He was my biggest inspiration – a great artist and an entrepreneur. At ***Stanford University***, he shared three stories from his life: connecting the dots, love and loss, and death. ![]() ## 1\. Connecting the dots. You can’t connect the dots by looking forward; you can only connect them by looking backward. You need to trust in something – your gut, destiny, karma, or life – and somehow your past will connect to your future. ## 2\. Love and loss Sometimes life hits you with a brick, but don’t lose hope. You have to find what you love. The only way to do great work is to love what you do. Work will fill a large part of your life, so try to love it. And if you haven’t found it yet, keep looking. Don’t settle. ## 3\. Death No one wants to die. Steve Jobs was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and was told he had only three to six months to live. He lived with that diagnosis all day. Later, after a biopsy, the doctors discovered he had a rare type of cancer that was actually curable, and he lived for many more years. Facing death taught him that our time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. > Follow your passion. Follow your heart.
