| Boilerpipe Text | Are you stuck at home for the foreseeable future? Today Iâm sharing 50 things to do when bored at home.
After being essentially stuck in our house for six weeks early in the year with Kurtisâ hip surgery, and now after weâll both be home for the foreseeable future, I thought Iâd share my tips and things to do when bored at home! Is it inconvenient to be stuck in your house for days on end (especially if not mandated)? Yes. However, I want to ensure I do my part to ensure Iâm not potentially spreading coronavirus to someone that is much more vulnerable. Letâs find ways to enjoy spending this time at home as much as possible!
Thankfully weâre both able to work from home which I know isnât an option for everyone. If it is for you, you can read my top
tips for working from home
for some ideas. But more likely than not, many of us will be home over the next few weeks much more than we have ever been in the past. It can sound glamorous for a few days, but as someone that made the shift from corporate America to working from home, it can definitely be isolating and trying at times! So today, I want to share all my best ideas for things to keep you busy and entertained when youâre home outside of work hours!
Since there are already a ton of lists out there that focus on how to entertain kiddos when theyâre home, Iâm focusing more on what adults can do (although some do apply still to kids). These ideas are just as useful whether youâre practicing social distancing as they are when youâre stuck inside during winter break, during a snow storm, or any other reason you may be staying home.

50 Things To Do When Youâre Bored At Home
This list is a mix of fun activities, household tasks, and activities that are designed to help others in your community that may need a bit of a lift during these trying times. Several of these items are also intended to knock out those tasks that forever seem to be on our to-do list and are always hanging over us. Following are some ideas for ways to stay busy, tackle boredom and have a more enjoyable time while youâre at home!
Read a book.
This may seem like an obvious choice but itâs a great way to take your mind off things. I also recently invested in
this e-reader

Work on a puzzle.Â
This is also a great time to have conversations with loved ones in your home! I just ordered this
double-sided puzzle
from one of my favorite photographers of one of my favorite places on the entire planet. I canât wait to try it!
Open your recipe books and find inspiration for new meal ideas.
Look into others in your community that may need help.Â
When local schools in our area closed, my mind immediately jumped to those children that depend so much upon their school meals. So I did some research on where to donate. Find a cause that means a lot to you and see what you can do to help! Following are a few of our favorite options (that help support many types of people in need):
Food Bank For The Heartland
Open Door Mission
Orphan Grain Train

Print those photos you love but have just left on your phone or camera

Additional Resources When You Canât Leave Your Home
Looking for additional resources when you canât or donât want to leave your home? Following are some options we use regularly. Some of these do come with a fee but we have found it more than worth the convenience factor!
DoorDash
. They will deliver meals from most of your local restaurants. This helps support local and chain restaurants, but also helps provide income for those that may not be able to work due to the current situation otherwise. If you donât have
DoorDash
in your area, Uber Eats, GrubHub, etc. are other options that offer similar services! If you donât love the delivery fees, simply call your favorite restaurants directly and order pick-up!
Shipt
. For the last year-and-a-half or so, we havenât done much grocery shopping. I regularly use Shipt to have a shopper get my groceries. In our current area, they go to Target, Hy-Vee (a regional grocery store), CVS, Petco, Sur La Table, and Office Depot/Office Max. You add items to your list, select your delivery time, and they will bring it all right to your doorstep. Itâs another way to stay out of crowds and also support those who are needing extra income!
Instacart
. We solely use Instacart when we need items from Costco (although they offer a lot more options). In Omaha, they also added alcohol recently (which Shipt has had for some time). So, if youâre dreading facing the crowds at Costco, this is a great alternative!
What else do you do to stay busy when youâre bored at home? Iâd love to hear any other ideas you may have!

### **Additional Resources When You Canât Leave Your Home**
Looking for additional resources when you canât or donât want to leave your home? Following are some options we use regularly. Some of these do come with a fee but we have found it more than worth the convenience factor\!
- [**DoorDash**](https://rstyle.me/+_liq2pOwMZWtqP6-OtMZFg). They will deliver meals from most of your local restaurants. This helps support local and chain restaurants, but also helps provide income for those that may not be able to work due to the current situation otherwise. If you donât have [**DoorDash**](https://rstyle.me/+_liq2pOwMZWtqP6-OtMZFg) in your area, Uber Eats, GrubHub, etc. are other options that offer similar services! If you donât love the delivery fees, simply call your favorite restaurants directly and order pick-up\!
- **Shipt**. Itâs another way to stay out of crowds and also support those who are needing extra income\!
- [**Instacart**](https://www.instacart.com/). We solely use Instacart when we need items from Costco (although they offer a lot more options). In Omaha, they also added alcohol recently (which Shipt has had for some time). So, if youâre dreading facing the crowds at Costco, this is a great alternative\!
What else do you do to stay busy when youâre bored at home? Iâd love to hear any other ideas you may have\!

