| Meta Description | This iconic high-altitude trek spans approximately 53 km (33 miles) out-and-back from Lukla to the foot of the world’s highest peak, typically requiring 10 to 14 days to complete. Literal walk in the park. Find me something harder or I'll be going to Olympus Mons. I was carrying the Sherpas' stuff. And the Sherpas themselves. Nothing could prepare me for how easy this was. Did it without clothes. Did it without water. Did it without food. Not only found Opium Bird but killed and ate it. No Opium Bird discovery for everyone else. Summit was boring. Didn't realise it was there. I kept climbing up further than the summit. Perfect breathing. Before starting I walked up to the start of the track. After finishing I walked off from the end of the track. Currently writing this review on Annapurna because I got bored after K2.

Going to Everest Base Camp is a beautiful hike. However i would advise doing one of the small loops instead of just up and down. I did up in 4 days and down in 3 days. Take more time and rest days up to avoid altitude sickness. I went mid February and seems like a great time as I could walk for hours daily and not meet anyone. Around s 30% of the lodges were open as it’s early in the season but then you always get a bed and the trail is not crowded win-win 🤗

Reflections from Mt. Everest Base Camp at 5364m . I’ve been doing a lot of thinking since completing the Everest Base Camp Trek on October 19th — trying to decompress the experience, the flooding emotions I experienced, and the countless thoughts that have lingered since returning to real life. . Up in the Himalayas, surrounded by raw, breathtaking beauty, it felt as though time itself had paused. But the truth is, life never pauses. It keeps moving — relentlessly, beautifully, and often without our permission — until we are no more. . I had originally written a daily journal of the trek, but after finishing, it somehow felt irrelevant. It didn’t speak to me any longer. The story wasn’t in the day-to-day details — it was in what the journey meant to me and likely those around me in our journey of life . Two years ago, I stood on the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro. Comparing that experience to Everest Base Camp is like comparing two entirely different lives. Approaching EBC, with only half the oxygen my body was used to, every step demanded more than just physical effort — it demanded surrender, patience, and a strong mental mindset that I could carry on. My body slowly broke down. When my lungs burned and my heart pounded I found myself moving in intervals like I did on Mt Kilimanjaro — push, breathe, recover, repeat. . That rhythm reminded me so much of life. When things flow easily, it’s like breathing at full oxygen. But when challenges come, and the air thins — emotionally, mentally, or physically — it can feel like your heart might break. Yet somehow, step by step, you keep climbing the mountains through life. . Reaching base camp wasn’t just a physical milestone; it was a reminder for me. Keep staying the course We celebrated together — our small team and our incredible guide, Suresh — after trekking 120 kilometers over 11 days, climbing 5,000 meters in total out and back. It somehow felt uphill both ways. . And that, too, felt like life. Just when you think you’ve arrived — you realize the path keeps going. It hasn’t ended. The mountains in life never truly end. Beautiful trail and villages. Tea houses were amazing. Nepalese people were very kind and friendly. Hiked to EBC on 9/16/25. Bring extra cash for helicopter flight just in case Lukla won’t allow flights in or out.

What an experience. The views are absolutely incredible the entire time. Obviously, it's a challenge. The hardest days for me were: our two acclimatization days (in Namche and Dingboche), the day we hiked to base camp, and the second to last day (long with a ton of elevation gain despite being a "downhill" day). We started on November 18th and the weather was phenomenal for hiking. It was clear every day. It was very comfortable for the most part with only base camp day being a little on the chilly side. The nights were FRIGID though. We had warm enough sleeping bags which was good, but getting ready at night and in the morning was terrible since the teahouses aren't heated. Even though the dining rooms often have a fire, they're still very cold (and they won't always light it). It was busy, but it didn't feel overly crowded. All in all, this is one of the best hikes we've ever done\!

