Here’s a quick overview of a patient’s vaccination journey if offered the COVID-19 vaccination at CGH.\nIf your medical condition is stable and mild, you can continue to have your vaccination at the community vaccination centres. There are nurses and doctors on-site who can assist you as well.\nPlease come for the clinic appointment for your medical condition on your scheduled appointment date as arranged by your Doctor. CGH will continue to offer COVID-19 vaccinations for our patients who meet the medical criteria for vaccinations in the coming months.\nThe vaccine is free for all Singaporeans and long-term residents in Singapore, which includes Singapore Permanent Residents, and Employment Pass holders.\nYou will be getting the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine.\nThe vaccine consists of two doses, with the second dose due 21 days after the first dose.\nThe vaccine will be injected in your upper arm. To make this easier, you are advised to wear short-sleeved attire, or sleeves loose enough to be rolled up.\nYou may not be able to obtain an appointment on the same day. Vaccination appointments must be booked in advance to ensure that we order the vaccine for you.\nThe vaccine has been assessed to be safe. However, you may experience common side effects, similar to other vaccines. Most side effects are mild or moderate, and usually get better within a few days. The table below lists some common side effects that have been reported with this vaccine, and how to manage them.\nSide Effects\n\nHow to Manage\nPain, redness, swelling at the injection site\nFever, chills\nHeadache, muscle pain, joint pain\nParacetamol 1 to 2 tablets every 6 hours as needed\nTiredness\nRest\nLymph node swelling at neck or arms\nUsually gets better by itself in a week or so\nSee a doctor if:\nThe side effects persist or get worse\nThe fever persists for more than 48 hours (2 days)\nIn very rare cases, this vaccine can cause a severe allergic reaction. Signs of a severe allergic reaction include: difficulty breathing, swelling of your face, throat, eyes or lips, a fast heartbeat, dizziness and weakness, a bad rash all over your body. If you experience a severe allergic reaction, seek medical attention immediately. Call 995 or go to the nearest A&E immediately. \nThe vaccine injury financial assistance programme (VIFAP) by MOH will provide financial assistance to Singapore Citizens, Permanent Residents and Long-Term Pass holders vaccinated under the national vaccination programme, in the rare event that a person suffers from serious side effects that are assessed to be related to their COVID-19 vaccination.\nTo apply for VIFAP, individuals will need to submit an application accompanied by medical information on the serious side effect from their treating doctor. As shared by the Ministry of Health (MOH) on 16 March 2021, earlier vaccination for patients with complex chronic medical conditions will be offered at hospitals and clinics, as these patients are more vulnerable to severe complications if they were to fall ill with COVID-19. To support the national effort, CGH will be offering vaccination to patients with complex chronic medical conditions on follow-up at our specialist outpatient clinics, if they are medically eligible and have not received vaccination. Our doctors will assess and discuss with the patients at their next outpatient clinic consultation if they are eligible for vaccination. Patients do not need to contact CGH to make a separate appointment. Patients with stable or mild chronic medical conditions may continue to be vaccinated at community vaccination centres or polyclinics according to MOH’s invitation. If I have received my invitation from MOH for vaccination at the community vaccination centres, should I book an appointment? If your medical condition is stable and mild, you can continue to have your vaccination at the community vaccination centres. There are nurses and doctors on-site who can assist you as well. ## 2\. Can I book an earlier appointment at the specialist outpatient clinics to request for the vaccination? Please come for the clinic appointment for your medical condition on your scheduled appointment date as arranged by your Doctor. CGH will continue to offer COVID-19 vaccinations for our patients who meet the medical criteria for vaccinations in the coming months. ## 3\. Is the vaccine free? The vaccine is free for all Singaporeans and long-term residents in Singapore, which includes Singapore Permanent Residents, and Employment Pass holders. ## 4\. Which vaccine am I getting at CGH? You will be getting the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine. ## 5\. How many doses are there? The vaccine consists of two doses, with the second dose due 21 days after the first dose. ## 6\. How will the vaccine be administered? The vaccine will be injected in your upper arm. To make this easier, you are advised to wear short-sleeved attire, or sleeves loose enough to be