The United States Parachute Association (
USPA
) mandates that you must be at least 18 years of age to skydive. Bring your valid, government-issued photo ID with you to the dropzone (driverâs license or passport). No ID, no jump. Consent from a parent or guardian is not acceptable in lieu of ID. There is no upper age limit.
To make a tandem skydive at Skydive Perris, the
weight limit is 240 lbs
. There are no exceptions and you will be weighed when you arrive. Skydiving weight limits are not intended to be exclusive or discriminatory. Limits are enforced for your safety and comfort and your tandem instructorâs.
Note: An additional fee of $25 is assessed for any tandem student weighing over 220 lbs on our scale on jump day.
Almost anyone can make a tandem skydive! If you are in general good health, chances are you can jump. If you have ear or sinus problems, a seizure disorder, diabetes, fainting spells, heart issues, prior shoulder dislocation or neck/back pain, you may not be a candidate for skydiving. If you have any concerns, please see your doctor before booking your jump. Some conditions may require a doctorâs note.
Call us for more info
.
If you think you can skydive, you probably can! We have highly skilled instructors who regularly take people with a variety of disabilities, including people who have a congenital disability, vision or hearing impairment, an amputation, or paraplegia.
Contact us
to discuss your particular disability and what accommodations you might need in order to skydive safely. If necessary, speak with your doctor. Some disabilities may require a doctorâs note.
If you have a cold or are under the weather, youâre going to want to reschedule your skydive. If you live with a seizure disorder, diabetes, fainting spells, heart issues, prior shoulder dislocation or neck/back pain, you may not be a candidate for skydiving. Check in with your doctor before booking your jump and be sure to let your tandem team know of your condition before you jump. Some conditions may require a doctorâs note.
Note, you should
not skydive while pregnant
.
It is critical for you and your instructor to communicate without issue. A number of our instructors speak languages other than English, but there is no guarantee that your language will be represented at the dropzone on the day of your skydive. In most cases, a strong understanding of written and spoken English will be required to make a tandem skydive at Skydive Perris. Please
contact us
with specific language questions.
The cost to make a tandem skydive at Skydive Perris varies depending on the time of your booking, the altitude you jump from, whether or not you want a media package (tip:
get the media package
!!), and if you choose to combine an
indoor and outdoor
skydiving experience. Check out our
Prices page
for details.
Thereâs a lot that goes into determining the cost of skydiving. In short: you get what you pay for.

When you are literally putting your life in someoneâs hands, you need to know that every T is crossed and I is dotted, and you want to relax and have a great time in the process! In the same way you wouldnât choose the cheapest surgeon for a major procedure, you shouldnât choose the cheapest dropzone for a
major life experience
. Do your
research
, read
reviews
, and ask
questions
. If anything feels off, trust your gut.
Our
HALO jumps
exit at 16,500 feet (or 18,000 feet MSL) â 4,000 higher than our
regular tandem skydive
. Climbing to a higher altitude requires more time and more fuel, not only for the distance but also because the thinner air requires more power for the engines. Additionally, the jump plane used for HALO skydiving is equipped with supplemental oxygen as well as individual masks for tandem instructors, tandem students, camera flyers (if applicable), the pilot, and â because it is hard to move around while hooked on O2 â we have a safety officer on board who operates the door and ensures everyoneâs safety.
Yes â during the summer, if you skydive before 9 AM on weekdays, or 8 AM on weekends, your jump will be $199 instead of $219!

Skydiving is a
weather-dependent
sport. We are unable to skydive if it is too cloudy, raining, or if we are experiencing high winds. If you are concerned about the weather, you can check the local forecast at sites such as
The Weather Channel
or
AccuWeather
, or you can
give us a call
and we will let you know the current conditions at the dropzone.
Note: If you are unable to jump because we are grounded due to weather, you will not lose your deposit and it will remain on file until you reschedule for another day.
Be mindful that if you preview the forecast ahead of jump day and decide to reschedule ahead of time, the timing of when you reschedule may be significant. The weather forecast is not always accurate! Please see our reschedule and cancellation policy above.
Tipping is never expected, but it is always appreciated.
Tandem instructors
and videographers invest a lot of time, energy and resources to have the privilege of taking tandem students on the flight of their life! If youâve enjoyed the fruits of their labor, a financial token of appreciation goes a long way.
Another great way to show your tandem team some love is to give them and the dropzone a glowing, 5-star
review online
!
No â the monetary value of our gift certificates never expires. Gift certificates are non-refundable and non-transferable.
