| Boilerpipe Text | This list covers the very best things to do in Paris, because, as Audrey Hepburn said,
Paris is always a good idea
.
Itâs got lots of great ideas for you to scroll through and choose the ones that appeal to you, but I always love to leave room for moments of serendipity. My advice would be not to pack your Paris trip with too many things each day so you can also sit and be.
I also recommend two gorgeous
boutique hotels in Saint Germain
, with the most adorable cafes at the end of the street. Thatâs at the end of this post.
I spent last Christmas in Paris and absolutely loved walking around the famous sites and seeing the sights. But in this post, while I cover the Eiffel Tower, the Lourve etc, I also uncover some hidden gems and off-the-beaten-track places you might not know about.
This is a helpful map with numbered arrondissements to choose where to stay in relation to the sights you want to see.

mouth-watering post on the all the food you must try when you visit Paris

I ran that list past our walking tour guide too to make sure Iâd covered the very best things and he concurred, so that was comforting. Although I had missed out croissants! (Immediately updated).

Where to stay in Paris
Want a bit more of Paris?
Where to next?
Dinner at Georgeâs on the rooftop of Centre Pompidou â now closed:(
The City of Light (so-named because Paris was the first city in Europe to have gas street lighting in the 19th century) is sectioned into arondissements, neighborhoods. But as youâll see from the little map above, donât be fooled into thinking arondissement 10 is miles away, for example, as itâs an easy walk to #1 where youâll find the Louvre, etc.
Hereâs my list of the best must-dos in Paris:
Eiffel Tower
Of course! The Eiffel Tower is the most famous landmark in the French capital. Itâs a symbol of Parisian romance and engineering marvel, built in 1887 by Gustave Eiffel for the 1889 World Fair in Paris. And a bit like that painting you did in school, itâs been there ever since.
Pro tip:
never line up with the masses for hours to view an attraction! Get a timed ticket entry and skip the line, to go up inside for the views.
This ticket gets you guided access to the second floor
and go up via elevator if you wish!
Youâll also find
the guided climb on the Go City Pass
, of you plan to see and do a bunch of things and want to save on individual ticket prices.
Ready to climb?
But you donât have to climb it! If the 674 steps are a bit much, thereâs an elevator up to various levels, depending on what ticket youâve bought.
There are also three restaurants on various levels and a bar up here, so plan to stay for a glass of champagne at least! And did you know that there is a bizarre law saying
you canât photograph the Eiffel Tower at night
?!
Christmas Day at the Trocodero, one of the best spots for a photo of the Eiffel Tower
Louvre Museum
Housing a vast collection of art spanning centuries and continents, the
Musée du Louvre
is a cultural treasure trove. Itâs got a lot more in it than the little painting of
Mona Lisa
(which you can see from your couch thanks to live webcams) and Venus de Milo. You could literally spend days in here.
But Iâd say, donât even bother coming if youâre only wanting to see the aforementioned tiny painting. Too many people and sheâs really small and super underwhelming â in my humble opinion! Mind you, most people clearly disagree with me as sheâs getting her own special room built.
Pro Tip:
If you want to see the Mona Lisa, then book either the earliest tour in the day before the crowds, or go later in the day between 6-9pm and then have free time to wander with fewer people. Tour links below.
Walking through the Louvre Palace to the Museum
At over 60,000 sqm (652,300 square feet), its galleries are home to some of the worldâs most iconic masterpieces. There a few ways to get the most out of your visit: You can wander in and explore the museumâs labyrinthine halls, getting lost in the impressive exhibitions.
Or, and I suggest the best way to see the Louvre, is to take this
private guided tour and learn some fascinating stuff from an expert
,
as well as see things you might not have ever found otherwise. You can tailor this tour to your interests too.
Or just buy this
skip-the-line timed entry ticket
and go at your own pace.
Christmas Day in Paris was busy!
