During that time, more than 2,500 warning letters were mailed to violators, but no fines were issued. Full enforcement begins Thursday, September 11, 2025, when Notice of Violations will carry a \$100 penalty. TPD issued a press release which noted the following: - School zone cameras operate during the entire school day. - This includes: - 30 minutes before school breakfast programs begin - Through dismissal, and - 30 minutes after the final bell rings - Cameras do not operate on weekends, school holidays, teacher planning days, or during extended breaks. - When the flashing beacons are on, the reduced speed limit (usually 15 or 20 mph) is in effect. When the beacons are off, the regular speed limit applies. It has stated in previous articles that no citations will be issued for anything below 11 mph over the limit. Therefore, you can drive 25 in a 15 and 30 in a 20 without fear of a citation, providing a practical increase in the speeds at which you may drive through a school zone with impunity. Unintended (from unthinking career politicians out for a cash grab) consequences are fun\!
