According to the poll, the majority of Americans also believe the following about the president:
âHe is not honestâ
âHe does not have good leadership skillsâ
âHe does not care about average Americansâ
âHe is not level-headedâ
âHe does not share their valuesâ
Additionally, 52% of voters say they are embarrassed to have Trump as president, according to the poll.
âPresident Donald Trump continues to struggle, even among his most loyal supporters,â said Tim Malloy, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Poll, in a statement. âMany of them would be hard pressed to see even a silver lining in this troubling downward spiral.â
The poll also found the plurality of Americans disapprove of Trumpâs handling of the following issues: the
environment
, the
economy
,
foreign policy
,
terrorism
and
immigration
issues. Only 28% of Americans approved of his handling of healthcare about a week after House Republicans failed to pass their Obamacare replacement plan.
But some reviews were more positive: the majority of Americans also believe Trump âis a strong personâ and âis intelligent.â
The survey of 1,171 voters, conducted from March 30 to April 3, has a margin of error of plus or minus 2.9 percentage points.
Correction
: The original version of this story misstated the time during which the poll was conducted. It was from March 30 to April 3, not March 30 to April 9. |