Notre-Dame Cathedral
Notre-Dame Cathedral stands proudly, albeit injured, on the River Seine, and itâs proudly open again after the terrible fire.
Its Gothic façade, adorned with intricate carvings and gargoyles, is captivating and grand. You can wander in of your own accord to look around, say a prayer, sit for a moment. The towers are still not open yet.
But if you buy one of the three types of Paris Go City Passes, it includes this
one-hour guided tour
of the outside facade, then follow the guide down in the crypt and hear all about the secrets it holds.
This is as close as you can get to Notre Dame while itâs be repaired
Montmartre
Perched on a hill overlooking Paris, the Montmartre neighborhood (18th arondissement) exudes a charming and bohemian spirit.
Its winding streets and bustling squares are the playground of artists, performers, and dreamers, inviting you to lose yourself in its vibrant atmosphere.
The sweet streets of Montmartre
From the iconic SacrĂ©-CĆur Basilica to the bustling Place du Tertre, Montmartre offers a glimpse into Parisâ artistic soul and a chance to experience the cityâs creative energy firsthand.
Explore its quirky shops, savor a café au lait at a sidewalk bistro, or simply soak in the views with some fascinating people-watching.
If you want to join a pastry, wine and cheese tasting tour in Monmartre, youâll love
this guided walking tour
visiting eight different stops to taste delicious French cuisine with panoramic views paired with French wine. Discover the windmills and vineyards that make Montmartre much more than a Parisian cliché.
The steps of SacrĂ©-CĆur in Montmartre
Seine River Cruise
We did this on Christmas Day for a wonderful lunch, and it was great! A Seine River cruise is the perfect way to experience the magic of Paris from a different perspective.
This river cruise is included in the
Go City passes
, which might be worth buying if you plan to see a bunch of things while youâre here.
Or you can just
get tickets for this top selling one hour Seine River cruise
to take all the photos and enjoy the perspective from the water.
You board in front of the
Eiffel Tower
, and cruise past
Notre-Dame Cathedral
, and
MusĂ©e dâOrsay
, beneath bridges and past charming quaysides.
You donât need to take a dinner or lunch cruise, you could just sit back, relax, and soak in the romantic ambiance of beautiful Paris. But if you do want to treat yourself, you could
book a dinner cruise on the Seine with live music for a truly magical evening
.
Or even just a
champagne tasting cruise along the Seine
from the Eiffel Tower.
Champagne on the Seine!
MusĂ©e dâOrsay
Housed in a stunning Beaux-Arts railway station, on the banks of the River Seine, the MusĂ©e dâOrsay is a treasure trove of impressionist and post-impressionist art.
See the vibrant brushstrokes of Monet and the haunting portraits of Van Gogh, as its galleries showcase the revolutionary works of 19th-century masters. Youâll love exploring the museumâs expansive collection of painting, sculpture, photography, and decorative arts.
With its breathtaking architecture and unparalleled collection, the MusĂ©e dâOrsay offers a captivating journey through one of the most transformative periods in art history.
Versailles Palace
This is one of the best places to visit whilst in Paris. Take a day trip out of Paris to the Palace of Versailles. You can get a train for about âŹ4 each way from Paris, or
take a tour with pick up and drop off in Paris
.
I visited years ago and was gob-smacked, itâs so beautiful. The palace is grand and shows off the excesses of the French monarchy. Itâs a masterpiece of Baroque architecture and stunning landscape design.
As you enter the grounds youâll see Marie Antoinetteâs hamlet, the Queenâs hamlet, built for her to entertain her friends in 1783.
Marie Antoinetteâs hamlet for entertaining her guests
But inside the palace youâll love the opulent Hall of Mirrors, and look out to the sprawling gardens dotted with fountains and sculptures. Every corner of the palace reflects the extravagance of Louis XIV, the Sun Kingâs, reign.
Stroll through gilded halls, marvel at the lavish apartments, and imagine being here in the era of courtly pomp and pageantry.
With its rich history and breathtaking beauty, Versailles Palace offers an unforgettable day trip for glimpse into Franceâs royal past and artistic legacy.