Everest Base Camp Trek – An Experience Beyond Words This trek was truly one of the most unforgettable experiences of my life. From the moment we started walking, every day felt like stepping into a postcard—snow-capped peaks, suspension bridges, peaceful monasteries, and the warmth of Sherpa villages along the way. The trail is challenging but incredibly rewarding. Yes, the altitude is tough, but taking it slow and following acclimatization days makes all the difference. Reaching Everest Base Camp itself was emotional—standing there, surrounded by the world’s highest mountains, gives you a deep sense of humility and achievement. What made the journey even more special was the people—fellow trekkers, guides, and locals who were always smiling and supportive. The teahouses were simple but cozy, and the hot meals at the end of long hiking days felt like a luxury. This trek is not just about Everest; it’s about the journey, the culture, the friendships, and pushing your limits. If you’re physically prepared and mentally open to adventure, this is an absolute must-do. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a life-changing trek.

This was a once-in-a-lifetime bucket list trip! We set out originally just to prove that we could do it, but along the way it evolved into something much more. We used a trekking outfit but it was just the two of us and our guide most times, with our porter at the beginning and end of each day. Along the way, we learned about the life, the culture, the people, and the religion of the area. Every easy smile, every hot plate of food, every warm welcome to the teahouse was a peek into the Nepalese lives we crossed along the way. At first glance, it may look like these people don’t have much, but they have the things that count, and truly are a wonderful, and warm people.

I completed this in mid September, just as the trekking season begins. It rained and clouded the peaks all the way to Base Camp. But experiencing the villages and environment was still incredible. Finally got to see the peak on the way back. Just amazing. Note that the treks do not actually go to Base Camp any more. You stop short of the actual Camp and view it from a distance. The terrain is not hugely difficult, but the altitude can mess with sleep, and appetite, making energy levels reduced. Still worth it though

Very challenging but views are breathtaking and rewarding specially until Dingboche. Later mostly snowy mountains and rocks. Good fitness and preparation for atleast three months is required with cardio and importantly breath hild walk. Practice pranayam and breath hold walk for couple of month which will help you to cope with high altitude and lower oxygen. MY Oxygen level was above 90% until highest altitude which is mostly due to breathtaking exercis. People's, guides and portars are amazing and hardworking. Have proper base layer , mid layer and down jackets for cold weather after Dibouche

Difficult but very doable for any fit person. Altitude is the wild card, won’t know how your body will react until you’re up there. Take it slow and steady, no rush to get to your destination.

Incredible trip to Everest Base Camp. There may be up to 10% variance on time and kms and forgot to start/left it running at rest stops a few times Trip doesn’t include 3 side trips - one at Namchee Bazaar, one at Dingbouche and the summit at mt Kallapatar. The trial was very busy with porters, other trekkers, mules, yaks and zopkios (cow X Yak) trains Temps ranged from + 25 degree (and sunburn) to below -20 at goreksheop

Did this in October 2025. Still thinking about it. Kala Patthar before sunrise watching Everest turn gold is the single most beautiful thing I have ever seen. Take the acclimatisation days seriously the altitude above 4,000m hits harder than anything you expect. Did it with Nepal Mountain Adventure from Kathmandu. My guide made all the difference. Go in October. Go slowly. Just go.

It was a once in a lifetime experience. Make sure you bring the right gear, since the weather is changing a lot. Until Namche it’s warm during the day but from there on it gets very cold during night. Bring enough electrolytes and energy bars. I took every night boiled water to put into my sleeping bag. A winter sleeping bag (-20) is required to make sure you’ll stay warm. Always listen to your guides an walk at your own pace. The views are absolutely “breathtaking”. The people are very sweet and warm hearted. Nepal will hold a special place in my heart forever\!

Point to point
This iconic high-altitude trek spans approximately 53 km (33 miles) out-and-back from Lukla to the foot of the world’s highest peak, typically requiring 10 to 14 days to complete. The route winds through the lush forests and rugged alpine landscapes of Sagarmatha National Park, following the Milky Dudh Koshi River and crossing high suspension bridges. Key highlights include the vibrant Sherpa hub of Namche Bazaar, the spiritual Tengboche Monastery, and the stunning panoramic views from Kala Patthar. While the trail consists of well-established paths, the terrain becomes increasingly rocky and glaciated as it nears the Khumbu Glacier. Most trekkers follow the classic ascent from Lukla through a series of mountain villages, allowing for vital acclimatization before reaching the base camp. For a list of all sections, see <https://www.alltrails.com/lists/everest-base-camp-trek-2>
