Fathom Events is co-hosting the event, and bringing it to a long list of theater locations nationwide.\n\nRecommended Videos\n\nWidely regarded as one of the scariest films ever made, *The Shining* casts Jack Nicholson as a struggling writer who agrees to serve as the winter caretaker for the Overlook Hotel, a beautiful but isolated hotel that’s cut off from the rest of the world for several months during winter due to heavy snowfall. Shelley Duvall plays his wife and Danny Llord plays his son, who both accompany Nicholson’s character to the hotel. The broadcaster has introduced a new player tracking system that's designed to allow fans to zoom in on the action and follow their favorite athletes during live events, offering a more personalized viewing experience.\n\nAccording to Nikkei Asia (via The Verge), the system is powered by viztrick AiDi, a technology developed by Japan's Nippon Television Network that uses facial recognition to track players. While the tool has already been used in Japan, this marks the first time it will be deployed by another broadcaster. Just when you thought it was safe to book that winter getaway in a secluded old hotel, The Shining is coming back to theaters to put you off the idea for a very, very long time. As part of Turner Classic Movies’ “Big Screen Classics” series, Stanley Kubrick’s terrifying 1980 adaptation of Stephen King’s novel will return to theaters for a special two-day event during the week leading up to Halloween. Fathom Events is co-hosting the event, and bringing it to a long list of theater locations nationwide. Recommended Videos Widely regarded as one of the scariest films ever made, The Shining casts Jack Nicholson as a struggling writer who agrees to serve as the winter caretaker for the Overlook Hotel, a beautiful but isolated hotel that’s cut off from the rest of the world for several months during winter due to heavy snowfall. Shelley Duvall plays his wife and Danny Llord plays his son, who both accompany Nicholson’s character to the hotel. The trio soon find their lives touched by sinister, supernatural forces — or maybe it’s just the isolation — and their time in the Overlook Hotel gradually takes a dark, deadly turn. Kubrick co-wrote the screenplay for the adaptation with novelist Diane Johnson ( Persian Nights ), and the resulting film is considered a landmark in cinematic production, with many film critics, scholars, and creators holding it in high regard as not only one of the greatest horror movies ever made, but one of the greatest films. In 2009, Oscar-winning director Martin Scorsese ranked it among the 11 scariest movies ever made. The two-day event featuring the return of The Shining to theaters will be held Sunday, October 23, and Wednesday, October 26. Screenings will be held at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. local time on both days. As part of Turner Classic Movies’ “Big Screen Classics” series, Stanley Kubrick’s terrifying 1980 adaptation of Stephen King’s novel will return to theaters for a special two-day event during the week leading up to Halloween. Fathom Events is co-hosting the event, and bringing it to a long list of theater locations nationwide. Recommended Videos Widely regarded as one of the scariest films ever made, *The Shining* casts Jack Nicholson as a struggling writer who agrees to serve as the winter caretaker for the Overlook Hotel, a beautiful but isolated hotel that’s cut off from the rest of the world for several months during winter due to heavy snowfall. Shelley Duvall plays his wife and Danny Llord plays his son, who both accompany Nicholson’s character to the hotel. The trio soon find their lives touched by sinister, supernatural forces — or maybe it’s just the isolation — and their time in the Overlook Hotel gradually takes a dark, deadly turn. Kubrick co-wrote the screenplay for the adaptation with novelist Diane Johnson (*[Persian Nights](https://www.amazon.com/Persian-Nights-William-Abrahams-Book/dp/0452279585/ref=as_li_ss_tl?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1475700453&sr=1-1&keywords=Persian+Nights&linkCode=sl1&tag=digitren08-in-cont-20&linkId=791edb88401aab5b83c225e05122cdcc)*), and the resulting film is considered a landmark in cinematic production, with many film critics, scholars, and creators holding it in high regard as not only one of the greatest horror movies ever made, but one of the greatest films. The broadcaster has introduced a new player tracking system that's designed to allow fans to zoom in on the action and follow their favorite athletes during live events, offering a more personalized viewing experience. According to Nikkei Asia (via The Verge), the system is powered by viztrick AiDi, a technology developed by Japan's Nippon Television Network that uses facial recognition to track players. While the tool has already been used in Japan, this marks the first time it will be deployed by another broadcaster.
