On the heels of BMW's announcement that it is
spinning off luxury tuner Alpina as a new subbrand
, the company is launching a celebratory special edition marking the end of production of the only remaining Alpina-tuned BMW model, the
X7-based
Alpina XB7 SUV.
Only 120 of the Alpina XB7 Manufaktur will be built, and all of them will come identically equipped, right down to the 23-inch forged 20-spoke Alpina wheels. The only thing you have to do is select your paint color: Frozen Alpina Green or Frozen Alpina Blue.
Rather than the usual bright silver exterior trim, everything on the Manufaktur edition has been blacked out, including the wheels. An elaborate black pinstripe adorns the body side, and all 120 models will wear exclusive XB7 Manufaktur badging on the liftgate and a laser-etched Manufaktur logo on the B-pillars.

Inside, the seats, dash, and doors are lined in Tartufo Merino leather in a color called Walnut Nature Black. The headrests feature special Alpina embroidery, and a "1 of 120" plaque adorns the center console. Second-row captain's chairs are standard, as is a Bowers & Wilkins Diamond surround-sound stereo system. In the trunk, you'll find a matching pair of Alpina-branded leather weekender bags.
Under the hood is the same 631-hp twin-turbo V-8 as the standard XB7. BMW says it's powerful enough to propel this three-row sled to 60 mph in 3.9 seconds, but that's a conservative estimate. We last
tested an Alpina XB7 in 2021
, when its engine made 19 fewer ponies, and that model scooted to 60 in just 3.7 seconds.

An air suspension is standard and can lower the XB7 by 1.6 inches, which BMW says reduces the SUV's center of gravity and improves handling. Rear-axle steering is also on hand and can turn the rear wheels up to 2.3 degrees to shorten the XB7's turning radius and improve stability when cruising on the highway.
The price for all this exclusiveness? $181,550. But obviously, you will have to act quickly if you want to secure your spot among the 120 buyers. Production is scheduled to start in September 2026 at BMW's Spartanburg, South Carolina, plant.
The final run of the XB7 marks the end of an era, and the newly formed BMW Alpina brand is expected to launch something new in the coming years. Similar to the current method of Alpina tuning, we expect future BMW Alpina models to include improved performance and luxury over the standard BMWs they'll be based on, with more bespoke options for its high-end customer base.

On the heels of BMW's announcement that it is [spinning off luxury tuner Alpina as a new subbrand](https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a69903454/bmw-announces-standalone-alpina-brand/), the company is launching a celebratory special edition marking the end of production of the only remaining Alpina-tuned BMW model, the [X7-based](https://www.caranddriver.com/bmw/x7) Alpina XB7 SUV.
Only 120 of the Alpina XB7 Manufaktur will be built, and all of them will come identically equipped, right down to the 23-inch forged 20-spoke Alpina wheels. The only thing you have to do is select your paint color: Frozen Alpina Green or Frozen Alpina Blue.
Rather than the usual bright silver exterior trim, everything on the Manufaktur edition has been blacked out, including the wheels. An elaborate black pinstripe adorns the body side, and all 120 models will wear exclusive XB7 Manufaktur badging on the liftgate and a laser-etched Manufaktur logo on the B-pillars.
BMW
Inside, the seats, dash, and doors are lined in Tartufo Merino leather in a color called Walnut Nature Black. The headrests feature special Alpina embroidery, and a "1 of 120" plaque adorns the center console. Second-row captain's chairs are standard, as is a Bowers & Wilkins Diamond surround-sound stereo system. In the trunk, you'll find a matching pair of Alpina-branded leather weekender bags.
Under the hood is the same 631-hp twin-turbo V-8 as the standard XB7. BMW says it's powerful enough to propel this three-row sled to 60 mph in 3.9 seconds, but that's a conservative estimate. We last [tested an Alpina XB7 in 2021](https://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/a36648311/2021-bmw-alpina-xb7-by-the-numbers/), when its engine made 19 fewer ponies, and that model scooted to 60 in just 3.7 seconds.
BMW
An air suspension is standard and can lower the XB7 by 1.6 inches, which BMW says reduces the SUV's center of gravity and improves handling. Rear-axle steering is also on hand and can turn the rear wheels up to 2.3 degrees to shorten the XB7's turning radius and improve stability when cruising on the highway.
The price for all this exclusiveness? \$181,550. But obviously, you will have to act quickly if you want to secure your spot among the 120 buyers. Production is scheduled to start in September 2026 at BMW's Spartanburg, South Carolina, plant.
The final run of the XB7 marks the end of an era, and the newly formed BMW Alpina brand is expected to launch something new in the coming years. Similar to the current method of Alpina tuning, we expect future BMW Alpina models to include improved performance and luxury over the standard BMWs they'll be based on, with more bespoke options for its high-end customer base.
