A State Chapter of the American Mental Health Counselors Association (AMHCA) and the professional organization for all people in or training to join the counseling profession in Virginia. Members are Licensed Professional Counselors (LPCs), Residents in Counseling, counseling students, and others who work as mental health, marriage and family, and substance abuse professionals throughout Virginia and surrounding areas. NVLPC was founded in 1986 with a mission of supporting counselors, residents, and counseling students in Northern Virginia. We are now pleased to be the **statewide** professional association for Licensed Professional Counselors (LPCs) in the Commonwealth of Virginia. As the state affiliate for the American Mental Health Counselors Association (AMHCA), we support mental health counselors throughout all of Virginia. Membership in AMHCA is encouraged, but not required, to join VAMHCA. VAMHCA is dedicated to the advancement of the counseling profession through education, advocacy, and collaboration. The partnership with AMHCA will allow Virginia counselors to have a stronger voice in policy development and advocacy for issues such as Medicare coverage and licensure portability. Calling All Speakers for 2025-2026 Friday Webinars\! weekly virtual VAMHCA is looking for new, exciting, and engaging clinically trained presenters for our 2025-2026 Friday webinars starting this Fall. Available dates are on Fridays from September 2025 through June 2026. Our events take place on Zoom Meeting or Zoom Webinar. These events are 2.0 hours in length, for which VAMHCA will grant 2.0 Counseling CE’s through NBCC. Please note: Presenters for Friday webinars will receive a \$150 stipend, CE hours, and a voucher toward a free breakfast seminar valid for a year from the date of their event. Students may present with a licensed co-presenter. VAMHCA offers one Resident and Student Support Group each month to provide support for counselors transitioning from graduation to licensure and provide an opportunity for participants to share information about licensure requirements, discuss how to find a supervisor, how to prepare for supervision, how to prepare for the licensure exam by identifying study techniques, resources, and possible study partners. The group is open to students and residents.
