Getting vaccinated against COVID-19 is one of the best ways to help prevent COVID-19, especially severe disease. And they don't just protect you. By getting vaccinated, you’ll also help keep your family and your community safe from COVID-19.
Take Preventive Actions
There are simple, everyday preventive actions outlined by the
CDC
that can help prevent the spread of viruses like COVID-19 and the flu:Â
Wear a mask in public indoor spaces if you don't feel well, were exposed to COVID, or just feel more comfortable wearing a mask.
Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
Use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60 percent alcohol if soap and water are not available.
Get Tested for COVID-19 and Call Your Provider if Symptoms Arise
At-home tests are a great way to test for COVID-19. If you test positive on an at-home test, you should assume you have COVID-19. Please do not come to get another test to “confirm” a positive at-home test.
If you tested positive on an at-home test and have mild symptoms or no symptoms, please stay home and isolate for at least five days, or until your fever or other symptoms go away, whichever comes later.
If you have symptoms of COVID-19 and want to be seen by your doctor, please call your primary care team’s office to schedule an appointment. Be sure to tell them that you have symptoms of COVID-19 before your appointment.
Practice Social Distancing
The
CDC
and other health care organizations have recommended that you practice social distancing to protect yourself and others from COVID-19. Their recommendations include:
Keep your distance from others outside your household (about six feet).
Consider taking the stairs between floors to avoid crowding elevators. |
