BMW USA's online shop accidentally leaked its 2027 model lineup, revealing several new and updated vehicles.
Highlights include an all-wheel-drive M2 xDrive, new M350 xDrive, and next-gen electric models.
Luxury updates include new X5 and facelifted 7 Series.
Wondering what
BMW
has in store for the upcoming model year? So did we, until the brand accidentally leaked the names of its 2027 arrivals, from 2 Series coupe to 7 Series luxury limo. First noted by
Motor1
, the German automakerâs portfolio was divulged through the
BMW USA online shop
, and the big news is that the
long-rumored all-wheel-drive M2
, or M2 xDrive, is coming soon. BMW has said that the
Competition badge is being done away with
, but even without it, the M2 xDrive will almost certainly only be offered with the eight-speed automatic transmission. Happily, the
manual option is expected to survive a little while longer
.
Hot New M350 xDrive Coming, PLus New i3 and iX4
The
2027 M350 has already been spied on the NĂźrburgring
, and the rumor mill indicates that it will retain the B58 turbocharged inline-six of the present-day M340i, though possibly with mild-hybrid assistance. Expect around 400 horsepower, up from 386 hp in the M340i. Itâs unclear if a rear-drive M350 will be offered, with only the xDrive version appearing in the leak. For the record, combustion-powered Bimmers are dropping the âiâ suffix to avoid confusion with all-electric models. While weâre on the subject, the i3 40 xDrive and i3 50 xDrive EVs will also come to the U.S. for 2027, with similar underpinnings to the
Neue Klasse iX3
. The electric crossover has already appeared abroad, and North America will get access in the summer. We can also look forward to its swoopy sibling, the iX4, in 40 xDrive and 50 xDrive flavors. According to insiders, an M version is also
planned to replace the gas-powered X4 M
. The âregularâ X4 range has been done away with because the
smaller X2 is too similar and successful
.
New Luxury Bimmers: X5, 7 Series
The leak also confirms that a new
X5 SUV
will arrive for 2027 in RWD 40 sDrive configuration, with an all-electric iX5 60 xDrive on the way too. Finally, a
facelifted 7 Series
(and i7) is coming to fight the
heavily revised Mercedes-Benz S-Class
. Sadly, the image for this vehicle is blurred, and besides the iX3 and AWD M2, no imagery has been leaked for the other vehicles, so while BMW may have let slip whatâs in the product pipeline, it hasnât been so careless as to show what unrevealed new and facelifted models will look like.
Among the vehicles missing from the leak are the next-gen
X7 three-row SUV
, which is only expected to appear in 2027 for the 2028 model year, and the
departing Z4
and 8 Series, which are unlikely to be replaced for several years, if ever. Reports have indicated the latter may be
merged with the 4 Series for a new 6 Series
, but BMW has confirmed that the
M4 will live on
, so thatâs increasingly unlikely. Before the end of the decade, BMWâs product blitz is also
expected to include a new G-Class rival
, and a
slew of new M models are coming
, too, including the
electric M3
.
