The Administration began accepting orders for the at-home test kits Tuesday, Jan. 18, as part of efforts to slow the spread of the COVID-19 virus.  Four free rapid tests have been made available for every household. The test kits to be distributed are rapid antigen at-home tests that provide results within 30 minutes. These tests work whether or not you have COVID-19 symptoms or are up to date on COVID-19 vaccinations, and they do not require a lab drop-off. Tests can be ordered by visiting covidtests.gov and entering a residential address. Delivery will begin by the end of January, and consumers can expect tests to be delivered approximately seven to 12 days after an order has been placed.  A system to order by phone will be launched in the near future to meet the needs of those who are unable to access the website.  In addition to free at-home tests, 400 million free N95 face masks will be available through pharmacies and community health centers in the coming weeks.  Most Americans with health insurance are also eligible to get over-the-counter COVID-19 tests at no cost through a pharmacy, store or online.