We have
three media packages
to choose from â select the one that best suits your budget and needs! All packages are available for regular
tandem skydiving
and
HALO tandem skydiving
.
The Selfie Package features footage taken from your instructorâs wrist-mounted camera.
The Hollywood Package features footage shot by a videographer who captures an outsiderâs perspective of your jump. This is our most popular package.
The Red Carpet Package includes all angles, plus photos too! You get Selfie footage and stills
and

TEN THOUSAND PERCENT, YES
! Skydiving is an out-of-this-world experience that comes with so much anticipation and excitement that many canât process the magnitude of their achievement until they see themselves FLY!
You only make your first skydive once â donât miss it!!
You will receive your media package via email. Direct download to your device and start sharing your life-changing adventure with the world!
On the ground, yes. In the sky, no. For safety reasons, cameras of any kind â including GoPros and cell phone cameras â are prohibited on the plane and during your skydive. No exceptions.
Per the United States Parachute Association (USPA), only licensed skydivers with a minimum of 200 jumps and who have been cleared to fly with a camera can take footage or photos during a skydive.
No; itâs not physically possible. Skydivers exit the airplane in a staggered fashion in order to create a safe distance between flyers. You will not be in close enough proximity to feature each otherâs video during your skydive. Youâre welcome to make a cameo appearance in each otherâs videos and photos while youâre on the ground before and after your jump, and while on the aircraft!
Your reservation time is your arrival time. Head straight to the
skydiving school
to check in and complete your registration.
Note, donât be late! Scheduling a same-day jump is not guaranteed if you arrive later than your reservation time.
No-shows are assessed a $50 fee.
Please be prepared to spend two to four hours at Skydive Perris for your tandem skydive, or three to five hours for the Adrenal-IN Experience, beginning at your reservation time. This time does not account for any weather or other unexpected delays.
Our facilities include a swimming pool, a restaurant and bar called The Bombshelter, and a shop. Relax and enjoy the many amenities of the Skydive Perris campus before and after your jump!
No outside food or drink permitted at
The Bombshelter
or at the swimming pool. Remember â anyone making a skydive must wait until
after
they land to drink alcohol.
For a tandem skydive youâll receive a short briefing from your instructor while you are being geared up â about 20 minutes. You will have ample opportunity to ask questions as you prepare to take flight!
We recommend wearing comfortable clothing thatâs appropriate for the season. Close-fitting athletic clothing is best. Itâs warmer at ground level than in the sky, so consider bringing an extra layer. We will provide you with a skydiving jumpsuit to wear over your clothes if your pants do not cover your shins or your shirt does not cover your shoulders (or you just want to look the part!).
We require closed-toe shoes. Lace-up tennis, running, or skate shoes are ideal. No heels, boots, sandals, or anything with hooks, please.
Yes, just let your instructor know that you wear
glasses or contacts
and theyâll provide you with the appropriate protective goggles. If you have multiple pairs of glasses, wear the most low-profile pair so that your goggles securely fit over them.
Definitely. Eat as if youâre going to work out at the gym â not so heavy that you feel sluggish and sick; not so little that you feel faint and jittery. You want healthy food in your stomach that will sustain you throughout the day and withstand the adrenaline rush youâll experience during your jump.
Hit up our on-site restaurant,
The Bombshelter
, if hunger or thirst strikes while youâre with us. Remember â anyone making a skydive must wait until after they land to drink alcohol.
Hydration is key to a great day of skydiving. Drink plenty of water and other good-for-you liquids. Alcohol and other intoxicants are prohibited before skydiving; no exceptions. Thereâll be plenty of time to celebrate after your jump!
Skydive Perris is outstanding at accommodating groups! We have very large and spacious
aircraft
and ample instructional staff â we always try to keep groups together. Sometimes safety and logistics require that we split groups, but thatâs pretty unusual. If your hope is to all go up together,
give us a call
and weâll do our best to make it happen!
Like all extreme sports,
skydiving has inherent risks
. At Skydive Perris, we mitigate the risks associated with the sport by meticulously maintaining our
fleet of aircraft
, using state-of-the-art gear and equipment, requiring training of the highest caliber, and engaging only highly experienced and rated skydiving instructors. We strictly adhere to a drug testing program for all of our instructors, pilots, mechanics, videographers and packers.
As demonstrated by our impeccable safety record, safety is our top priority.
Tandem skydiving
is considered safer than
solo skydiving
because the person in control â the tandem instructor â has a significantly higher amount of skydiving experience compared to someone doing, say, their 10th solo skydive. The equipment used for both types of jumps is very similar, although the tandem parachute is significantly larger than those used in sport skydiving.