If you
prefer a tour departing from Paris
, you can

, and skip-the-line with full access to the gardens and palace.
The Palace of Versailles gardens are breathtaking!
Visit Monetâs ACTUAL Gardens
Claude Monetâs garden is located about 50 miles (80km) northwest of Paris in
Giverny
, a village in the Normandy region of France. Giverny is where Monet lived for many years and created some of his most famous works, including his series of water lilies and paintings of his garden.
When you step into Monetâs Giverny gardens you realise he was a gardener before he was a painter. Walk across the iconic
Japanese Bridge
nestled in the
Water Garden
, adorned with wisteria. The
Flower Garden
is a kaleidoscope of tulips and roses and immerse in Monetâs world.
If you want to take your own time,
buy skip-the-line tickets
and include a guide, which is a top tip if you want to really know what itâs all about. You can get to Giverny by train from Paris to Vernon, then a shuttle or taxi.
Or take this full-day tour from Paris and include a visit to Versailles too.
Monetâs Gardens in Giverny
Sainte Chapelle
Tucked away on the Ăle de la CitĂ©, Sainte-Chapelle is a hidden gem of Gothic architecture and stained glass artistry.
Its soaring nave and delicate rose windows transport create an ethereal beauty. Sunlight filters through the kaleidoscopic panes, and it feels like youâre looking at heaven, as the scenes from the Bible and the lives of saints are depciting in the glass.
Admiring its intricate carvings or marveling at its celestial light, Sainte-Chapelle is a wonderful moment of faith and artistic expression.
Inside stunning Sainte Chappelle
Catacombs of Paris
Not for the faint-hearted, but beneath the bustling streets of Paris lies a secret world of tunnels and ossuaries known as the Catacombs. This eerie labyrinth, lined with the bones of millions of Parisians, offers a haunting glimpse into the cityâs darker side.
As you descend into the subterranean depths, you are confronted with the inevitability of mortality.
Underground in the Paris Catacombs
I quite like wandering through cemeteries and reading grave stones, but this is quite different. Itâs macabre, but also the Catacombs are a unique opportunity to confront our fears and contemplate the mysteries of existence.
I havenât personally visited these Catacombs in Paris, but I have been to the Catecombs in Santiago, Chile, and found it truly fascinating. I didnât mind the bones, all lined up by type, but the skulls arranged in a circular pattern were very eerie.
Grab your Catacombs Tour tickets including Seine River cruise here >
Skulls and bones on display in the Paris Catacombs
Jardin du Luxembourg
Nestled in the heart of Paris, the Jardin du Luxembourg (Garden of Luxembourg) is a 23 hectare oasis of greenery and serenity surrounding Luxembourg Castle. Its manicured lawns, vibrant flowerbeds, and picturesque ponds provide a welcome respite from the hustle and bustle of the city.
Stroll along shaded pathways, relax in the shade of ancient trees, or admire the fountains and statues that adorn the gardens. Enjoy a picnic, a game of chess, or simply a moment of quiet reflection. The Jardin du Luxembourg is peaceful sanctuary and a glimpse into the beauty of Parisian life.

Canal Saint-Martin
Tucked away in the vibrant 10th arrondissement, Canal Saint-Martin offers a charming retreat from the hustle and bustle of central Paris. Its tranquil waters, lined with leafy trees and historic buildings, provide a picturesque setting for leisurely strolls and romantic boat rides.
I took a canal boat ride, which is a lovely perspective to see the city from, gliding quietly past boutiques, cafes, and galleries along its banks. People-watching in the bohemian vibe of one of Parisâ most eclectic neighborhoods is a favorite passtime of mine.
It also takes you underground, which I found fascinating. Iâve written more about it and added photos of my
underground canal boat ride in Paris
.
Beautiful Canal Saint-Martin
Le Marais
Steeped in history and charm, Le Marais is an olde worlde neighborhood in the 3rd and 4th arondissement, with narrow cobblestone streets, historic mansions, and trendy boutiques.
From the grandeur of Place des Vosges to the hip cafes and art galleries of Rue des Francs-Bourgeois, every corner of Le Marais tells a story of the elegance and bohemian spirit of Paris. Explore hidden courtyards, sample artisanal treats at bustling markets, and soak in the eclectic atmosphere of one of Parisâ most dynamic districts.
Whether itâs admiring medieval architecture or indulging in contemporary culture, Le Marais offers a wonderful blend of old-world charm and modern-day allure.
Wander through the Marais
Musée Rodin
Nestled in a leafy enclave of Paris, the Musée Rodin is a tranquil retreat for art lovers and garden enthusiasts.
Youâll walk past the iconic sculptures of The Thinker and The Kiss, amid lush greenery and manicured lawns and rose gardens. Itâs such a wonderful spot to take your time and enjoy.
Wander along sun-dappled pathways, admiring these masterpieces of Rodinâs creations. Whether itâs a leisurely stroll or an afternoon of culture youâre after, the MusĂ©e Rodin is an enchanting escape from the bustle of the city and reconnect with nature and culture.
If youâre taking the kids to Paris, Iâve created a fun
downloadable Paris Treasure Hunt
which is in my Etsy store for days of entertainment checking Parienne icons off my list!
Paris Flea Markets
If youâre a vintage treasure and hidden gems kinda girl (guy), Paris Flea Markets offer a trove of unique finds and delights.
Whether youâre hunting for antique furniture, retro clothing, or quirky collectibles, the marketsâ labyrinthine stalls and bustling atmosphere promise an exhilarating shopping experience like no other. From the sprawling MarchĂ© aux Puces de Saint-Ouen to the charming alleyways of MarchĂ© aux Puces de Vanves, each market has its own distinctive character and eclectic offerings.
Whether youâre a seasoned collector or a casual browser, the Paris flea markets offer a glimpse into the rich cultural heritage and a chance to take something special home.
I would also recommend strolling past the little green boxes where the bouquinistes (book sellers) sell vintage books, art and other collectibles along the Seine. Theyâve been here for 300 years and I reckon they are
the best place in Paris to pick up a unique souvenir
.
Browse at the bouquinistes
Visit PĂšre Lachaise Cemetery
This is the cemetery to pay your respects to famous poets, artists, and statesmen, like Oscar Wilde, Jim Morrison, and Edith Piaf.
Whether itâs a leisurely stroll or a pilgrimage for fans, PĂšre Lachaise Cemetery is a beautiful place to visit and remember the legacy of those who came before us.

