Non-Vietnamese citizens can only drive in Vietnam if they hold a temporary Vietnamese driver licence. To ride a motorcycle/scooter in Indonesia or Thailand, you must have an Australian motorcycle licence as well an International Driving Permit. Riding without the correct documentation can incur fines, legal issues, and potential issues with insurance coverage in case of an accident. Australian riders have been injured in motorcycle/scooter crashes in Indonesia and Thailand. Without the correct documentation your travel insurance may not cover property damage and medical expenses. #### Can I renew my IDP online? No, you must reapply for an IDP as your personal data was de-identified 31 days after your original application as outlined in the terms and conditions. #### Can a third party collect my IDP for a pickup in store order? You must agree to accept the risks associated with third-party collection of your IDP. #### Why is AAA the only IDP issuer? The Australian Automobile Association is the only authority duly authorised to sell Permits in Australia on behalf of the Australian Government to Australian Drivers Licence holders. A Permit from the AAA must have the AAA logo and official stamp. You can use your Australian digital licences to apply for an IDP, but you may not be able to use it overseas. Some Australian digital licences are not recognised overseas and for your IDP to be valid you must hold a current Australian Drivers licence. It is highly recommended to have your Australian Drivers Licence photocard (physical drivers’ licence) with your IDP when travelling overseas. #### Can I apply for an IDP while I’m travelling overseas? Yes. Apply online and use international express post or direct courier to your overseas address. #### How do I replace a lost IDP? You must obtain a new permit, either online or through your nearest Australian state/territory motoring club. #### What is a fraudulent International Driver's Licence? Scammers offer an “International Driving Licence” or “International Driver’s Licence”. These are not legitimate documents. The correct document is an International Driving Permit. “International Driving Licence” and “International Driver’s Licence” are fraudulent documents. They are illegal and can get the holder into trouble with overseas traffic authorities. These fraudulent permits will offer you a digital permit (licence) and the validity of 3 years. An International Driving Permit (IDP) is a translation of your current Australian Drivers licence in nine languages (English, Spanish, French, Russian, Chinese, Arabic, Greek, German and Japanese).