Tandem students jump with a highly trained, experienced, and rated tandem skydiving instructor. At Skydive Perris, we have some of
the best tandem instructors
in the industry â not only because we treat our instructors well, but also because Skydive Perris is a phenomenal dropzone to call home.
All
tandem instructors
are required by the United States Parachute Association (USPA) to:
Hold a USPA D-License (highest level)
Have at least 3 years in the sport
Log at least 3 hours of freefall time
Accrue at least 500 skydives
Earn the USPA Coach Rating
Complete a USPA-approved Tandem Instructor Rating course
Secure an FAA Class III Medical
It is very unusual for someone to pass out during a skydive, but it can happen. In the event a tandem instructor is not able to manually deploy the parachute, the
Automatic Activation Device
(AAD) will automatically deploy the reserve parachute. At Skydive Perris, all tandem skydiving rigs are fitted with an AAD, which is inspected during every gear check, before every jump.
All skydiving rigs are equipped with
two parachutes
: a main parachute and a reserve parachute. In the event of an
issue with the main parachute
, the tandem instructor will release it and deploy the reserve. In the event a tandem instructor is not able to manually deploy the parachute, the
Automatic Activation Device
(AAD) will automatically deploy the reserve parachute.
Every tandem skydiving rig at Skydive Perris is equipped with a MARD (Main-Assisted Reserve Deployment) system and an
Automatic Activation Device
(AAD).
Should your instructor need to manually cutaway the main canopy, the MARD aids in swift deployment of the reserve parachute.
Should your instructor fail to manually pull the parachute ripcord by a specific altitude, the AAD will automatically deploy the reserve.
All of our
main parachutes
are packed under Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) rigger supervision.
All reserve parachutes are packed by FAA-certified riggers who have received certification from the FAA to inspect, pack, and repair parachutes. Every reserve parachute is inspected and repacked every 180 days whether they are used or not.
Skydive Perris has full-time, FAA-certified riggers on staff.
For most, skydiving is all about the thrill of freefall â and the more the better! At Skydive Perris, we offer two altitude options, 12,500 feet AGL and 16,500 feet AGL above ground level.
Jumping from 14,000 feet MSL grants you 60 glorious seconds of freefall, and from a 18,000-foot (MSL) HALO jump, youâll freefall for 90 seconds! Itâs the closest you can come to human flight! Check out our
High Altitude Tandem Skydiving
page for more information.
HALO means High Altitude, Low Opening. Itâs common in military skydiving, but itâs a golden opportunity for sport skydivers ⌠and practically unheard of for tandem skydivers! There are only a few skydiving dropzones in the US that offer
high altitude tandem skydiving
!
Skydive Perris offers HALO tandems on the first Saturday of every month or by request for groups of three or more (
call ahead
, please). These special jumps require supplemental oxygen on board and are a true once-in-a-lifetime experience!
Book well in advance
â availability is limited.
The higher you go, the lower the air pressure, which means the oxygen atoms in the air become more sparse. Depriving your tissues of oxygen can lead to hypoxia, making you feel confused and short of breath, and potentially causing you to pass out. But, supplemental oxygen released from an aviation O2 bottle hooked to your personal mask â free flowing to your nose and mouth â allows you to breathe and stay 100% alert all the way to altitude.
Freefall is typically about
120 miles per hour
when flying in a belly-to-earth orientation. A personâs weight or body position can alter the rate of descent. Freefalling in a head-down orientation, for example, will make you fall much faster.
Once youâre under an open parachute, you will quickly slow to about 10 miles per hour.
Absolutely! People tend to hold their breath in moments of fear, so while it may feel like you
cannot
breathe while skydiving
, itâs more that you are
not
breathing! Relax and breathe normally. If that feels difficult to do, scream â you have to take a big, deep breath to let out a triumphant yell! Another tip is to keep your eyes on the horizon instead of to the ground. Doing so allows the rushing air flow around your face instead of blasting your nose and mouth!
Modern parachutes are sophisticated and are designed to open in stages. Typically, parachute deployment does not hurt; itâs on par with braking hard in a car. The deployment looks jarring in some videos because the videographer continues to freefall at 120 mph while the tandem pair rapidly decelerates. It makes it seem like the tandem pair brake so hard that they fly way up, but itâs an illusion.
Note that tandem students who weigh close to our
weight limit of 240 lbs
may experience some discomfort in the skydiving harness while under canopy. Unfortunately, thatâs unavoidable. For safety reasons, the harness must be snug to the body.
