Where to stay at the Singapore F1 Grand Prix
Making the trip to a big city state like Singapore for a Grand Prix means that you can enjoy a wealth of accommodation options. Generally, the later you leave booking your accommodation, the higher the prices and more limited the choice of options. You can
check out hotels close to the circuit here
.
A top tip before booking your accommodation is to plan the journey to the circuit from the place you want to reserve.
Marina Bay
is the area of Singapore that gives its name to the street circuit itself. If you’re looking to stay at one of the trackside hotels then be prepared to pay top Singaporean dollar for the privilege, but you may not even need to buy a ticket.
Staying a little further out will significantly reduce the cost of accommodation in an already expensive part of the world. Clarke Quay, Chinatown and Sentosa Island are all viable options but make sure that you find a location with an MRT station close by to get you to Marina Bay.
It is worth checking your tickets to see which entrance you will need to get to over the race weekend. The
Marina Bay map
will help with planning your route.
Getting to the Marina Bay for the Singapore Grand Prix
The
MRT
(Mass Transport System) in the city state of Singapore is very efficient and on race weekends runs until 1am.
Due to road closures during the Formula 1 Grand Prix, fans are strongly encouraged by organisers to use the public transport system.
Single journeys on the metro cost between 1 and 3 SGD, but we recommend paying just 25 SGD (around £15) for a
Singapore Tourist Pass
to get unlimited travel over the weekend. These can also be bought at the airport.
There are trains that run from Kuala Lumpur in neighbouring Malaysia to Singapore which are surprisingly cheap and take around six hours. Buses also run from Kuala Lumpur to Singapore which are also very cheap (around $20) and take five hours – less time than the train!
Taxi
Like the MRT, Singapore taxis are notoriously clean and air-conditioned with drivers generally not renowned for trying to overcharge tourists. Taxis can be hailed on the street. A short journey through Singapore should cost up to around 30 SGD (£18). Be aware that the fares increase by 25% during peak times (morning and evening) and by 50% after midnight.

The local currency is the
Singapore Dollar

1 GBP to 1.73 SGD
. All goods and services are paid in the local currency.
The circuit has specifically asked us to remind visitors that vaping is strictly prohibited within the Marina Bay Circuit, as vapes are illegal in Singapore.
The official languages are
Malay, English, Tamil and Singaporean Mandarin

## **Where to stay at the Singapore F1 Grand Prix**
Making the trip to a big city state like Singapore for a Grand Prix means that you can enjoy a wealth of accommodation options. Generally, the later you leave booking your accommodation, the higher the prices and more limited the choice of options. You can [check out hotels close to the circuit here](https://www.booking.com/searchresults.en-gb.html?aid=356980&label=gog235jc-1DCAcoyQFCFHNpbmdhcG9yZV9tYXJpbmEtYmF5SAlYA2hQiAEBmAEJuAEHyAEM2AED6AEB-AECiAIBqAIDuALU76G2BsACAdICJDJhNjYzOTgzLTEyMDAtNDEzNS04Njg1LTQ2N2M3ODhiMjQyMtgCBOACAQ&sid=1745bffdd50f9d1215bcb4f35ac41dec&sb=1&sb_lp=1&src=district&src_elem=sb&error_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.booking.com%2Fdistrict%2Fsg%2Fsingapore%2Fmarina-bay.en-gb.html%3Faid%3D356980%26label%3Dgog235jc-1DCAcoyQFCFHNpbmdhcG9yZV9tYXJpbmEtYmF5SAlYA2hQiAEBmAEJuAEHyAEM2AED6AEB-AECiAIBqAIDuALU76G2BsACAdICJDJhNjYzOTgzLTEyMDAtNDEzNS04Njg1LTQ2N2M3ODhiMjQyMtgCBOACAQ%26sid%3D1745bffdd50f9d1215bcb4f35ac41dec%26inac%3D0%26%26&ss=Marina+Bay&is_ski_area=0&ssne=Marina+Bay&ssne_untouched=Marina+Bay&dest_id=1448&dest_type=district&checkin_year=2024&checkin_month=9&checkin_monthday=19&checkout_year=2024&checkout_month=9&checkout_monthday=23&flex_window=0&efdco=1&group_adults=2&group_children=0&no_rooms=1&b_h4u_keep_filters=&from_sf=1).
A top tip before booking your accommodation is to plan the journey to the circuit from the place you want to reserve.
**Marina Bay** is the area of Singapore that gives its name to the street circuit itself.

The [Marina Bay map](https://singaporegp.sg/en/event-info/circuit-park-map/) will help with planning your route.
## Getting to the Marina Bay for the Singapore Grand Prix
The **MRT** (Mass Transport System) in the city state of Singapore is very efficient and on race weekends runs until 1am.
Due to road closures during the Formula 1 Grand Prix, fans are strongly encouraged by organisers to use the public transport system.
Single journeys on the metro cost between 1 and 3 SGD, but we recommend paying just 25 SGD (around £15) for a [Singapore Tourist Pass](https://thesingaporetouristpass.com.sg/) to get unlimited travel over the weekend. These can also be bought at the airport.
There are trains that run from Kuala Lumpur in neighbouring Malaysia to Singapore which are surprisingly cheap and take around six hours. Buses also run from Kuala Lumpur to Singapore which are also very cheap (around \$20) and take five hours – less time than the train\!
**Taxi**
Like the MRT, Singapore taxis are notoriously clean and air-conditioned with drivers generally not renowned for trying to overcharge tourists. Taxis can be hailed on the street. A short journey through Singapore should cost up to around 30 SGD (£18). Be aware that the fares increase by 25% during peak times (morning and evening) and by 50% after midnight.
