Directions
Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C). Coat a 9x4-inch loaf pan with cooking spray.
Whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a medium bowl; set aside.
Beat together sugar and butter with an electric mixer in a large bowl until smooth. Add mashed bananas and mix until combined. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in milk and vanilla.
Stir in flour mixture, walnuts, and chocolate chips until just incorporated. Pour batter into the prepared loaf pan. Tap pan on the counter to release any air pockets.
Bake in the preheated oven until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean, about 1 hour and 10 minutes. Let rest in the pan for 15 to 20 minutes. Remove bread from the pan, then slice and serve.

A keeper\!
1\. You don’t need old bananas. Brown your yellow bananas by placing them on a baking sheet in the oven on 300 degrees for 15-20 minutes. Allow to cool and cut them off and squeeze the softened bananas into a bowl including the natural juices. This will turn your mashing time in to less than 30 seconds.2. Use 4 bananas3. I used a bundlette pan and cooked for 20-25 minutes.4. I made a glaze: 1 tsp Pancake Syrup, 4 tsp of butter, 1 cup of confectioners sugar, a sprinkle of salt and heavy cream as needed for binding and consistency. After it sets I microwaved some butter and went over the glaze again. It gives it like a salty sweet crunch.

Very good indeed. But I suspect maybe another banana (4 instead of 3) might somehow add more moisture and flavor to this already yummy recipe… Knowing I always mess up even with simple recipe, I stuck to the original (recipe) just in case it doesn’t come together. Reading other posts, I wish I had added a bit more vanilla extract and banana. Overall, it’s a wonderful recipe that’s a keeper. My go-to when baking banana bread, is always using the mini-loaf pan instead of the bigger loaf pan so I can share them with friends and not feel guilty eating all these.

Family favorite
I’ve been following thisRecipe for years. Always turns out and always super moist One time I added a half cup of peanut butter. I didn’t make any other adjustments and it turned out great. It was very moist.

Made as written with the exception of the nuts and choco chips because I didn't have them. Not a big banana bread fan, but i enjoyed this very much. Would definitely make again.Edit: 2023 and I’m still making this. I have to be gluten free now, and this recipe still works. I sub in a gf 1:1 flour, let the batter sit for 30 minutes then bake. Still perfect every time.

These are in the oven. I hate making substitutes in recipes but I did with this one. I didn’t have baking powder so I used self-rising flour. Only had 2 bananas, and I didn’t follow the recipe cause I thought I knew it all. I mixed my sugar in with the flour, so I had to mix my margarine in with the banana . Yes I used margarine instead of butterbecause dollar general did not have real butter, what’s up with that?This has become my go to recipe for banana bread. The only thing I changed was that I used black walnuts and omitted the chocolate chips because I believe they are only for cookies. I will be making another batch tonight for breakfast tomorrow morning

- cooking spray
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup white sugar
- ½ cup butter, softened
- 3 ripe bananas, mashed
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tablespoon milk
- ÂĽ teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup chopped walnuts
- â…“ cup semisweet chocolate chips
## Directions
1. Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C). Coat a 9x4-inch loaf pan with cooking spray.
2. Whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a medium bowl; set aside.
3. Beat together sugar and butter with an electric mixer in a large bowl until smooth. Add mashed bananas and mix until combined. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in milk and vanilla.
4. Stir in flour mixture, walnuts, and chocolate chips until just incorporated. Pour batter into the prepared loaf pan. Tap pan on the counter to release any air pockets.
5. Bake in the preheated oven until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean, about 1 hour and 10 minutes. Let rest in the pan for 15 to 20 minutes. Remove bread from the pan, then slice and serve.
