If you're just\n00:38\nlooking to go out there and have a bit of fun, frankly it doesn't matter how many shots you're\n00:44\ntaking or what score you shoot at the end of the day. It's all about being out there on the\n00:49\ngolf\n00:49\ncourse in and amongst nature, hitting some cool golf shots, spending time with your friends and\n00:55\nenjoying it. That's how you should measure your day on the golf course. How much fun have you had,\n01:00\nhow much time have you spent laughing, how many golf shots have you hit that are memorable for\n01:05\nall the right reasons. Let's be honest, whether you shoot 78, 84, 96, 172, it doesn't matter.\n01:12\nGet rid of the scorecard, forget about the numbers and have a good time.\n01:19\nNumber two is using some different scoring and competition formats. Just because you're not\n01:25\nwriting down your stroke play score doesn't mean you can't have a little bit of friendly rivalry\n01:31\nand add a bit of spice to your friendly round with your mates. Match play of course, as we know,\n01:36\nis a brilliant way of doing that. You can have a bad hole and it doesn't affect the rest of\n01:40\nyour round\n01:41\nat all. You can do it individually and in pairs. If you do try pairs, maybe a little bit of\n01:47\nfoursomes,\n01:48\nalternate shot, you'll get round a bit quicker and it just adds a different dimension to your game.\n01:53\nIn terms of the other scoring formats, there are absolutely loads out there. Skins is a classic\n01:58\nwhere you have to win the hole outright. If you don't, it all adds up through the holes\n02:03\nand then the next person to win one outright takes the money or the points depending on whether\n02:08\nyou're gambling as well. There's\n02:14\nsome great golf formats on there that should give you some ideas.\n02:21\nNumber three is finding the right playing partners. It's so hard to have fun yourself if the guys you're\n02:28\nwith are frustrated, angry or just taking it really, really seriously. If you can find someone with the\n02:35\nsame outlook as you, who you get on with off the course as well as on it, it'll be so\n02:40\nmuch easier\n02:41\nfor you to have fun on the course.\n02:48\nSomeone that sees the game like you do and wants to have fun as well is always your best playing\n02:54\npartner.\n02:57\nThat's good, yeah. That nearly hit like within an inch of the middle of the club head to be fair.\n03:02\nIt was all right. I like that. I take that. I didn't think that was even possible.\n03:06\nGoing for the firm fade into that tucked left pin.\n03:14\nNumber four on our list is playing with a junior golfer. That can bring real lightheartedness to it.\n03:21\nYou can see what it's like for them to just really love it, play with freedom. And that will probably\n03:26\nremind you what it was like when you were playing golf as a kid. Going out there for a few\n03:32\nholes of\n03:32\na summer's evening. Anything just to be out there in and amongst nature, having fun, taking shots on.\n03:38\nAnd you can really take on a bit of a mentoring role for them as well. It can add a\n03:43\ntotally different\n03:44\ndimension. So if you get the opportunity to play with any juniors at your clubs or get your children\n03:50\ninto the game, do it. And I promise you will have way more fun with them on the golf course.\n03:59\nNumber five is taking on the hero shot. I found myself in a bit of a predicament down the right\n04:06\nhand side on this par five. I'm in the trees, but I've got options. I could chip it out sideways.\n04:11\nI could try and advance it a little bit. Or, as Seve always said, I can see a window. I\n04:19\ncan either fade\n04:20\nit or draw it round that tree, but I've got to keep it low early. If it goes wrong, that\n04:24\nis a card\n04:25\nwrecker right there. But I don't have a card, so I'm going to take it on. I'm going to make\n04:29\nmyself a story\n04:30\nthat I can tell my grandkids and bore my playing partners with for years to come. Because I'm going to\n04:35\ntake on this hero shot and I'm going to nail it. So here we go. I'm taking this on and\n04:43\nI'm going to\n04:43\nmake myself a hero.\n04:55\nI need a hero.\n05:02\nNumber six is to only use a half set of clubs or even fewer. A three or a five club\n05:09\nchallenge can be\n05:10\na lot of fun. It forces you to take on some funky shots to get creative and maybe re-find\n05:16\nthat love\n05:17\nof the artistry of golf that made you first fall in love with the game. I've just come out with\n05:23\nfour\n05:23\nclubs here. I've got myself in play, but ideally I'd want a pitching wedge for this shot. I don't\n05:30\nhave one. I've only got a sand wedge. So do I crank that or reach for the trusty seven iron\n05:35\nand try and\n05:36\nhit a little bit of a knockdown. It's not a shot I'd normally take on, but it's going to be\n05:40\na lot of fun\n05:41\nto try and do it.\n05:57\nWell, I mean, I've clipped that so pure, too pure in fact. It's just through the back of the green,\n06:03\nbut I feel good about hitting it like that.