We use only modern âsquareâ parachutes at Skydive Perris that allow for excellent maneuverability. On a tandem skydive you and your instructor will land your âparachute built for twoâ together on our grass landing area, usually by gently sliding in on your butt.
Itâs important to lift your legs when instructed by your tandem instructor. This gets your legs out of the way so your instructor can articulate the standard landing procedure. Most tandem skydiving injuries occur during landing, when there are four legs in the mix instead of two! Donât worry, you will have practiced the required body position during your pre-jump briefing. |

The United States Parachute Association ([USPA](https://www.uspa.org/)) mandates that you must be at least 18 years of age to skydive. There is no upper age limit.
#### Is there a skydiving weight limit?
To make a tandem skydive at Skydive Perris, the [weight limit is 240 lbs](https://skydiveperris.com/blog/weight-limits-skydiving/). There are no exceptions and you will be weighed when you arrive. Skydiving weight limits are not intended to be exclusive or discriminatory. Limits are enforced for your safety and comfort and your tandem instructorâs.
Note: An additional fee of \$25 is assessed for any tandem student weighing over 220 lbs on our scale on jump day.
#### What are the physical requirements to skydive?
Almost anyone can make a tandem skydive! If you are in general good health, chances are you can jump. If you have ear or sinus problems, a seizure disorder, diabetes, fainting spells, heart issues, prior shoulder dislocation or neck/back pain, you may not be a candidate for skydiving. If you have any concerns, please see your doctor before booking your jump. Some conditions may require a doctorâs note. [Call us for more info](<tel:+1 951-657-1664>).
#### Can I skydive with a disability?
If you think you can skydive, you probably can! We have highly skilled instructors who regularly take people with a variety of disabilities, including people who have a congenital disability, vision or hearing impairment, an amputation, or paraplegia. [Contact us](<tel: +1 951-657-1664>) to discuss your particular disability and what accommodations you might need in order to skydive safely. If necessary, speak with your doctor. Some disabilities may require a doctorâs note.
#### Who should not skydive?
If you have a cold or are under the weather, youâre going to want to reschedule your skydive. If you live with a seizure disorder, diabetes, fainting spells, heart issues, prior shoulder dislocation or neck/back pain, you may not be a candidate for skydiving. Check in with your doctor before booking your jump and be sure to let your tandem team know of your condition before you jump. Some conditions may require a doctorâs note.
Note, you should [not skydive while pregnant](https://skydiveperris.com/blog/can-you-skydive-while-pregnant/).
#### Do I have to speak English to jump at Skydive Perris?
It is critical for you and your instructor to communicate without issue. A number of our instructors speak languages other than English, but there is no guarantee that your language will be represented at the dropzone on the day of your skydive. In most cases, a strong understanding of written and spoken English will be required to make a tandem skydive at Skydive Perris. Please [contact us](<mailto: school1@skydiveperris.com>) with specific language questions.
### Pricing & Policy Questions
#### How much does tandem skydiving cost?
The cost to make a tandem skydive at Skydive Perris varies depending on the time of your booking, the altitude you jump from, whether or not you want a media package (tip: [get the media package](https://skydiveperris.com/blog/are-skydiving-videos-worth-it/)!!), and if you choose to combine an [indoor and outdoor](https://skydiveperris.com/skydiving/tandem/adrenalin-experience/) skydiving experience. Check out our [Prices page](https://skydiveperris.com/prices/first-jump/) for details.
#### Why is skydiving so expensive?
Thereâs a lot that goes into determining the cost of skydiving. In short: you get what you pay for.
At Skydive Perris, we donât cut any corners; safety is our number one priority. We own and maintain all of our [aircraft](https://skydiveperris.com/facilities/aircraft/), engage only highly experienced and top-rated instructors, and employ best-in-class staff. Our dropzone is world renowned for our level of expertise, standards of excellence, exemplary customer service, and phenomenal amenities. We are so meticulous that Skydive Perris is the top choice for the [worldâs best actors, entertainers](https://skydiveperris.com/facilities/film-tv/in-the-media/), and career skydivers.
