I recently purchased what I thought was simply rebranded as “Colgate Optic White Advanced Stain Fighting Toothpaste” (Batch Code 0056248 954046 9804). This was clearly my mistake and a bad choice. Immediately I noticed a strong strange “chemical” taste that prevailed even after rinsing. I compared the ingredients panel between the two products and found Propylene Glycol to be the first ingredient in the “Advanced” formula. I tried the product once more time in the evening and the results were the same terrible taste with the addition of some sensitive to the gums, inner lips and tongue. Perhaps the 2% hydrogen peroxide in combination with the Propylene Glycol is not a good for me. It didn’t dawn on me the first week after using when I got sore gums all over like a razor blade had made cuts all long gums especially in the front of my gums. I had a little soreness on the roof of my mouth but mostly on my gums. At first I didn’t think of the toothpaste but that was only change when it first started hurting. I have used many Colgate Total varieties and never had a problem and is the reason I didn’t think of the Optic White as a reason. She did not see the microscopic wording that said \"+ charcoal\". When I took off the cap the paste was purple. When exposed to the air it turned to charcoal gray. What genius at Colgate thinks people want to brush their teeth with dark gray toothpaste? A google search said charcoal is a mild abrasive for whitening teeth, but too frequent usage or vigorous brushing could damage your enamel over time. So who wants to use gray toothpaste to whiten your teeth and maybe damage your enamel.? Sorry, we just put two tubes in the trash. No foul since the new tubes are recyclable, except, unless you stand on the almost used portion of the tube you will leave 5% of the paste in the tube. Who comes up with these ideas. Have been trying to contact company. No response. At over \\$6 a box I feel they should have better customer service when there is a problem with their item. Tried the email feature got an error message that page was not available also tried chat feature, agent said they would send an email to me to send pictures of the damaged item. That just feels very wasteful because I should be able to wet my toothbrush before brushing my teeth without my toothpaste falling off of it. The toothpaste also tastes weird over time probably because the toothpaste is less fresh but my other toothpaste from other brands doesn’t have that issue. That isn’t a huge problem but I just do not reach for Colgate partially for this reason. The whitening version of Colgate also does not whiten my teeth. Crest's whitening toothpaste does whiten my teeth. Because of these reasons I don’t think I will be buying or using Colgate anymore.\n\nMore\n\nI have the worst experiences with this toothpaste. Half of the time I use it, it ends up on the floor because it falls off of my toothbrush. That’s a mess that just doesn’t feel fair to have to clean up because of Colgate's design flaw. Then, after I finally clean up the mess from the toothpaste, my toothpaste doesn’t taste fresh anymore because it’s been only a week since I bought the tube but for some reason that happens with Colgate. And maybe I bought the whitening version of this toothpaste because I wanted my teeth to be a little whiter? Well that one tastes even worse and does not even work too. The next morning I cleaned my teeth again before I was to go to the dentist, I brushed my teeth again with Colgate Deep Clean Whitening and within moments felt tingling, within a few minutes my lips started to really swell. I had to quickly find Vaseline because I could feel like my lips were going to split. My lips were HUGE. I started to panic and rang my husband to come home and he advised to quickly take Benadryl. I looked like I had a triple dose of lip fillers. I recently purchased what I thought was simply rebranded as “Colgate Optic White Advanced Stain Fighting Toothpaste” (Batch Code 0056248 954046 9804). This was clearly my mistake and a bad choice. Immediately I noticed a strong strange “chemical” taste that prevailed even after rinsing. I compared the ingredients panel between the two products and found Propylene Glycol to be the first ingredient in the “Advanced” formula. I tried the product once more time in the evening and the results were the same terrible taste with the addition of some sensitive to the gums, inner lips and tongue. Perhaps the 2% hydrogen peroxide in combination with the Propylene Glycol is not a good for me. I’ll read the ingredients panel more carefully in the future. Thanks for your vote\! It didn’t dawn on me the first week after using when I got sore gums all over like a razor blade had made cuts all long gums especially in the front of my gums. I had a little soreness on the roof of my mouth but mostly on my gums. At first I didn’t think of the toothpaste but that was only change when it first started hurting. I have used many Colgate Total varieties and never had a problem and is the reason I didn’t think of the Optic White as a reason. She did not see the microscopic wording that said "+ charcoal". When I took off the cap the paste was purple. When exposed to the air it turned to charcoal gray. What genius at Colgate thinks people want to brush their teeth with dark gray toothpaste? A google search said charcoal is a mild abrasive for whitening teeth, but too frequent usage or vigorous brushing could damage your enamel over time. So who wants to use gray toothpaste to whiten your teeth and maybe damage your enamel.? Sorry, we just put two tubes in the trash. No foul since the new tubes are recyclable, except, unless you stand on the almost used portion of the tube you will leave 5% of the paste in the tube. Who comes up with these ideas. At over \$6 a box I feel they should have better customer service when there is a problem with their item. Tried the email feature got an error message that page was not available also tried chat feature, agent said they would send an email to me to send pictures of the damaged item. They have changed the tube. It is very thick with less toothpaste in it and very hard to get it to stay on my brush. I will be going back to Crest. I should have never changed. Report BrookeSpencer, WI Reviewed May 10, 2024 I don’t like Colgate Toothpaste because the toothpaste always falls off my toothbrush. That just feels very wasteful because I should be able to wet my toothbrush before brushing my teeth without my toothpaste falling off of it. The toothpaste also tastes weird over time probably because the toothpaste is less fresh but my other toothpaste from other brands doesn’t have that issue. That isn’t a huge problem but I just do not reach for Colgate partially for this reason. The whitening version of Colgate also does not whiten my teeth. Crest's whitening toothpaste does whiten my teeth. Because of these reasons I don’t think I will be buying or using Colgate anymore. More I have the worst experiences with this toothpaste. Half of the time I use it, it ends up on the floor because it falls off of my toothbrush. That’s a mess that just doesn’t feel fair to have to clean up because of Colgate's design flaw. Then, after I finally clean up the mess from the toothpaste, my toothpaste doesn’t taste fresh anymore because it’s been only a week since I bought the tube but for some reason that happens with Colgate. And maybe I bought the whitening version of this toothpaste because I wanted my teeth to be a little whiter? Well that one tastes even worse and does not even work too. The next morning I cleaned my teeth again before I was to go to the dentist, I brushed my teeth again with Colgate Deep Clean Whitening and within moments felt tingling, within a few minutes my lips started to really swell. I had to quickly find Vaseline because I could feel like my lips were going to split. My lips were HUGE. I started to panic and rang my husband to come home and he advised to quickly take Benadryl.
