| Boilerpipe Text | Following the recent issue circulated online that encourages the Government to use only halal vaccines for the public as stipulated in Decision of the Supreme Court Number 31 P/HUM/2022, Spokesperson for COVID-19 Handling Task Force Wiku Adisasmito explained that the decision is the legal umbrella for the provision of halal vaccines at home.
“In principle, the Supreme Court decision was issued to serve as a legal umbrella to ensure the provision of halal vaccines in the national vaccination program,” said Wiku in a virtual press statement, Wednesday (04/27).
To date, according to Wiku, all vaccine brands in Indonesia can be used for emergency reasons based on Fatwa of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI).
However, as the supply of halal vaccines increases, the Government will prioritize the use of those vaccines for Muslims, he added.
“As the supply of halal vaccines increases, such as Sinovac and other vaccines, the use of COVID-19 vaccines for Muslims will be completely replaced with vaccines that have received a halal status,” he said.
Wiku also underscored that the message stating that the COVID-19 pandemic is over and the PeduliLindungi application violates human rights is a hoax.
“It is not true that the Government has declared the COVID-19 pandemic is over. The Government will continue to monitor cases of COVID-19 in the future and this decision is supported by data from the experts in the field,” he said, adding that the information stating that the PeduliLindungi application violates human rights related to the misuse of personal data is not true.
“Personal data input is carried out with prior consent of the information owner and the data has been stored and well maintained at the National Data Center of Ministry of Communications and Informatics and supervised by the BSSN (State Cyber and Crypto Agency),” he remarked.