When you are literally putting your life in someoneâs hands, you need to know that every T is crossed and I is dotted, and you want to relax and have a great time in the process! In the same way you wouldnât choose the cheapest surgeon for a major procedure, you shouldnât choose the cheapest dropzone for a [major life experience](https://skydiveperris.com/blog/is-skydiving-worth-it/). Do your [research](https://skydiveperris.com/why-choose-us/), read [reviews](https://www.google.com.my/travel/entity/key/ChcI3O7pmZeSt6MgGgsvZy8xdGQ0dmt4chAE/reviews?sa=X&utm_campaign=sharing&utm_medium=link&utm_source=htls&ts=CAESABoECgIaACoECgAaAA&rp=OAFIAg&ap=MAA&ei=u45wY7ebPOy97wTqnbuAAw), and ask [questions](<tel:+1 951-657-1664>). If anything feels off, trust your gut.
#### Why is HALO skydiving more expensive than a regular skydive?
Our [HALO jumps](https://skydiveperris.com/skydiving/tandem/halo/) exit at 16,500 feet (or 18,000 feet MSL) â 4,000 higher than our [regular tandem skydive](https://skydiveperris.com/skydiving/tandem/).
#### Do you offer any discounts?
Yes â during the summer, if you skydive before 9 AM on weekdays, or 8 AM on weekends, your jump will be \$199 instead of \$219\!
We also offer discounts on media packages. Make a group booking and save:

- **24+ Hours Notice**
You can reschedule without penalty as long as you give at least 24 hours notice.
- **72+ Hours Notice**

#### Can I cancel my jump, and is there a cancellation fee?

If you are a no-show on jump day, you will be charged a \$50 cancellation fee.

#### What is your inclement weather policy?
Skydiving is a [weather-dependent](https://skydiveperris.com/blog/how-weather-affects-skydiving/) sport. We are unable to skydive if it is too cloudy, raining, or if we are experiencing high winds. If you are concerned about the weather, you can check the local forecast at sites such as [The Weather Channel](https://weather.com/) or [AccuWeather](https://www.accuweather.com/), or you can [give us a call](<tel:+1 951-657-1664>) and we will let you know the current conditions at the dropzone.
#### Should I tip my instructor and videographer?
Tipping is never expected, but it is always appreciated.
[Tandem instructors](https://skydiveperris.com/about/our-team/) and videographers invest a lot of time, energy and resources to have the privilege of taking tandem students on the flight of their life! If youâve enjoyed the fruits of their labor, a financial token of appreciation goes a long way.
Another great way to show your tandem team some love is to give them and the dropzone a glowing, 5-star [review online](https://www.google.com.my/travel/entity/key/ChcI3O7pmZeSt6MgGgsvZy8xdGQ0dmt4chAE/reviews?sa=X&utm_campaign=sharing&utm_medium=link&utm_source=htls&ts=CAESABoECgIaACoECgAaAA&rp=OAFIAg&ap=MAA&ei=u45wY7ebPOy97wTqnbuAAw)\!
#### Do you offer gift certificates?
We offer gift cards for any services at Skydive Perris â including [indoor](https://skydiveperris.com/indoor-skydiving/first-time-flyers/) skydiving, [tandem](https://skydiveperris.com/skydiving/tandem/) skydiving, the Adrenal-IN Experience, media packages, and our [learn to skydive program](https://skydiveperris.com/skydiving/learn/).

No â the monetary value of our gift certificates never expires. Gift certificates are non-refundable and non-transferable.
### Media Package Questions
#### Can I get photos or video of my skydive?
We have [three media packages](https://skydiveperris.com/prices/first-jump/#mediapackages) to choose from â select the one that best suits your budget and needs! All packages are available for regular [tandem skydiving](https://skydiveperris.com/skydiving/tandem/) and [HALO tandem skydiving](https://skydiveperris.com/skydiving/tandem/halo/).
- The Selfie Package features footage taken from your instructorâs wrist-mounted camera.
- The Hollywood Package features footage shot by a videographer who captures an outsiderâs perspective of your jump. This is our most popular package.
- The Red Carpet Package includes all angles, plus photos too! You get Selfie footage and stills *and* videographer footage and stills.
#### Is a skydiving media package worth it?
[TEN THOUSAND PERCENT, YES](https://skydiveperris.com/blog/are-skydiving-videos-worth-it/)! Skydiving is an out-of-this-world experience that comes with so much anticipation and excitement that many canât process the magnitude of their achievement until they see themselves FLY\!
You only make your first skydive once â donât miss it!\!
#### How will I get my video and photos?
You will receive your media package via email. Direct download to your device and start sharing your life-changing adventure with the world\!
#### Can I shoot my own video or photos?
On the ground, yes. In the sky, no. For safety reasons, cameras of any kind â including GoPros and cell phone cameras â are prohibited on the plane and during your skydive. No exceptions.
