II title.\n“There’s no difference (between the two titles) besides the fact that I got MVP freshman year,” Brown said. “I like the fact that my other teammates stepped up and got it going and started all the momentum. The Bulldogs lost some players from last year’s team but returned Rody Ricketts Jr. and Rickie Miller (both football players) and got hot in the tournament. Bunnell knocked off East Hartford, which handed Windsor one of their two losses in the CCC tournament final, in the Div. II semifinal game.\nBut the Bulldogs could not do a lot against Windsor’s suffocating defense, led at the top by Alex Weaver and Brown.\n“(The defense)’s always been there but they just had to play it on this big court,” Windsor coach Ken Smith said. “I thought it’d be kind of hard. But they spread out, they got after it and got a bunch of steals.\n“Missoni and Alex – that’s the head of the snake right there. There’s nothing like those two dudes.”\nWindsor had 15 steals; Bunnell had 20 turnovers. Weaver, who had 13 points, led Windsor with six steals. UNCASVILLE – Missoni Brown was the MVP of the [state championship basketball game](https://www.courant.com/2024/03/16/division-ii-boys-windsor-wins-first-title-since-2014-over-west-haven-in-an-overtime-thriller/) when he was a freshman. In December, he helped [Windsor win a football state title,](https://www.courant.com/2025/12/13/windsor-beats-bunnell-for-class-mm-football-title-its-first-since-2014/) its first since 2014. The past few weeks, Brown, a junior, was in the midst of another state championship run, again, in basketball, and he helped the Warriors win another title – his third overall – Sunday night at [Mohegan Sun.](https://mohegansun.com/poi/venues/mohegan-sun-arena.html) Brown had 16 points, seven assists and five steals as the top-seeded Warriors beat the same team they did in football, Bunnell, 78-52, for Windsor’s second state basketball title in the past three years. His junior teammate Ji Gary scored 22 points and was named MVP and Brown was OK with that. “All we thought was we was going to go out there and play our hardest game and leave it all on the court,” Brown said. Two years ago, Windsor beat West Haven 59-57 in overtime to win the Div. II title. “There’s no difference (between the two titles) besides the fact that I got MVP freshman year,” Brown said. “I like the fact that my other teammates stepped up and got it going and started all the momentum. (Photo by Lori Riley) Windsor (27-2) won its sixth state title. Bunnell (22-6) was coming off two Division III state championships. The Bulldogs lost some players from last year’s team but returned Rody Ricketts Jr. and Rickie Miller (both football players) and got hot in the tournament. Bunnell knocked off East Hartford, which handed Windsor one of their two losses in the CCC tournament final, in the Div. II semifinal game. But the Bulldogs could not do a lot against Windsor’s suffocating defense, led at the top by Alex Weaver and Brown. “(The defense)’s always been there but they just had to play it on this big court,” Windsor coach Ken Smith said. “I thought it’d be kind of hard. But they spread out, they got after it and got a bunch of steals. “Missoni and Alex – that’s the head of the snake right there. There’s nothing like those two dudes.” Windsor had 15 steals; Bunnell had 20 turnovers. Weaver, who had 13 points, led Windsor with six steals. Windsor also shot well – 46 percent from the field – and was 8 of 15 from the 3-point line, with Gary going 6 for 8 from 3. Meanwhile, Ricketts, who scored 14 against East Hartford in the semifinal, shot 4 for 15 Sunday and had eight points and five turnovers (he also had six assists). Brody Biggs led Bunnell with 15 points. “It feels great,” Brown said. “We made history. Twice. Readable Markdown	UNCASVILLE – Missoni Brown was the MVP of the [state championship basketball game](https://www.courant.com/2024/03/16/division-ii-boys-windsor-wins-first-title-since-2014-over-west-haven-in-an-overtime-thriller/) when he was a freshman. In December, he helped [Windsor win a football state title,](https://www.courant.com/2025/12/13/windsor-beats-bunnell-for-class-mm-football-title-its-first-since-2014/) its first since 2014. The past few weeks, Brown, a junior, was in the midst of another state championship run, again, in basketball, and he helped the Warriors win another title – his third overall – Sunday night at [Mohegan Sun.](https://mohegansun.com/poi/venues/mohegan-sun-arena.html) Brown had 16 points, seven assists and five steals as the top-seeded Warriors beat the same team they did in football, Bunnell, 78-52, for Windsor’s second state basketball title in the past three years. His junior teammate Ji Gary scored 22 points and was named MVP and Brown was OK with that. “All we thought was we was going to go out there and play our hardest game and leave it all on the court,” Brown said. Two years ago, Windsor beat West Haven 59-57 in overtime to win the Div. II title. “There’s no difference (between the two titles) besides the fact that I got MVP freshman year,” Brown said. “I like the fact that my other teammates stepped up and got it going and started all the momentum. (Photo by Lori Riley) Windsor (27-2) won its sixth state title. Bunnell (22-6) was coming off two Division III state championships. The Bulldogs lost some players from last year’s team but returned Rody Ricketts Jr. and Rickie Miller (both football players) and got hot in the tournament. Bunnell knocked off East Hartford, which handed Windsor one of their two losses in the CCC tournament final, in the Div. II semifinal game. But the Bulldogs could not do a lot against Windsor’s suffocating defense, led at the top by Alex Weaver and Brown. “(The defense)’s always been there but they just had to play it on this big court,” Windsor coach Ken Smith said. “I thought it’d be kind of hard. But they spread out, they got after it and got a bunch of steals. “Missoni and Alex – that’s the head of the snake right there. There’s nothing like those two dudes.” Windsor had 15 steals; Bunnell had 20 turnovers. Weaver, who had 13 points, led Windsor with six steals. Windsor also shot well – 46 percent from the field – and was 8 of 15 from the 3-point line, with Gary going 6 for 8 from 3. Meanwhile, Ricketts, who scored 14 against East Hartford in the semifinal, shot 4 for 15 Sunday and had eight points and five turnovers (he also had six assists). Brody Biggs led Bunnell with 15 points. “It feels great,” Brown said. “We made history. Twice.
