Our five-quarter Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree program is designed to help entry-level and experienced students become highly-skilled professionals in the construction industry. ## Career Opportunities Carpentry is a fast-growing field, and northwest Washington has one of the highest concentrations of carpentry jobs nationwide (according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics). The Carpentry program will help you gain valuable skills that employers want, and you will gain valuable experience with green building practices, cutting-edge materials and industry best practices. Program graduates find rewarding careers in a variety of indoor and outdoor settings, including: - Framing - Roofing - Concrete and Foundation Work - Drywall Installation - Interior and Exterior Finish Carpentry - Building Science - Remodeling and Preservation - Site Preparation ## Intensive Education The Wood Technology Center at Seattle Central College provides safe and comprehensive hands-on training in traditional residential construction as well as sustainable, energy-efficient construction practices. Students learn skills in blueprint reading, construction math, building site layout, foundation systems, concrete, framing, and exterior and interior finish carpentry. Our students learn these skills by doing it themselves, individually and in small groups. The curriculum, developed with input from industry leaders and experienced faculty, will prepare you well for employment in living-wage building jobs.