Per the United States Parachute Association (USPA), only licensed skydivers with a minimum of 200 jumps and who have been cleared to fly with a camera can take footage or photos during a skydive.
#### Can I share a media package with a friend?
No; itâs not physically possible. Skydivers exit the airplane in a staggered fashion in order to create a safe distance between flyers. You will not be in close enough proximity to feature each otherâs video during your skydive. Youâre welcome to make a cameo appearance in each otherâs videos and photos while youâre on the ground before and after your jump, and while on the aircraft\!
### Jump Day Questions
#### When should I arrive at the dropzone?
Your reservation time is your arrival time. Head straight to the [skydiving school](https://skydiveperris.com/blog/tips-for-navigating-skydive-perris/) to check in and complete your registration.
Note, donât be late! Scheduling a same-day jump is not guaranteed if you arrive later than your reservation time.
No-shows are assessed a \$50 fee.
#### How long should I expect to be at the dropzone?
Please be prepared to spend two to four hours at Skydive Perris for your tandem skydive, or three to five hours for the Adrenal-IN Experience, beginning at your reservation time. This time does not account for any weather or other unexpected delays.
Our facilities include a swimming pool, a restaurant and bar called The Bombshelter, and a shop. Relax and enjoy the many amenities of the Skydive Perris campus before and after your jump\!
No outside food or drink permitted at [The Bombshelter](https://skydiveperris.com/bombshelter-restaurant/) or at the swimming pool. Remember â anyone making a skydive must wait until *after* they land to drink alcohol.
#### How long does the skydiving training take?
For a tandem skydive youâll receive a short briefing from your instructor while you are being geared up â about 20 minutes. You will have ample opportunity to ask questions as you prepare to take flight\!
#### What should I wear to skydive?
We recommend wearing comfortable clothing thatâs appropriate for the season. Close-fitting athletic clothing is best. Itâs warmer at ground level than in the sky, so consider bringing an extra layer. We will provide you with a skydiving jumpsuit to wear over your clothes if your pants do not cover your shins or your shirt does not cover your shoulders (or you just want to look the part!).
We require closed-toe shoes. Lace-up tennis, running, or skate shoes are ideal. No heels, boots, sandals, or anything with hooks, please.
#### Can I wear glasses or contact lenses?
Yes, just let your instructor know that you wear [glasses or contacts](https://skydiveperris.com/blog/skydiving-vision-depth-perception/) and theyâll provide you with the appropriate protective goggles. If you have multiple pairs of glasses, wear the most low-profile pair so that your goggles securely fit over them.
#### Should I eat before my jump?
Definitely. Eat as if youâre going to work out at the gym â not so heavy that you feel sluggish and sick; not so little that you feel faint and jittery. You want healthy food in your stomach that will sustain you throughout the day and withstand the adrenaline rush youâll experience during your jump.
Hit up our on-site restaurant, [The Bombshelter](https://skydiveperris.com/bombshelter-restaurant/), if hunger or thirst strikes while youâre with us. Remember â anyone making a skydive must wait until after they land to drink alcohol.
#### Can I drink before my jump?
Hydration is key to a great day of skydiving. Drink plenty of water and other good-for-you liquids. Alcohol and other intoxicants are prohibited before skydiving; no exceptions. Thereâll be plenty of time to celebrate after your jump\!
#### Will my friends and I be in the same plane?
Skydive Perris is outstanding at accommodating groups! We have very large and spacious [aircraft](https://skydiveperris.com/facilities/aircraft/) and ample instructional staff â we always try to keep groups together. Sometimes safety and logistics require that we split groups, but thatâs pretty unusual. If your hope is to all go up together, [give us a call](<tel:+1 951-657-1664>) and weâll do our best to make it happen\!
### Safety & Logistics Questions
#### Is skydiving safe?
Like all extreme sports, [skydiving has inherent risks](https://skydiveperris.com/blog/top-tips-if-youre-skydiving-tomorrow-and-scared/). At Skydive Perris, we mitigate the risks associated with the sport by meticulously maintaining our [fleet of aircraft](https://skydiveperris.com/facilities/aircraft/), using state-of-the-art gear and equipment, requiring training of the highest caliber, and engaging only highly experienced and rated skydiving instructors. We strictly adhere to a drug testing program for all of our instructors, pilots, mechanics, videographers and packers.
As demonstrated by our impeccable safety record, safety is our top priority.
