I have two boys, a ten-year-old and an eight-year-old. My family and I are very close, and I am the oldest of three sisters.\n\nI came to work for EDCOE after my second son was born; I realized my interests had changed and I loved the idea of being involved in early childhood development.\n\n**What is your department, title, primary work location, and how long have you worked for EDCOE?**\n\nI have been a Program Secretary for the Child Development Programs for almost eight years.\n\n**Describe how your role helps support programs\/schools\/students directly or indirectly.**\n\nI work directly with our families by guiding them in enrolling in our Head Start programs.\n\n**What do you most appreciate about your department\/team?**\n\nI really appreciate how close our team is. From 4th-grade prose to 8th-grade poetry, these students reminded us that public speaking is an art form. EDCOE sends a huge round of applause to all the participants who showcased incredible poise and skill\! A Heartfelt Thank You to Our Judges: We are so grateful to the educators, parents, and community members who joined in for the judges' luncheon and stayed for two full sessions of performances. I grew up in South Lake Tahoe and have lived here my whole life, with the exception of moving to San Diego for eight years for college. I have two boys, a ten-year-old and an eight-year-old. My family and I are very close, and I am the oldest of three sisters. I came to work for EDCOE after my second son was born; I realized my interests had changed and I loved the idea of being involved in early childhood development. What is your department, title, primary work location, and how long have you worked for EDCOE? I have been a Program Secretary for the Child Development Programs for almost eight years. Describe how your role helps support programs/schools/students directly or indirectly. I work directly with our families by guiding them in enrolling in our Head Start programs. What do you most appreciate about your department/team? I really appreciate how close our team is. We have a great support system. What is your proudest moment at EDCOE? Why? My proudest moment at EDCOE was achieving full enrollment at the beginning of the year. It's great knowing we are serving as many families as we can throughout our community. What do you like to do in your spare time? Hang out with my family and friends, spend time outdoors as much as I can, and reading. If you could meet anyone, living or deceased, who would it be and why? I wish I had met my paternal grandmother. Global School Play Day is a worldwide initiative that highlights the importance of unstructured play in supporting children’s social, emotional, and creative development. Throughout the day, students built, created, problem-solved, and connected with one another in ways that looked different from a typical school day—but reflected powerful learning, nonetheless. District Highlight: Gold Oak Union School District Students from Gold Oak Elementary celebrated Play Day on February 4, while Pleasant Valley Middle School students joined the fun on February 6. Both campuses were filled with creativity, laughter, collaboration, and plenty of imaginative play as students engaged in screen-free, student-directed activities throughout the day. From cooperative games and hands-on building to artistic expression and teamwork, Play Day provided meaningful opportunities for students to strengthen communication skills, practice resilience, and simply enjoy being kids together.
