a low on-resistance to help limit power dissipation during normal operation, and a fast short-circuit response time to potentially improve system robustness. The lineup includes both auto-retry and latched recovery options. The TCKE601RA and TCKE603RA use auto-retry operation, allowing automatic recovery after a fault. The TCKE601RL and TCKE603RL are latched types that require an external signal to resume operation. A further variant, TCKE602RM, can switch between auto-retry and latched modes via an external signal, offering additional design flexibility. Some versions provide a FLAG output to report abnormal conditions, while others include an enable pin for external control. By consolidating these functions into a single 40V eFuse IC, Toshiba is positioning the series as a building block for compact, potentially more efficient power management designs. ## Integrated 40V eFuse ICs for industrial and consumer systems The 40V eFuse ICs, branded as the [TCKE6 series](https://toshiba.semicon-storage.com/info/TCKE601RA_datasheet_en_20251028.pdf?did=164150&prodName=TCKE601RA), are designed to combine multiple protection functions within a single device. [According to Toshiba](https://toshiba.semicon-storage.com/eu/company/news/2026/02/power-management-ics-20260211-1.html), the devices provide short-circuit protection similar to traditional glass tube or chip fuses, while also integrating current limiting and overvoltage protection. ## Compact TSOP6F package and configurable protection modes All five variants in the TCKE6 family are housed in a TSOP6F package measuring approximately 2.9mm by 2.8mm, with a typical height of 0.8mm. By consolidating these functions into a single 40V eFuse IC, [Toshiba](https://www.eenewseurope.com/en/toshiba-outlines-gate-driver-ic-for-bldc-motors/) is positioning the series as a building block for compact, potentially more efficient power management designs. ![](https://cdn.eenewseurope.com/wp-content/themes/eetimes/assets/images/eenews-europe.png) If you enjoyed this article, you will like the following ones: don't miss them by subscribing to : [eeNews on Google News](https://news.google.com/publications/CAAiELqOf0wqnumysqDXJNMeCHUqFAgKIhC6jn9MKp7psrKg1yTTHgh1?hl=en-US&gl=US&ceid=US:en) *** *** Linked Articles