\n06:09\nOur seventh and final tip for how you can enjoy your golf even more is to visit and play different\n06:16\nand new golf courses. It's so easy to get stuck into a bit of a rut if you're a member\n06:22\nor you just\n06:22\ngo to one course the whole time. Freshen things up. Try different styles of course. If you play on a\n06:29\nlinks course, go to a parkland or woodland place, vice versa as well. That's how you should measure your day on the golf course. How much fun have you had,\n\n01:00how much time have you spent laughing, how many golf shots have you hit that are memorable for\n\n01:05all the right reasons. Let's be honest, whether you shoot 78, 84, 96, 172, it doesn't matter.\n\n01:12Get rid of the scorecard, forget about the numbers and have a good time.\n\n01:19Number two is using some different scoring and competition formats. Just because you're not\n\n01:25writing down your stroke play score doesn't mean you can't have a little bit of friendly rivalry\n\n01:31and add a bit of spice to your friendly round with your mates. Match play of course, as we know,\n\n01:36is a brilliant way of doing that. You can have a bad hole and it doesn't affect the rest of\n\n01:40your round\n\n01:41at all. You can do it individually and in pairs. If you do try pairs, maybe a little bit of\n\n01:47foursomes,\n\n01:48alternate shot, you'll get round a bit quicker and it just adds a different dimension to your game.\n\n01:53In terms of the other scoring formats, there are absolutely loads out there. Skins is a classic\n\n01:58where you have to win the hole outright. If you don't, it all adds up through the holes\n\n02:03and then the next person to win one outright takes the money or the points depending on whether\n\n02:08you're gambling as well. There's\n\n02:14some great golf formats on there that should give you some ideas.\n\n02:21Number three is finding the right playing partners. It's so hard to have fun yourself if the guys you're\n\n02:28with are frustrated, angry or just taking it really, really seriously. If you can find someone with the\n\n02:35same outlook as you, who you get on with off the course as well as on it, it'll be so\n\n02:40much easier\n\n02:41for you to have fun on the course.\n\n02:48Someone that sees the game like you do and wants to have fun as well is always your best playing\n\n02:54partner.\n\n02:57That's good, yeah. That nearly hit like within an inch of the middle of the club head to be fair.\n\n03:02It was all right. I like that. I take that. I didn't think that was even possible.\n\n03:06Going for the firm fade into that tucked left pin.\n\n03:14Number four on our list is playing with a junior golfer. That can bring real lightheartedness to it.\n\n03:21You can see what it's like for them to just really love it, play with freedom. And that will probably\n\n03:26remind you what it was like when you were playing golf as a kid. Going out there for a few\n\n03:32holes of\n\n03:32a summer's evening. Anything just to be out there in and amongst nature, having fun, taking shots on.\n\n03:38And you can really take on a bit of a mentoring role for them as well. It can add a\n\n03:43totally different\n\n03:44dimension. So if you get the opportunity to play with any juniors at your clubs or get your children\n\n03:50into the game, do it. And I promise you will have way more fun with them on the golf course.\n\n03:59Number five is taking on the hero shot. I found myself in a bit of a predicament down the right\n\n04:06hand side on this par five. I'm in the trees, but I've got options. I could chip it out sideways.\n\n04:11I could try and advance it a little bit. Or, as Seve always said, I can see a window. I\n\n04:19can either fade\n\n04:20it or draw it round that tree, but I've got to keep it low early. If it goes wrong, that\n\n04:24is a card\n\n04:25wrecker right there. But I don't have a card, so I'm going to take it on. I'm going to make\n\n04:29myself a story\n\n04:30that I can tell my grandkids and bore my playing partners with for years to come. Because I'm going to\n\n04:35take on this hero shot and I'm going to nail it. So here we go. I'm taking this on and\n\n04:43I'm going to\n\n04:43make myself a hero.\n\n04:55I need a hero.\n\n05:02Number six is to only use a half set of clubs or even fewer. A three or a five club\n\n05:09challenge can be\n\n05:10a lot of fun. It forces you to take on some funky shots to get creative and maybe re-find\n\n05:16that love\n\n05:17of the artistry of golf that made you first fall in love with the game. I've just come out with\n\n05:23four\n\n05:23clubs here. I've got myself in play, but ideally I'd want a pitching wedge for this shot. I don't\n\n05:30have one. I've only got a sand wedge. So do I crank that or reach for the trusty seven iron\n\n05:35and try and\n\n05:36hit a little bit of a knockdown. It's not a shot I'd normally take on, but it's going to be\n\n05:40a lot of fun\n\n05:41to try and do it.\n\n05:57Well, I mean, I've clipped that so pure, too pure in fact. It's just through the back of the green,\n\n06:03but I feel good about hitting it like that.