Whether itâs sipping coffee on a sunny terrace or discovering hidden gems around every corner, Belleville promises an unforgettable adventure through Parisian culture and community.

Getting Around Paris
Need an airport transfer? You can get a
private airport to the city pick up
in this luxury car,
We used a combination of Metro, thanks to one of our guides on a walking tour who showed us how to use it. Itâs really simple, especially if youâre used to the subway/tube from wherever youâve been before.

Another way to get around Paris is on a
Hop On Hop Off Bus
tour. Buy a pass for a day or two and if you strategically plan your geographical actvities, it can also serve as a taxi. Albeit a doube-decker one!
The
Hop On Hop Off Big Bus
is also on the Go City Paris app, so thatâs another reason to invest in a pass.
I just noticed the horse and rider ON the bus!

Take an Emily in Paris walking tour:
Iâm a fan of the show, starring American fashion PR Emily (played by Lily Collins, daughter of singer Phil Collins). I love it for the Paris street scenes and the amazing costumes in every scene, not just hers, but all the girls in the cast!

Where to stay in Paris
I have two gorgeous hotel recommendations for you. We stayed at the very gorgeous
Hotel lâAbbaye
, the best kept secret in Saint-Germain.
This 4-star, boutique hotel is located in the 6th arrondissement, and within a 50 metre stroll to the adorable
Cafe Cassette
, festooned in flowers from floor to ceiling. There are only 44 rooms, so I do hope you can stay. It really is lovely.
Another fabulous hotel, that my friend Kyleigh has just come back from and adored, also in Saint Germain, is
Hotel Au Manoir
.
They found the rooms a little more spacious than Hotel lâAbbaye. Itâs also across the road from the iconic
Cafe de Flore
. Other great recommendations are
Ralphâs Restaurant
(yes, of Ralph Lauren fame) a block away, and
Cafe Louise
under the hotel to sit with a croissant and a ciggie with the locals â her words!

This list covers the very best things to do in Paris, because, as Audrey Hepburn said, **Paris is always a good idea**.
Itâs got lots of great ideas for you to scroll through and choose the ones that appeal to you, but I always love to leave room for moments of serendipity. My advice would be not to pack your Paris trip with too many things each day so you can also sit and be.
I also recommend two gorgeous **boutique hotels in Saint Germain**, with the most adorable cafes at the end of the street.

Because travel and food are synonymous, Iâve written this [mouth-watering post on the all the food you must try when you visit Paris](https://www.bloggeratlarge.com/the-absolute-best-things-to-eat-in-paris/).
I ran that list past our walking tour guide too to make sure Iâd covered the very best things and he concurred, so that was comforting. Although I had missed out croissants! (Immediately updated).
But if youâve seen the main sights of Paris before, then you might like to jump straight to my post on the [best rooftop bars for great views in Paris](https://www.bloggeratlarge.com/best-paris-rooftop-bars/) instead.