rolled up. ## 7\. Can I get my vaccination on the same day as my clinic appointment? You may not be able to obtain an appointment on the same day. Vaccination appointments must be booked in advance to ensure that we order the vaccine for you. ## 9\. What are the possible side effects of the vaccine? The vaccine has been assessed to be safe. However, you may experience common side effects, similar to other vaccines. Most side effects are mild or moderate, and usually get better within a few days. Signs of a severe allergic reaction include: difficulty breathing, swelling of your face, throat, eyes or lips, a fast heartbeat, dizziness and weakness, a bad rash all over your body. If you experience a severe allergic reaction, seek medical attention immediately. Call 995 or go to the nearest A\&E immediately. ## 10\. Readable Markdown	Singapore is accelerating the pace in our national COVID-19 vaccination programme to extend vaccination to more segments of the population. As shared by the Ministry of Health (MOH) on 16 March 2021, earlier vaccination for patients with complex chronic medical conditions will be offered at hospitals and clinics, as these patients are more vulnerable to severe complications if they were to fall ill with COVID-19. To support the national effort, CGH will be offering vaccination to patients with complex chronic medical conditions on follow-up at our specialist outpatient clinics, if they are medically eligible and have not received vaccination. Our doctors will assess and discuss with the patients at their next outpatient clinic consultation if they are eligible for vaccination. Patients do not need to contact CGH to make a separate appointment. Patients with stable or mild chronic medical conditions may continue to be vaccinated at community vaccination centres or polyclinics according to MOH’s invitation. Here’s a quick overview of a patient’s vaccination journey if offered the COVID-19 vaccination at CGH. ![](https://www.cgh.com.sg/content/dam/singhealth-web/cgh/clinic-visit/outpatient-covid-19/images/patient%20vaccination%20roadmap.jpg) If your medical condition is stable and mild, you can continue to have your vaccination at the community vaccination centres. There are nurses and doctors on-site who can assist you as well. Please come for the clinic appointment for your medical condition on your scheduled appointment date as arranged by your Doctor. CGH will continue to offer COVID-19 vaccinations for our patients who meet the medical criteria for vaccinations in the coming months. The vaccine is free for all Singaporeans and long-term residents in Singapore, which includes Singapore Permanent Residents, and Employment Pass holders. You will be getting the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine. The vaccine consists of two doses, with the second dose due 21 days after the first dose. The vaccine will be injected in your upper arm. To make this easier, you are advised to wear short-sleeved attire, or sleeves loose enough to be rolled up. You may not be able to obtain an appointment on the same day. Vaccination appointments must be booked in advance to ensure that we order the vaccine for you. The vaccine has been assessed to be safe. However, you may experience common side effects, similar to other vaccines. Most side effects are mild or moderate, and usually get better within a few days. The table below lists some common side effects that have been reported with this vaccine, and how to manage them. \| \| \| \|---\|---\| \| Side Effects \| How to Manage \| \| Pain, redness, swelling at the injection site Fever, chills Headache, muscle pain, joint pain \| Paracetamol 1 to 2 tablets every 6 hours as needed \| \| Tiredness \| Rest \| \| Lymph node swelling at neck or arms \| Usually gets better by itself in a week or so \| See a doctor if: - The side effects persist or get worse - The fever persists for more than 48 hours (2 days) In very rare cases, this vaccine can cause a severe allergic reaction. Signs of a severe allergic reaction include: difficulty breathing, swelling of your face, throat, eyes or lips, a fast heartbeat, dizziness and weakness, a bad rash all over your body. If you experience a severe allergic reaction, seek medical attention immediately. Call 995 or go to the nearest A\&E immediately. The vaccine injury financial assistance programme (VIFAP) by MOH will provide financial assistance to Singapore Citizens, Permanent Residents and Long-Term Pass holders vaccinated under the national vaccination programme, in the rare event that a person suffers from serious side effects that are assessed to be related to their COVID-19 vaccination. To apply for VIFAP, individuals will need to submit an application accompanied by medical information on the serious side effect from their treating doctor. All applications will be reviewed by an independent clinical panel for the relatedness and severity of the side effect(s) to the COVID-19 vaccine received.
