Take a 25-minute drive west and you’ll be in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains. \nCurt Gowdy State Park features approximately 35 miles of beautiful hiking trails, ranging from easy to expert. Trail guides are available at the visitor center inside the park.\nThe Medicine Bow National Forest features many trails that are well maintained with ample parking at the trail heads. A popular location is the Vedauwoo Recreation Area along with the Headquarters Trail.\nWithin the city limits you’ll find 45 miles of Greenway trails which are great for walking, running and biking. North Cheyenne Community Park offers soccer fields and mountain biking trails. \nLions Park is in the center of the city and is the largest urban green space with miles of Greenway trails, trees to picnic under and a great place to fish in Sloan’s Lake. \nGeocaching\nGeocaching asks participants to use a Global Positioning System (GPS) receiver or mobile device and other navigational techniques to hide and seek containers, called “geocaches” or “caches,” anywhere in the world.\nPicnic Areas\nThe entire area has a number of developed picnic areas and rustic areas where you can get back to nature and enjoy the great outdoors. Take a 25-minute drive west and you’ll be in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains.\n\nCurt Gowdy State Park features approximately 35 miles of beautiful hiking trails, ranging from easy to expert. Trail guides are available at the visitor center inside the park.\n\nThe Medicine Bow National Forest features many trails that are well maintained with ample parking at the trail heads. A popular location is the Vedauwoo Recreation Area along with the Headquarters Trail.\n\nWithin the city limits you’ll find 45 miles of Greenway trails which are great for walking, running and biking. North Cheyenne Community Park offers soccer fields and mountain biking trails.\n\nLions Park is in the center of the city and is the largest urban green space with miles of Greenway trails, trees to picnic under and a great place to fish in Sloan’s Lake.\n\n## Geocaching\nGeocaching asks participants to use a Global Positioning System (GPS) receiver or mobile device and other navigational techniques to hide and seek containers, called “geocaches” or “caches,” anywhere in the world.\n\n## Picnic Areas\nThe entire area has a number of developed picnic areas and rustic areas where you can get back to nature and enjoy the great outdoors. Trails Hiking for all levels of expertise can be found in and around Cheyenne. Take a 25-minute drive west and you’ll be in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains. Curt Gowdy State Park features approximately 35 miles of beautiful hiking trails, ranging from easy to expert. Trail guides are available at the visitor center inside the park. The Medicine Bow National Forest features many trails that are well maintained with ample parking at the trail heads. A popular location is the Vedauwoo Recreation Area along with the Headquarters Trail. Within the city limits you’ll find 45 miles of Greenway trails which are great for walking, running and biking. North Cheyenne Community Park offers soccer fields and mountain biking trails. Lions Park is in the center of the city and is the largest urban green space with miles of Greenway trails, trees to picnic under and a great place to fish in Sloan’s Lake. ## Geocaching Geocaching asks participants to use a Global Positioning System (GPS) receiver or mobile device and other navigational techniques to hide and seek containers, called “geocaches” or “caches,” anywhere in the world. ## Picnic Areas The entire area has a number of developed picnic areas and rustic areas where you can get back to nature and enjoy the great outdoors. The Vedauwoo area is world famous for towering rock formations, making it the perfect backdrop for an unforgettable picnic.