Dinner at Georgeâs on the rooftop of Centre Pompidou â now closed:(
The City of Light (so-named because Paris was the first city in Europe to have gas street lighting in the 19th century) is sectioned into arondissements, neighborhoods. But as youâll see from the little map above, donât be fooled into thinking arondissement 10 is miles away, for example, as itâs an easy walk to \#1 where youâll find the Louvre, etc.
## Hereâs my list of the best must-dos in Paris:
### **Eiffel Tower**
Of course! The Eiffel Tower is the most famous landmark in the French capital. Itâs a symbol of Parisian romance and engineering marvel, built in 1887 by Gustave Eiffel for the 1889 World Fair in Paris. And a bit like that painting you did in school, itâs been there ever since.
***Pro tip:*** never line up with the masses for hours to view an attraction! Get a timed ticket entry and skip the line, to go up inside for the views. **[This ticket gets you guided access to the second floor](https://www.getyourguide.com/paris-l16/paris-eiffel-tower-summit-or-second-floor-access-t62484/?partner_id=G7GZQBV&utm_medium=online_publisher&cmp=Paris)** and go up via elevator if you wish\!
Youâll also find [**the guided climb on the Go City Pass**](https://prf.hn/click/camref:1011l4hpWU/%5Bp_id:1100l467077%5D/destination:https%3A%2F%2Fgocity.com%2Fen%2Fparis%2Fattractions%2Feiffel-tower-guided-climb), of you plan to see and do a bunch of things and want to save on individual ticket prices.

Ready to climb?
But you donât have to climb it! If the 674 steps are a bit much, thereâs an elevator up to various levels, depending on what ticket youâve bought.
There are also three restaurants on various levels and a bar up here, so plan to stay for a glass of champagne at least! And did you know that there is a bizarre law saying [you canât photograph the Eiffel Tower at night](https://www.bloggeratlarge.com/did-you-know-weird-wacky-crazy-travel-facts/)?\!

Christmas Day at the Trocodero, one of the best spots for a photo of the Eiffel Tower
### **Louvre Museum**
Housing a vast collection of art spanning centuries and continents, the **MusĂ©e du Louvre** is a cultural treasure trove. Itâs got a lot more in it than the little painting of [Mona Lisa](https://www.bloggeratlarge.com/see-mona-lisa-from-your-armchair/) (which you can see from your couch thanks to live webcams) and Venus de Milo.
***Pro Tip:*** If you want to see the Mona Lisa, then book either the earliest tour in the day before the crowds, or go later in the day between 6-9pm and then have free time to wander with fewer people.

Or, and I suggest the best way to see the Louvre, is to take this **[private guided tour and learn some fascinating stuff from an expert](https://www.getyourguide.com/paris-l16/paris-louvre-museum-tour-mona-lisa-iconic-masterpieces-t457745/?partner_id=G7GZQBV&utm_medium=online_publisher&cmp=Paris),** as well as see things you might not have ever found otherwise. You can tailor this tour to your interests too.
Or just buy this [**skip-the-line timed entry ticket**](https://www.getyourguide.com/en-au/paris-l16/louvre-museum-skip-the-line-entrance-ticket-t145779/?ranking_uuid=f895ec65-7ec4-4a26-b4ce-3f9b995e4ef3) and go at your own pace.

Christmas Day in Paris was busy\!
### **Notre-Dame Cathedral**
Notre-Dame Cathedral stands proudly, albeit injured, on the River Seine, and itâs proudly open again after the terrible fire.
Its Gothic façade, adorned with intricate carvings and gargoyles, is captivating and grand. You can wander in of your own accord to look around, say a prayer, sit for a moment. The towers are still not open yet.
But if you buy one of the three types of Paris Go City Passes, it includes this [**one-hour guided tour**](https://prf.hn/click/camref:1011l4hpWU/%5Bp_id:1100l467077%5D/destination:https%3A%2F%2Fgocity.com%2Fen%2Fparis%2Fattractions%2Fnotre-dame-archeological-crypt-experience) of the outside facade, then follow the guide down in the crypt and hear all about the secrets it holds.

This is as close as you can get to Notre Dame while itâs be repaired
### **Montmartre**

If you want to join a pastry, wine and cheese tasting tour in Monmartre, youâll love [**this guided walking tour**](https://www.getyourguide.com/paris-l16/paris-3-hour-montmartre-cheese-wine-and-pastry-tour-t139980/?partner_id=G7GZQBV&utm_medium=online_publisher) visiting eight different stops to taste delicious French cuisine with panoramic views paired with French wine. Discover the windmills and vineyards that make Montmartre much more than a Parisian clichĂ©.