This is a lovely post! Iâm a little put off by the blogs still encouraging people to buy, buy in this time of possible economic crisis. So glad to see this shift towards working with what you have, at least for now!\!

Sarah,
Your post is so timely because I just made a Honey Do list that includes many of these items! We are optimistic that many good things will come out of this crisis and we are looking forward to make this a productive and useful time. Many of our younger people have not experienced any kind of hardship, so I believe this to be a great teachable moment to be good role models on perseverance, faith, hope, resilience and self-care. Wishing you and your family good health and happiness.

Been enjoying watching 3rd Rock from the Sun on Amazon Prime. It was always a family favorite in the 1990âs. It is good to laugh and raise your spirits during this trying time.
I pray a daily novena and today The site I used plans to introduce a special Corona virus novena starting Friday. We are all in this situation so prayer is essential. I believe we will all be stronger for having weathered this together.

Hi! Jesus loves you and died for you so that you can be saved! We deserve hell due to our sin âfor the wages of sin is deathâ- Romans 6:23 wages meaning Payment and death is what your paid in when you sin, and because weâve all sinned (lied, stolen, committed blasphemy, adultery, fornication, etc) but God is a God of love and He did something for us so that we donât have to go to hell, He sent Jesus (God in the flesh) to die for our sins. Jesus atoned for our sins through His death so that we can be forgiven of them and cleansed of our unrighteousnes.. Believing in Jesus is the way we are saved, trust in Jesus to save you and not yourself. Salvation is not earned by works, itâs a free gift that God offers to the world.
He loves you and died for youđđ

| Readable Markdown | ## Are you stuck at home for the foreseeable future? Today Iâm sharing 50 things to do when bored at home.

After being essentially stuck in our house for six weeks early in the year with Kurtisâ hip surgery, and now after weâll both be home for the foreseeable future, I thought Iâd share my tips and things to do when bored at home! Is it inconvenient to be stuck in your house for days on end (especially if not mandated)? Yes. However, I want to ensure I do my part to ensure Iâm not potentially spreading coronavirus to someone that is much more vulnerable. Letâs find ways to enjoy spending this time at home as much as possible\!
Thankfully weâre both able to work from home which I know isnât an option for everyone. If it is for you, you can read my top [**tips for working from home**](https://lifeonvirginiastreet.com/tips-for-working-from-home/) for some ideas. But more likely than not, many of us will be home over the next few weeks much more than we have ever been in the past. It can sound glamorous for a few days, but as someone that made the shift from corporate America to working from home, it can definitely be isolating and trying at times! So today, I want to share all my best ideas for things to keep you busy and entertained when youâre home outside of work hours\!

### **50 Things To Do When Youâre Bored At Home**
This list is a mix of fun activities, household tasks, and activities that are designed to help others in your community that may need a bit of a lift during these trying times. Several of these items are also intended to knock out those tasks that forever seem to be on our to-do list and are always hanging over us. Following are some ideas for ways to stay busy, tackle boredom and have a more enjoyable time while youâre at home\!
1. **Read a book.** This may seem like an obvious choice but itâs a great way to take your mind off things. I also recently invested in [**this e-reader**](https://amzlink.to/az0iLlvL6Of28). I found that when I tried to read books on my phone I was becoming more and more distracted by texts, alerts, etc. Having a dedicated reader has made a huge difference\!
2. **Work on a puzzle.** This is also a great time to have conversations with loved ones in your home! I just ordered this [**double-sided puzzle**](https://amzlink.to/az0QyeQHJ6l1v) from one of my favorite photographers of one of my favorite places on the entire planet. I canât wait to try it\!
3. **Open your recipe books and find inspiration for new meal ideas.**
4. **Look into others in your community that may need help.** When local schools in our area closed, my mind immediately jumped to those children that depend so much upon their school meals. So I did some research on where to donate. Find a cause that means a lot to you and see what you can do to help! Following are a few of our favorite options (that help support many types of people in need):
- [**Food Bank For The Heartland**](https://donate.foodbankheartland.org/default.aspx?tsid=9057)
- [**Open Door Mission**](https://www.opendoormission.org/)
- [**Orphan Grain Train**](https://www.ogt.org/)
- [**Kids Against Hunger**](https://www.kidsagainsthunger.org/)
- [**Meals On Wheels**](https://shareomaha.org/meals-wheels-delivery)
- [**Salvation Army**](https://satruck.org/)
5. **Plan your next room makeover.** I even have a [**free 5-day email course**](https://lifeonvirginiastreet.com/free-email-course-5-secrets-to-re-designing-a-room-you-love/) to help you get started if youâre interested\!
6. **Binge watch a new series (or re-watch an old favorite).** Here are a few of our recent favorites that are a bit on the lighter side (except for the last two):
- Schittâs Creek
- Parks & Recreation
- Love Is Blind
- Arrested Development
- The Office
- Friends
- 24
- Justified