\n\n06:09Our seventh and final tip for how you can enjoy your golf even more is to visit and play different\n\n06:16and new golf courses. It's so easy to get stuck into a bit of a rut if you're a member\n\n06:22or you just\n\n06:22go to one course the whole time. Freshen things up. Try different styles of course. If you play on a\n\n06:29links course, go to a parkland or woodland place, vice versa as well. It's so easy to get stuck into a bit of a rut if you're a member 06:22or you just 06:22go to one course the whole time. Freshen things up. Try different styles of course. If you play on a 06:29links course, go to a parkland or woodland place, vice versa as well. Readable Markdown	00:00I'm here at Burley Park Golf Club and this video is all about having more fun on the golf course. 00:08Let's face it, we're not earning a living doing this. It doesn't matter what we shoot, 00:13this is a leisure activity. So whenever we're out here on the golf course with our friends, 00:19we should be putting a smile on our faces and enjoying it as much as we possibly can. 00:25These are the seven ways you can add more fun to your golf. 00:33Number one is to do away with this little thing here, the scorecard. If you're just 00:38looking to go out there and have a bit of fun, frankly it doesn't matter how many shots you're 00:44taking or what score you shoot at the end of the day. It's all about being out there on the 00:49golf 00:49course in and amongst nature, hitting some cool golf shots, spending time with your friends and 00:55enjoying it. That's how you should measure your day on the golf course. How much fun have you had, 01:00how much time have you spent laughing, how many golf shots have you hit that are memorable for 01:05all the right reasons. Let's be honest, whether you shoot 78, 84, 96, 172, it doesn't matter. 01:12Get rid of the scorecard, forget about the numbers and have a good time. 01:19Number two is using some different scoring and competition formats. Just because you're not 01:25writing down your stroke play score doesn't mean you can't have a little bit of friendly rivalry 01:31and add a bit of spice to your friendly round with your mates. Match play of course, as we know, 01:36is a brilliant way of doing that. You can have a bad hole and it doesn't affect the rest of 01:40your round 01:41at all. You can do it individually and in pairs. If you do try pairs, maybe a little bit of 01:47foursomes, 01:48alternate shot, you'll get round a bit quicker and it just adds a different dimension to your game. 01:53In terms of the other scoring formats, there are absolutely loads out there. Skins is a classic 01:58where you have to win the hole outright. If you don't, it all adds up through the holes 02:03and then the next person to win one outright takes the money or the points depending on whether 02:08you're gambling as well. There's 02:14some great golf formats on there that should give you some ideas. 02:21Number three is finding the right playing partners. It's so hard to have fun yourself if the guys you're 02:28with are frustrated, angry or just taking it really, really seriously. If you can find someone with the 02:35same outlook as you, who you get on with off the course as well as on it, it'll be so 02:40much easier 02:41for you to have fun on the course. 02:48Someone that sees the game like you do and wants to have fun as well is always your best playing 02:54partner. 02:57That's good, yeah. That nearly hit like within an inch of the middle of the club head to be fair. 03:02It was all right. I like that. I take that. I didn't think that was even possible. 03:06Going for the firm fade into that tucked left pin. 03:14Number four on our list is playing with a junior golfer. That can bring real lightheartedness to it. 03:21You can see what it's like for them to just really love it, play with freedom. And that will probably 03:26remind you what it was like when you were playing golf as a kid. Going out there for a few 03:32holes of 03:32a summer's evening. Anything just to be out there in and amongst nature, having fun, taking shots on. 03:38And you can really take on a bit of a mentoring role for them as well. It can add a 03:43totally different 03:44dimension. So if you get the opportunity to play with any juniors at your clubs or get your children 03:50into the game, do it. And I promise you will have way more fun with them on the golf course. 03:59Number five is taking on the hero shot. I found myself in a bit of a predicament down the right 04:06hand side on this par five. I'm in the trees, but I've got options. I could chip it out sideways. 04:11I could try and advance it a little bit. Or, as Seve always said, I can see a window. I 04:19can either fade 04:20it or draw it round that tree, but I've got to keep it low early. If it goes wrong, that 04:24is a card 04:25wrecker right there. But I don't have a card, so I'm going to take it on. I'm going to make 04:29myself a story 04:30that I can tell my grandkids and bore my playing partners with for years to come. Because I'm going to 04:35take on this hero shot and I'm going to nail it. So here we go. I'm taking this on and 04:43I'm going to 04:43make myself a hero. 04:55I need a hero. 05:02Number six is to only use a half set of clubs or even fewer. A three or a five club 05:09challenge can be 05:10a lot of fun. It forces you to take on some funky shots to get creative and maybe re-find 05:16that love 05:17of the artistry of golf that made you first fall in love with the game.