The steps of SacrĂ©-CĆur in Montmartre
### **Seine River Cruise**
We did this on Christmas Day for a wonderful lunch, and it was great! A Seine River cruise is the perfect way to experience the magic of Paris from a different perspective.
This river cruise is included in the [**Go City passes**](https://prf.hn/click/camref:1011l4hpWU/%5Bp_id:1100l467077%5D/destination:https%3A%2F%2Fgocity.com%2Fen%2Fparis%2Fattractions), which might be worth buying if you plan to see a bunch of things while youâre here.
Or you can just [**get tickets for this top selling one hour Seine River cruise**](https://www.getyourguide.com/seine-river-l2601/bateaux-parisiens-cruise-quick-entry-ticket-t193940/) to take all the photos and enjoy the perspective from the water.
You board in front of the **Eiffel Tower**, and cruise past **Notre-Dame Cathedral**, and **MusĂ©e dâOrsay**, beneath bridges and past charming quaysides.
You donât need to take a dinner or lunch cruise, you could just sit back, relax, and soak in the romantic ambiance of beautiful Paris. But if you do want to treat yourself, you could ***[book a dinner cruise on the Seine with live music for a truly magical evening](https://www.getyourguide.com/paris-l16/paris-seine-river-bistronomic-dinner-cruise-t495595/?partner_id=G7GZQBV&utm_medium=online_publisher&cmp=Paris).***
***Or even just a [champagne tasting cruise along the Seine](https://www.getyourguide.com/paris-l16/palace-of-versailles-full-access-passport-ticket-t59565/?partner_id=G7GZQBV&utm_medium=online_publisher&cmp=Paris) from the Eiffel Tower.***

Champagne on the Seine\!
### **MusĂ©e dâOrsay**

### **Versailles Palace**
This is one of the best places to visit whilst in Paris. Take a day trip out of Paris to the Palace of Versailles. You can get a train for about âŹ4 each way from Paris, or **[take a tour with pick up and drop off in Paris](https://www.getyourguide.com/paris-l16/3-hour-guided-tour-of-versailles-by-minibus-t13417/?partner_id=G7GZQBV&utm_medium=online_publisher&cmp=Paris)**.

***[Buy your timed tickets for to Versailles, with full access plus gardens, here \>](https://www.getyourguide.com/paris-l16/palace-of-versailles-full-access-passport-ticket-t59565/?partner_id=G7GZQBV&utm_medium=online_publisher&cmp=Paris)***
If you **prefer a tour departing from Paris**, you can [**buy this day tour ticket including transport**](https://www.getyourguide.com/paris-l16/palace-of-versailles-full-access-passport-ticket-t59565/?partner_id=G7GZQBV&utm_medium=online_publisher), and skip-the-line with full access to the gardens and palace.

The Palace of Versailles gardens are breathtaking\!
### Visit Monetâs ACTUAL Gardens
Claude Monetâs garden is located about 50 miles (80km) northwest of Paris in **Giverny**, a village in the Normandy region of France. Giverny is where Monet lived for many years and created some of his most famous works, including his series of water lilies and paintings of his garden.
When you step into Monetâs Giverny gardens you realise he was a gardener before he was a painter. Walk across the iconic **Japanese Bridge** nestled in the **Water Garden**, adorned with wisteria. The **Flower Garden** is a kaleidoscope of tulips and roses and immerse in Monetâs world.
If you want to take your own time, **[buy skip-the-line tickets](https://www.getyourguide.com/giverny-l28104/giverny-monet-s-house-and-gardens-guided-tour-t389742/?partner_id=G7GZQBV&utm_medium=online_publisher&cmp=Paris)** and include a guide, which is a top tip if you want to really know what itâs all about. You can get to Giverny by train from Paris to Vernon, then a shuttle or taxi.
*[**Or take this full-day tour from Paris and include a visit to Versailles too.**](https://www.getyourguide.com/paris-l16/from-paris-full-day-monet-s-giverny-versailles-palace-t118759/?partner_id=G7GZQBV&utm_medium=online_publisher)*

### **Sainte Chapelle**

### **Catacombs of Paris**

***[Grab your Catacombs Tour tickets including Seine River cruise here \>](https://www.getyourguide.com/paris-l16/catacombs-and-seine-river-cruise-t553407/?partner_id=G7GZQBV&utm_medium=online_publisher&cmp=Paris)***

### **Jardin du Luxembourg**

### **Canal Saint-Martin**
Iâve written more about it and added photos of my [underground canal boat ride in Paris](https://www.bloggeratlarge.com/canal-boating-in-paris-anyone/).