#### Is tandem skydiving or solo skydiving safer?
[Tandem skydiving](https://skydiveperris.com/blog/tandem-skydiving-safe/) is considered safer than [solo skydiving](https://skydiveperris.com/skydiving/learn/) because the person in control â the tandem instructor â has a significantly higher amount of skydiving experience compared to someone doing, say, their 10th solo skydive. The equipment used for both types of jumps is very similar, although the tandem parachute is significantly larger than those used in sport skydiving.
#### Who will I jump with?
Tandem students jump with a highly trained, experienced, and rated tandem skydiving instructor. At Skydive Perris, we have some of [the best tandem instructors](https://skydiveperris.com/about/our-team/) in the industry â not only because we treat our instructors well, but also because Skydive Perris is a phenomenal dropzone to call home.
All [tandem instructors](https://skydiveperris.com/blog/become-skydiving-instructor/) are required by the United States Parachute Association (USPA) to:
- Hold a USPA D-License (highest level)
- Have at least 3 years in the sport
- Log at least 3 hours of freefall time
- Accrue at least 500 skydives
- Earn the USPA Coach Rating
- Complete a USPA-approved Tandem Instructor Rating course
- Secure an FAA Class III Medical
#### What happens if my tandem instructor passes out?
It is very unusual for someone to pass out during a skydive, but it can happen. In the event a tandem instructor is not able to manually deploy the parachute, the [Automatic Activation Device](https://skydiveperris.com/blog/skydiving-safety-aad/) (AAD) will automatically deploy the reserve parachute. At Skydive Perris, all tandem skydiving rigs are fitted with an AAD, which is inspected during every gear check, before every jump.
#### What if my parachute doesnât open?
All skydiving rigs are equipped with [two parachutes](https://skydiveperris.com/blog/how-does-a-parachute-work/): a main parachute and a reserve parachute. In the event of an [issue with the main parachute](https://skydiveperris.com/blog/happens-parachute-fails-open-skydive/), the tandem instructor will release it and deploy the reserve. In the event a tandem instructor is not able to manually deploy the parachute, the [Automatic Activation Device](https://skydiveperris.com/blog/skydiving-safety-aad/) (AAD) will automatically deploy the reserve parachute.
#### What other lifesaving equipment is standard at Skydive Perris?
Every tandem skydiving rig at Skydive Perris is equipped with a MARD (Main-Assisted Reserve Deployment) system and an [Automatic Activation Device](https://skydiveperris.com/blog/skydiving-safety-aad/) (AAD).
Should your instructor need to manually cutaway the main canopy, the MARD aids in swift deployment of the reserve parachute.
Should your instructor fail to manually pull the parachute ripcord by a specific altitude, the AAD will automatically deploy the reserve.
#### Who packs the parachutes?
All of our [main parachutes](https://skydiveperris.com/blog/pack-a-parachute/) are packed under Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) rigger supervision.
#### How high do skydivers jump from?
For most, skydiving is all about the thrill of freefall â and the more the better! At Skydive Perris, we offer two altitude options, 12,500 feet AGL and 16,500 feet AGL above ground level.
Jumping from 14,000 feet MSL grants you 60 glorious seconds of freefall, and from a 18,000-foot (MSL) HALO jump, youâll freefall for 90 seconds! Itâs the closest you can come to human flight! Check out our [High Altitude Tandem Skydiving](https://skydiveperris.com/skydiving/tandem/halo/) page for more information.
#### What is HALO skydiving?
HALO means High Altitude, Low Opening. Itâs common in military skydiving, but itâs a golden opportunity for sport skydivers ⌠and practically unheard of for tandem skydivers! There are only a few skydiving dropzones in the US that offer [high altitude tandem skydiving](https://skydiveperris.com/skydiving/tandem/halo/)\!
#### How can I make a HALO skydive?
Skydive Perris offers HALO tandems on the first Saturday of every month or by request for groups of three or more ([call ahead](<tel:+1 951-657-1664>), please). These special jumps require supplemental oxygen on board and are a true once-in-a-lifetime experience! [Book well in advance](https://bookings.burblesoft.com/index/99/91?&_ga=2.90616287.417067036.1690220557-2086517091.1687955469&_gl=1*1mwwfas*_ga*MjA4NjUxNzA5MS4xNjg3OTU1NDY5*_ga_BNXLH0E7BF*MTY5MDI5MjgyMi4yMC4xLjE2OTAyOTI4NjguMC4wLjA.) â availability is limited.
#### Why does HALO skydiving require supplemental oxygen?
The higher you go, the lower the air pressure, which means the oxygen atoms in the air become more sparse. Depriving your tissues of oxygen can lead to hypoxia, making you feel confused and short of breath, and potentially causing you to pass out. But, supplemental oxygen released from an aviation O2 bottle hooked to your personal mask â free flowing to your nose and mouth â allows you to breathe and stay 100% alert all the way to altitude.
