| Boilerpipe Text | All of us at Photoville stand in solidarity with our black brothers and sisters in the fight for a just world for all. We condemn the killing of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, and countless others who have been victims of police violence, racial profiling, and our society that takes careless liberty with black lives.
We believe that everyone has the right to protest. We will always strive to contribute to the eradication of racial and systemic injustices and are hopeful that if we all do this together, we will succeed.
Editors, publishers & curators—please think carefully about who you assign stories to. We strongly believe that we all collectively should prioritize hiring black photographers to cover black communities and stories. We implore you to be deliberate and considerate when hiring and programming and we’ll be making a much more concerted effort as well.
To all of you who are having a hard time—we are with you. We stand beside you and we are here and stepping up. For those of you who are speaking out, standing up, and documenting—thank you, be safe, and carry on the fight.
We acknowledge the importance of creating a safe space to have these important conversations and educate each other on critical current events. Below we have compiled a list of resources for supporting the movement, including but not limited to active petitions, fundraisers, and charities.