Beautiful Canal Saint-Martin
### **Le Marais**

### **Musée Rodin**
If youâre taking the kids to Paris, Iâve created a fun [downloadable Paris Treasure Hunt](https://traveleguides.etsy.com/nz/listing/4335554014/downloadable-paris-treasure-hunt-kids-in) which is in my Etsy store for days of entertainment checking Parienne icons off my list\!
### **Paris Flea Markets**
If youâre a vintage treasure and hidden gems kinda girl (guy), Paris Flea Markets offer a trove of unique finds and delights.
Whether youâre hunting for antique furniture, retro clothing, or quirky collectibles, the marketsâ labyrinthine stalls and bustling atmosphere promise an exhilarating shopping experience like no other. ## Getting Around Paris
Need an airport transfer? You can get a [private airport to the city pick up](https://www.viator.com/tours/Paris/Airport-Transfer-to-Paris-with-luxury-car/d479-441535P2?pid=P00080083&mcid=42383&medium=link&campaign=Paris) in this luxury car,
We used a combination of Metro, thanks to one of our guides on a walking tour who showed us how to use it. Itâs really simple, especially if youâre used to the subway/tube from wherever youâve been before.
We also used Uber, and I do love the convenience of just deciding youâve done enough shopping, walking and youâre really to collapse. Just open your app, pop your destination in, and a car will be there alongside in a few minues.
Another way to get around Paris is on a [**Hop On Hop Off Bus**](https://www.getyourguide.com/paris-l16/paris-big-bus-hop-on-hop-off-tour-with-optional-cruise-t4059/?partner_id=G7GZQBV&utm_medium=online_publisher) tour. Buy a pass for a day or two and if you strategically plan your geographical actvities, it can also serve as a taxi. Albeit a doube-decker one\!

## Where to stay in Paris
I have two gorgeous hotel recommendations for you. We stayed at the very gorgeous **[Hotel lâAbbaye](https://hotelscom.stay22.com/bloggeratlarge/p6JM7Z5syq)**, the best kept secret in Saint-Germain.
This 4-star, boutique hotel is located in the 6th arrondissement, and within a 50 metre stroll to the adorable **Cafe Cassette**, festooned in flowers from floor to ceiling. There are only 44 rooms, so I do hope you can stay. It really is lovely.
Another fabulous hotel, that my friend Kyleigh has just come back from and adored, also in Saint Germain, is **[Hotel Au Manoir](https://booking.stay22.com/bloggeratlarge/cTh0umkcqk)**.
They found the rooms a little more spacious than Hotel lâAbbaye. Itâs also across the road from the iconic **Cafe de Flore**. Other great recommendations are **Ralphâs Restaurant** (yes, of Ralph Lauren fame) a block away, and **[Cafe Louise](https://www.hotelaumanoir.com/en/restaurants-and-food/cafe-louise/)** under the hotel to sit with a croissant and a ciggie with the locals â her words\!

| Readable Markdown | This list covers the very best things to do in Paris, because, as Audrey Hepburn said, **Paris is always a good idea**.

***Pro Tip:*** If you want to see the Mona Lisa, then book either the earliest tour in the day before the crowds, or go later in the day between 6-9pm and then have free time to wander with fewer people.

### **MusĂ©e dâOrsay**

### **Sainte Chapelle**
Tucked away on the Ăle de la CitĂ©, Sainte-Chapelle is a hidden gem of Gothic architecture and stained glass artistry.
Its soaring nave and delicate rose windows transport create an ethereal beauty. Sunlight filters through the kaleidoscopic panes, and it feels like youâre looking at heaven, as the scenes from the Bible and the lives of saints are depciting in the glass.
Admiring its intricate carvings or marveling at its celestial light, Sainte-Chapelle is a wonderful moment of faith and artistic expression.

### **Catacombs of Paris**

***[Grab your Catacombs Tour tickets including Seine River cruise here \>](https://www.getyourguide.com/paris-l16/catacombs-and-seine-river-cruise-t553407/?partner_id=G7GZQBV&utm_medium=online_publisher&cmp=Paris)***

Iâve written more about it and added photos of my [underground canal boat ride in Paris](https://www.bloggeratlarge.com/canal-boating-in-paris-anyone/).

Beautiful Canal Saint-Martin