#### How fast do you fall skydiving?
Freefall is typically about [120 miles per hour](https://skydiveperris.com/blog/how-fast-do-you-freefall-when-skydiving/) when flying in a belly-to-earth orientation. A personâs weight or body position can alter the rate of descent. Freefalling in a head-down orientation, for example, will make you fall much faster.
Once youâre under an open parachute, you will quickly slow to about 10 miles per hour.
#### Can I breathe in freefall?
Absolutely! People tend to hold their breath in moments of fear, so while it may feel like you *cannot* [breathe while skydiving](https://skydiveperris.com/blog/breathe-while-skydiving/), itâs more that you are *not* breathing! Relax and breathe normally. If that feels difficult to do, scream â you have to take a big, deep breath to let out a triumphant yell! Another tip is to keep your eyes on the horizon instead of to the ground. Doing so allows the rushing air flow around your face instead of blasting your nose and mouth\!
#### Is parachute deployment painful?
Modern parachutes are sophisticated and are designed to open in stages. Typically, parachute deployment does not hurt; itâs on par with braking hard in a car. The deployment looks jarring in some videos because the videographer continues to freefall at 120 mph while the tandem pair rapidly decelerates. It makes it seem like the tandem pair brake so hard that they fly way up, but itâs an illusion.
Note that tandem students who weigh close to our [weight limit of 240 lbs](https://skydiveperris.com/blog/weight-limits-skydiving/) may experience some discomfort in the skydiving harness while under canopy. Unfortunately, thatâs unavoidable. For safety reasons, the harness must be snug to the body.
#### How do you land when skydiving?
We use only modern âsquareâ parachutes at Skydive Perris that allow for excellent maneuverability. On a tandem skydive you and your instructor will land your âparachute built for twoâ together on our grass landing area, usually by gently sliding in on your butt.
Itâs important to lift your legs when instructed by your tandem instructor. This gets your legs out of the way so your instructor can articulate the standard landing procedure. Most tandem skydiving injuries occur during landing, when there are four legs in the mix instead of two! Donât worry, you will have practiced the required body position during your pre-jump briefing.

There is no upper age limit.
Almost anyone can make a tandem skydive! If you are in general good health, chances are you can jump. If you have any concerns, please see your doctor before booking your jump. Some conditions may require a doctorâs note. [Call us for more info](<tel:+1 951-657-1664>).
Our [HALO jumps](https://skydiveperris.com/skydiving/tandem/halo/) exit at 16,500 feet (or 18,000 feet MSL) â 4,000 higher than our [regular tandem skydive](https://skydiveperris.com/skydiving/tandem/).
Yes â during the summer, if you skydive before 9 AM on weekdays, or 8 AM on weekends, your jump will be \$199 instead of \$219\!

No â the monetary value of our gift certificates never expires. Gift certificates are non-refundable and non-transferable.

- The Hollywood Package features footage shot by a videographer who captures an outsiderâs perspective of your jump. This is our most popular package.
- The Red Carpet Package includes all angles, plus photos too! You get Selfie footage and stills *and* videographer footage and stills.
You will receive your media package via email. Direct download to your device and start sharing your life-changing adventure with the world\!
Youâre welcome to make a cameo appearance in each otherâs videos and photos while youâre on the ground before and after your jump, and while on the aircraft\!
For a tandem skydive youâll receive a short briefing from your instructor while you are being geared up â about 20 minutes. You will have ample opportunity to ask questions as you prepare to take flight\!
Hydration is key to a great day of skydiving. Drink plenty of water and other good-for-you liquids. Alcohol and other intoxicants are prohibited before skydiving; no exceptions. Thereâll be plenty of time to celebrate after your jump\!
It is very unusual for someone to pass out during a skydive, but it can happen. In the event a tandem instructor is not able to manually deploy the parachute, the [Automatic Activation Device](https://skydiveperris.com/blog/skydiving-safety-aad/) (AAD) will automatically deploy the reserve parachute. At Skydive Perris, all tandem skydiving rigs are fitted with an AAD, which is inspected during every gear check, before every jump.
All of our [main parachutes](https://skydiveperris.com/blog/pack-a-parachute/) are packed under Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) rigger supervision.
Check out our [High Altitude Tandem Skydiving](https://skydiveperris.com/skydiving/tandem/halo/) page for more information.
